Since your last programme notes we have only had the one game against Rothes which they made it very difficult on the night. How pleased were you with the performance and getting another 3 points on the board?

Rothes came to Bellslea with a game plan and to be fair to them it worked well for quite some time. We just had to be patient as we were creating chances and I was confident if we kept it up then we would eventually take one. Once Jamie got our first goal we seemed to relax a bit and play with more fluency. Up until then I felt we weren't moving the ball quick enough and as a result we gave Rothes the chance to get in to their defensive shape. We won in the end which is the important thing to keep us in the mix so I have to be happy with that Today sees another tough match against Lossiemouth who have Was it good to get a break with the postponement of the Turriff made a good start to the season. What are your thoughts on the United game given the busy of schedule of matches so far this match? season? Lossiemouth have had an excellent start to the season. I know they We will see over the next few games how much the break has affected us. suffered a big loss to Brora recently but Brora are capable of doing that It can give players a much needed break and allow any minor niggles or to any team. We went up there last year and lost 6. That result aside they strains time to clear up. On the other hand, it can affect the momentum have started very well and beating Wick away and Turriff also is no easy which teams may have built up. After a win you look to get the next game task so they have to be commended for that. Charlie has been in this as soon as possible as the players will be playing with confidence and will league for a long time so knows what is required. They will come here up look to keep a run going. Have breaks like we did may upset our rhythm a for a battle and will be looking to take the points away with them like they bit but hopefully we pick up where we left off. did last season. It is up to us to make sure this doesn't happen. Last year our results at home were not acceptable. We are looking to turn this You have been handed away ties in both the Scottish Cup at Gala around and make Bellslea a fortress again. Fairydean Rovers and Keith in the Aberdeenshire Shield. How happy are you with the draws? All the Best

I'm not one to look too much in to draws and ties which are weeks away. I Mark try to focus on one game at a time so am fully concentrating on Lossiemouth. The Scottish cup is a competition that everyone wants to do well in and progress as far as possible. We will treat this game very carefully when the time comes and try to prepare the players as much as possible. It is a long journey but that is just the luck of the draw. Hopefully we can go down there and come back with a positive result. Again we want to win the Aberdeenshire Shield again. This is our trophy and we want to keep it here. Keith away is a very tough draw. The first thing you look for is a home tie and they have got it. Allan has got them playing decent football and according to reports I've heard about them, they have been quite unlucky not to have got more out of some games as they have more than matched most teams so we will know that this is going to be a tough game. That said I'm confident that no team in this league will be looking forward to playing us in a cup competition so we will go there prepared as we always are and try to win the game as we always do.

MATCHHIGHLAND REPORT LEAGUE vs. COVE ROUND RANGERS UP

Press and Journal Scottish Highland Football League Match, Saturday 27th August 2016, Cove Rangers v Fraserburgh, Christie Park, Huntly

There was late drama at Christie Park as the Broch fought back to claim a point against Cove, despite missing two penalties. The hosts took a two-goal advantage going into the break, with strikes from Blair Yule and Connor Scully and looked heavily in control. With only 10 minutes to go Greg Buchan reduced the deficit for the visitors. Late on Fraserburgh snatched the equaliser through Graham Johnston.

The home side started well and could have taken the lead in the first minute when a long ball forward by Stuart McKenzie was flicked on by Mitchel Megginson to Connor Scully but he pulled his shot wide. The home side had another chance two minutes later when hesitation in the Broch defence allowed the ball to arrive at the feet of Jonny Smith but his chipped effort went wide of goal with Paul Leask beaten.

The Broch’s first effort at goal came after 5 minutes when Willie West and Aidan Combe linked up to provide Grant Noble with a chance but he curled his shot wide. A minute later Cove had another chance when Megginson picked ball up 40 yards from goal and rove through the Broch defence but fired his shot straight at Leask.

The breakthrough came on 13 minutes Blair Yule, after great link-up play between him and forward Megginson allowed the midfielder space inside the area to tuck a shot past keeper Leask. It should have been 2-0 on 23 minutes when a cross by Harry Milne was met by Megginson from 10 yards but he directed his effort wide of the net. On 25 minutes Scully doubled the Aberdeen side’s lead when he spotted Leask off his line and chipped him from 25 yards out.

The visitors were then given an opportunity to get back in the game after referee Thomas Shaw pointed to the spot for a handball from Cove’s Darryn Kelly. However, McKenzie saved low to his left to deny Noble from the spot-kick. On 41 minutes a free kick by Megginson was saved by Leask but the rebound fell to Eric Watson who could only head the ball wide from a good position. Just before the break Stuart Duff saw a shot blocked for a corner from which Milne had a great chance to make it 3-0 but miskicked in front of goal.

Both teams came out after the interval completely differently with the Broch now having most of the play. With 3 minutes of the second half played the visitors won the ball back in the Cove half and Combe & Noble combined to set up West his effort was blocked and when the ball eventually fell to Beagrie his shot was well saved by McKenzie.

