Square Pagoda, 1068 ~1093 Since the 1850s, Shanghai gradually became the center of trade, finance and a multi-functional economy. Its peculiar geopolitical situation made it possible for western culture, traditional Chinese culture as well as other regional subcultures to coexist in Shanghai. These resulted from the blending of Chinese and Shanghai 1930s Western architectural forms and lifestyles.
