Common Features

High social, economical and cultural interrelationships between both regions since long time. Similar language (Portuguese and Galician), weather, culture, landscape and natural environment, gastronomy and enology. Both are peripheral (Atlantic) areas in Europe and in their own countries. European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (EGTC)

- Cooperation instrument at Community level to overcome the obstacles to cross-border cooperation, allowing the cooperative groups to implement territorial cooperation projects financed by the Community or perform activities of territorial cooperation initiative of the Member States .

- The EGTCs are regulated by the Reg. 1082/2006

-The objective of the EGTC is to facilitate and promote cross-border, transnational and interregional cooperation among its members. The EGTC is made up of Member States, regional authorities, local authorities and statutory bodies on a voluntary basis.