At the other end Marc Dickson lost the ball to Yule and he raced clear of the Broch defence cut inside and saw his shot blocked by the legs of Leask. On

55 minutes Fraserburgh were awarded another penalty when Watson bundled over Beagrie in the box. However, McKenzie saved Dean Cowie’s kick that was struck straight down the middle.

On 73 minutes a long ball forward found Megginson in space by once again Leask was equal to the task. Two minutes later the same pairing faced each other again and Leask pulled off another save to keep his side in with a chance. With 10 minutes to go the visitors were given a life-line when Marc Lawrence played an inch-perfect through-ball which Greg Buchan got on the end of and raced into the penalty area before firing a shot past McKenzie into the far corner of the net.

Only a few minutes after the goal McKenzie pulled off a great save to deny Lawrence from close range after Combe and Buchan had combined to set up the chance. Fraserburgh completed their comeback three minutes into added time when a long ball was missed by the Cove defenders which allowed Johnston to slot home the equaliser.

HIGHLAND LEAGUE ROUND UP

th Press & Journal Scottish Highland Football League – Team News Saturday 10 September 2016 Brora Rangers v Inverurie Loco Works Brora are in scintillating form, scoring 13 goals in two matches against Huntly and Lossiemouth. Scott Houston is their only absentee for the visit of

Inverurie Locos. Locos will look to build on the excellent point gained at Wick last weekend and the derby win over Huntly. Mark Souter is suspended for the visitors.

Buckie Thistle v Turriff United (Kick Off 2pm) League leaders Buckie continued their winning run with a six-goal salvo at Rothes last time out and will be without Kai Ross, Stuart Taylor and Andrew Skinner for the home clash with Turriff. Youngster Jordi Walker misses out for Turriff as they return to league business after the glamour cup tie against Hibs. Lewis Davidson is a big doubt for United and a few others could face late fitness tests.

Cove Rangers v Formartine United (Harlaw Park, Inverurie) Match of the day is undoubtedly at Harlaw Park as last season's top two Cove Rangers and Formartine United meet for the first time this season. Cove will aim to repeat last season's exploits against their rivals, when they won four and drew one of their five meetings in league and cup. Mitch Megginson could return after being on the bench in the Aberdeenshire Cup win at Turriff in midweek. Formartine remain without long-term injury victim Craig McKeown, while Neil McVitie could return to the squad.

Deveronvale v Huntly Deveronvale take on Huntly at Princess Royal and they'll hope to continue the form that saw them win well at Lossiemouth last weekend. Zander Jack, Dane Ballard and Kevin Adams remain out for Vale, while Graeme Watt returns to the squad. Blair Johnston, Glen Murison and Alex Thoirs all return to the Huntly squad for the trip to Banff, but Jordan Morrice is doubtful and Elliot Duff is on holiday.

Forres Mechanics v Clachnacuddin Forres and Clach meet at with both sides in decent form. Craig McGovern misses out with a knee injury for the home side and there are doubts over Scott Moore and Brandon Hutcheson. Liam Baxter returns to the squad. Clach have won their last two matches without conceding a goal and make the short trip along the A96 without the injured Michael Finnis and Ian Penwright, and the unavailable John Campbell, Scott Maclean and David

McGurk.

Fort William v Wick Academy Fort grabbed their first win of the season at Strathspey last weekend and are further boosted by the return of Adam Porritt and Scott Chisholm for the home game with Wick. Ally Stark has joined on loan from Caley Thistle and is included in the squad. Wick have yet to concede a goal on their travels in the league this season and will hope to continue that trend at .

Fraserburgh v Lossiemouth

Fraserburgh could go third if they win their game in hand and boss Mark Cowie has a full squad to choose from for the visit of Lossiemouth to Bellslea. Lossiemouth will be without Harry Noble for several weeks as he's having plates fitted for a facial injury. Martin McMullen, Willie Mathers and Jordan Main are also unavailable, while there are doubts over Scott Wilson and Nathan Smith. Aaron Hamilton, Ross Campbell and Cammy Farquhar are all out on loan.

Nairn County v Strathspey Thistle Nairn's Willie Barron and Wayne Mackintosh are both injured and miss the visit of Strathspey to Station Park. Callum Maclean, Jason Morganti, Jamie McKay and Ryan McLeod are all away on holiday. Strathspey manager Brian Grant has a fully fit squad to choose from as they look to bounce back from last week's defeat to Fort William. A win for the Grantown Jags would take them above their hosts and off the bottom of the table.

Rothes v Keith Rory Cooke, Callum McIntosh, Ryan Stuart, Ruari Watt and David McNamara all miss out for Rothes as they take on Keith at Mackessack Park. The Speysiders have signed Grant Johnston from welfare side Aberlour Villa and he will be added to the squad. Keith are without goalkeeper Daniel Bell as his girlfriend has just given birth to a baby girl. Greg Smith (calf), Bruce Raffell (broken Rib) and Ryan Keir (knee) are all out injured, while Courtney Cooper remains offshore and there is a doubt over Michael Ewen.

