Our last home match against Inverurie resulted in a decent three points but the two games since then have resulted in defeats. Our Scottish Cup run this season ended as quick as it began with the disappointing 3-1 defeat at Gala Fairydean Rovers. It was very much a case of gifting them the victory with a We have a great opportunity tonight to put all that behind us with a couple of mistakes at crucial times and everyone connected with the club are deeply disappointed. None more so than the players and management. The decent result against a team that are well known as our bogey side. pitch wasn’t the best and was unfamiliar to our players and although the Deveronvale had a similar experience in the Scottish Cup with a home home side were accustomed to playing on it, even they look uncomfortable. I defeat to Gretna. They got back on track with a very credible 2-2 draw have been slowly coming round to accepting artificial surfaces and have no up at Wick on Saturday so will come to Bellslea tonight full of confidence. doubt that in ten years’ time they will be more common than grass at the top end of the game. This one however didn’t make for a great spectacle but it Tonight we welcome back two guys, Steven Davidson and Grant Noble, isn’t an excuse. We all feel that we should have at least have had them back to Bellslea for a replay but it wasn’t to be and it isn’t the end of the world. I think who served us well in their time with us. It will be good to see them back the fact we had such a good run last year it made the defeat all the more at Bellslea albeit in the red shirts of Deveronvale. saddening. Gary Harris has joined us since my last programme notes and it gives The people we met at Galashiels were very welcoming and they have a very me great pleasure to welcome him to the club. He scored on his debut at Gala but unfortunately got injured in the same game and missed the good set up in the community. We genuinely wish them well for the remainder Brora trip. Hopefully he will be available tonight. of the season and beyond. Last weekend at Brora, despite going down 2-0, there wasn’t anyone in the It will be a difficult task tonight but fingers crossed we get some long ground who could really have grudged us a share of the points but that’s overdue luck and the points remain at Bellslea. football and we have to accept it. We are happy to live with the good so we need to take the bad on the chin. It was a decent performance and a couple of Come awa the Broch, Finlay cracking saves from Joe Malin denied us. How have you viewed the performances? I think over the 3 games we actually didn't play all that bad. Inverurie are a very good side so to keep a clean sheet and win the game 1-0 was very pleasing. The Scottish cup is a great experience for everyone involved in football so to lose down at Gala Fairydean and be knocked out of the competition hurt. We let the fans down as we should have won the game but a mix of not taking our chances and some poor decision making in defence cost us. We didn't turn up in the second half of the game and gala managed to catch us on the break for their third and killed the game off. You are in the middle of a tough run of fixtures with away matches at Disappointing but we couldn't stall and think about it as we had to go to Wick, Keith, Buckie and Turriff to follow tonight's match against Brora the next week. We had a great week at training where the intensity Deveronvale. How do you manage such a schedule given that players was stepped up and went in to the game believing we could win. We will inevitably pick up injuries and suspensions? started bright and could have been 2 or 3 up before again we made a defensive error and found ourselves behind. We lost a quick second but You have to trust your squad. Some managers will keep a winning team after that more than matched Brora but just couldn't get that goal to give and only change where required. I on the other hand take each game us the momentum. differently and use some aspects of the squad’s strengths in certain matches and other strengths in other matches. I like to rotate to keep You have also brought in Gary Harris to bolster the attack, what things fresh and make sure players who I feel need a rest get it. We have a attributes will he bring to the club? stronger squad this season compared to last and hopefully we can cope with the injuries etc once they come. Not forgetting our youth policy We haven't really replaced Scott Barbour since he left and have missed where if we are missing a few players then we will have no hesitation in someone capable of running in behind defences. Gary will bring a threat up calling up someone from the youth team to play a part. front with his pace and movement. He is already off the mark with us so I'm confident he will fit in well with the Broch and score many more over All the Best the years.
