Our Mission is a Catholic, -preparatory high school for girls that seeks to empower young women to become confident, faith-filled leaders.

As one of the 148 schools in the global Sacred Heart Network, we fulfill our mission through the five goals and criteria. These goals seek to develop within each student: • a personal and active faith in God • a deep respect for intellectual values • a social awareness which impels to action • building community as a Christian value • personal growth in an atmosphere of wise freedom

Our History Founded in 1890 by the Sisters of Christian Charity, Josephinum became an official member of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools in April 2011. Josephinum was founded to educate the daughters of recent German immigrants, Josephinum Academy has a long tradition of educating young women in Chicago. Josephinum offers a variety of honors and Advanced Placement (AP) courses, and our Graduates complete a Senior Capstone Project, which includes a 10-page position paper and an oral defense in front of a panel of faculty and local business professionals. We provide each student with an iPad, an essential tool for her education and future success. There are also two computer labs on campus, and students are taught to be fully competent in current technology as part of our college prep curriculum.