MATCH REPORT vs. ROTHES Press & Journal Scottish Highland Football League, Wednesday 31st August 2016, Fraserburgh v Rothes, Bellslea Park, Fraserburgh

The Broch overcame a stuffy Rothes side to record another victory which saw them move up the table into fourth spot. It took an hour before Jamie

Beagrie gave them home side the lead and Ryan Cowie’s cracking free kick seemed to have made things safe for them but Finlay Stables pulled a goal back to make the last few minutes nervy.

The home side were on the attack straight away with Ryan Cowie finding Graham Johnston with a throw in and he laid the ball off to Jamie Beagrie who saw his shot blocked with the rebound falling to William West who chipped the ball into the middle for Aidan Combe to set up Marc Dickson but the defender shot wide.

On 8 minutes Ryan Cowie cross from the left to Marc Lawrence who flashed a header into the hands of keeper Sean McIntosh. Lawrence then won the ball in midfield and found Greg Buchan on the wing and as the midfielder continued his run he got on the end of the cross but his effort went wide. In the 10th minute the Broch broke quickly after a Rothes corner when Buchan found Ryan Cowie on the left and after running half the length of the pitch his cross found Combe who turned and shot straight at McIntosh who did well to save the effort.

Midway through the first half a loose ball in the Rothes defence was latched onto by Johnston and he beat two defenders before being unlucky to see the ball rebound off another defender and back onto him before he could get a shot at goal. The Broch striker had another chance on 28 minutes when West sent him clear but his chip over McIntosh dropped wide of the right hand post.

A minute later Lawrence played the ball out to Buchan on the left who flicked it inside to Ryan Cowie the full back crossed into the penalty area where

West met the cross with a header which was cleared for a corner. Combe then picked the ball up on the right and tricked his way past two defenders before finding Dickson who crossed for Lawrence to shoot which was initially blocked and when the rebound fell to the same player he fired an effort just over the bar.

On 33 minutes Buchan crossed for Combe who headed wide from a good position. Just before the break West, Johnston, Buchan & Ryan Cowie all combined to set up a cross which was cleared to Beagrie who saw his shot blo cked by McIntosh’s legs and from the follow up cross by Lawrence, Beagrie headed wide. It was more of the same at the start of the second half with Dickson crossing from the right for Beagrie to head wide. Johnston then curled in a free kick from the angle on the left which McIntosh did well to turn away for a corner.

The home side finally made their pressure count on 61 minutes when Combe crossed from the byline on the right and Beagrie headed home from 8 yards out. The visitors first real chance of the game fell to Ricky Henderson on 66 minutes who saw two efforts from just inside the Broch box blocked by home defence and when the final chance fell to Dan Smith Edward Flinn in the home goal did well to save.

On 70 minutes a foul on Dickson saw Ryan Cowie have a shot from a free kick which McIntosh saved for a corner. From the resultant kick by Ryan Cowie, Combe headed wide at the back post. Three minutes later the home side missed a glorious chance when Ryan Cowie’s inch perfect cross fell to Grant Noble but he couldn’t keep his shot on target. The chances kept coming and Dean Cowie set up Beagrie but again he headed wide from inside the box.

Noble then sent Paul Campbell away down the left and he cut inside and fired a shot at McIntosh which the Rothes stopper did well to save. The striker then turned provider when he got onto a long ball forward and laid it off to Dean Cowie but his lashed a shot well over the bar. With two minutes remaining the Broch scored a second and what a peach. Rothes were penalised for handball and up stepped Ryan Cowie to curl the ball home from the edge of the area. In the last minute Rothes broke upfield and Finlay Stables managed to fire home with the Broch defence unable to clear the danger.

Strachans are the leading distributor of Food & Catering Consumables to the UK Offshore & Shipping Industry.

Strachans has grown from a local corner shop in the North-east of Scotland to become the UK’s leading food distributors to the marine catering trade, with markets onshore and offshore, nationally and internationally.

A Brief History

The first shop was opened in Peterhead in 1939 by John Strachan, a former fisherman, and expanded into wholesale supply several years later after his son, Jim, joined the firm. Jim Strachan then through a lifetime of work built up the strong foundations on which the firm now sits. In turn, his son James, now heads the company and continues to progress the work of his father and grand-father.

While still firmly based in Peterhead, Strachans has long since expanded its horizons. The company has evolved through a chain of retail shops and a wholesale grocery business until, in 1980, it was decided to concentrate on food distribution to the catering industry.

A new chapter was born in the history of the company when the business was acquired by Wrist Ship Supply in May 2011. For the company to re ach its full potential globally, a change to the direction of the business was required. Today, Strachans has three depots geared to the highest quality of service and competitive pricing in meeting the requirements of customers throughout the UK, whilst working closely with Wrist Ship Supply to provide for the needs of our clients worldwide.
