As we kick off the new year, we have lots of opportunities for our students to grow in faith. This January we will have the 7th, 8th, and 9th grade retreats! Please pray for these classes as they pre- pare to encounter Christ.

At the end of January, we will kick off Catholic Schools week! This will be an awesome time to celebrate what makes Roncalli great: our Catholic Identity, rooted in Jesus Christ. The week will be highlighted with a visit by Bishop DeGrood on Wednesday, February 3rd.

ORAL INTERP

Roncalli Oral Interp Team Advances to State Festival

Please join Mr. Holweger and Mrs. Shishnia in congratulating our interpers who earned superiors in the On-Line State Festival. In order to earn a superior, two of the three judges must agree that the piece pre- sented is of superior quality.

Earning superiors this year are Madison Ritter for her storytelling piece: The Night the Moon went Missing

And Elizabeth Russell for her serious piece: The Last Promise. (One judge gave Elizabeth a perfect score!) They will receive medals from the SDHSAA. This also earns Roncalli an Team Excellence Award Plaque for our 3rd year in a row. Congratulations to all our Interpers. Page 3 1400 N. DAKOTA ST. A NIGHT OF FINE ARTS

Page 4 ABERDEEN CATHOLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM Catholic Schools Week January 31-February 6, 2021 Each year this week includes activities and observances designed to celebrate our school and the gift of Catholic education. In this year of COVID-19 those activities might look a bit different than in previous years. Please stay alert to notifications of what might be happen- ing at your child’s school. Very important is the change in schedule on Wednes- day, February 3. Because we will be celebrating the All School Mass with Bishop DeGrood school will be dismissed at 2:30 (after the All School Mass) from Roncalli High School. RES/RPS students will be bussed to the high school for Mass and need to be picked up after Mass. Sonshine Patch students will be transported back to RPS after the Mass. All School Mass: Wed. February 3 @ 1:30 pm RHS Gym Most Reverend Bishop Donald DeGrood presiding All are welcome to attend, masks will be required. Bishop’s reception: following the All School Mass, in the RHS cafeteria “Cavaliers Give Back”: during Catholic Schools Week Since the students and staff will not be receiving the usual CSW T-shirt this year the school thought it might be a good idea to give back instead. Joining together as a community we would like to collect Personal Care items to donate to our parish food pantries. The items listed below are generally in short supply for folks in need and they are items that can’t be pur- chase with Food Stamps. If you feel called to donate to the effort please bring your item to the ALL SCHOOL MASS.
