Spring-Summer 2014 sees the launch of Royal Crown ’s Tulips collection, a new floral pattern inspired by a series of botanical paintings produced by William Quaker Pegg in 1813.

Echoing the explosion of flower-patterned prints on the catwalks this year, Tulips is defined by a bold and expressive floral design. A reworking of hand painted watercolours by William Quaker Pegg created especially for , the original Tulips motif has been re-interpreted by Royal Crown Derby designer Lisa Law and artfully arranged across a range of pieces to create a stunning new look.

The intricately textured pattern features vibrant red and sunshine yellow tulips, produced using hand painted artwork. The brushwork of the artwork celebrates the subtle details of the flower, whilst clever application of colour perfectly accentuates the pure white finish of the fine bone .

Andrew Klimecki, Creative Director for Royal Crown Derby, comments; “The historical archive at Royal Crown Derby is a treasure trove of artistic talent. The Quaker Pegg paintings are some of our most cherished pieces, and would have remained confined to our museum if it hadn’t been for the vision of our in-house design team who saw the potential to breathe new life into the original works. Our new Tulips collection is an irresistible take on the archive paintings. One which captures the intrinsic mood of William Quaker Pegg’s artwork but updates the tulip motif to create a playful new composition.”

Perfect for a relaxed tea with friends, romantic brunch for two, or indulgent treat for one, the Tulips tableware collection comprises plates, a , breakfast and saucer set, a cream jug, a drip bowl and tea strainer, a coffee cup and saucer set, and covered and open sugar bowls. A showpiece three tier cake stand completes the collection.
