Only Andrew Rich and Mark Wahle have Pinot noir hanging in the ; those sites being cooler than most others and better able to endure the warm temperatures earlier this month. , too, is awaiting the sweet caress of the pickers’ shears.

Quality in this warm looks to be stellar across all , with fresh, vibrant flavors, good depth, and outstanding structure for long life in the barrel and bottle. That said, many of the for this vintage have yet to reveal their true nature, as the later picks are just beginning to ferment.

Please note: that this shipment marks the last for Retour, as Lindsay has moved her production to the old Ponzi in Hillsboro. We hope you enjoy this great and join us in wishing Lindsay luck, prosperity, and continued success producing incredible wines. She and her wines will be missed. Don’t forget that case reorders on any of the wines in your club shipment made within 30 days will be discounted 20% making this the perfect time to stock your cellar. 2012 Andrew Rich Knife Edge Pinot Noir The last of Andrew’s 2012 Pinots to be released, The Knife Edge is always his most structured and age-worthy. This vintage is a barrel selection consisting of two-thirds La Colina Vineyard Wadenswil (Dundee Hills) and one-third Ribbon Ridge Vineyard Pommard. The nose is pure red with a brambly, savory note that adds a bit of mystery. In the mouth, it shows depth of —concentration without weight —with a vibrancy that begs you to take another sip. Balanced and long, this is a wine that is just now reaching its optimum drinking window and should age well for another three to five years. “The 2012 Pinot Noir The Knife Edge matured for 15 months in 20% new and has a lovely bouquet: vivacious redcurrant and black cherry scents combined with cold granite and smoke. The palate is medium-bodied with very supple , clean and pure dark cherry fruit and a sensual finish that glides across the mouth. This is a very fine Pinot Noir and comes highly recommended. 92 points.” – The Wine Advocate 45/BTL 459.00/CASE

2012 Lazy River Pinot noir Likely the vintage of the century. Isn’t that fun to write? Dense, layered, complex, cherry fruit with hints of almond, Kirsch and even a bit of violet. Still young, this wine will age into a spectacular vintage. Drinks well right now too. How long can one keep this? Our 2002 is still drinking beautifully. Winemaker: Robert Brittan 36/BTL 367.20/CASE

2011 Retour Willamette Valley Pinot Noir An initial perfume of lavender, fragrant lilacs and just-plucked cherries mingle with complexities of fresh roasted hazelnuts, black pepper, tilled earth and forest floor. Aeration reveals evocative aromas of exotic spices, anise, blackberry blossoms and a hint of confection. The explosive palate leads with bright raspberries, lush black fruits and tangerine peel. The succulent mouthfeel has impressive weight and texture and drapes easily over its elegant structure. Fine coalesce with an underlying minerality that leads to a long and seductive finish. Over time the wine is persistent in its evolution towards greater complexity. I highly suggest decanting for at least 1-2 hours prior to consuming. With aeration, the wine becomes more expressive, unveiling its charming personality. 72/BTL 734.40/CASE THE Carlton WINEMAKERS STUDIO
