Diese majestätischen Kreaturen regierten das glorreiche Königreich namens Erde (ja, der ganze Planet war ein wunderbares Dinosaurierkönigreich!). Aber eines Tages - wer hätte es gedacht - fielen die Außerirdischen auf der Erde ein, um alle Lebewesen zu bezwingen und zu versklaven. Lediglich die „Holy Dinoforce“, eine besondere Dinosaurier-Sondereinheit, welche aus den stärksten, schnellsten und coolsten Dinosauriern bestand, hatte die Macht, die Erde zu retten. Ein heiliger Krieg brach aus, beide Seiten mussten herbe Verluste erleiden und die Dinosaurier hatten mit der High-End Technologie der Außerirdischen ihre wahre Mühe. Der einzige Weg, den Feind zu besiegen und das Königreich zu retten war, die eigenen Waffen und Kräfte zu verbessern! Die Zähne des Säbelzahntigers wurden durch Laserkanonen ersetzt und so wurde aus ihm LazerToothTiger! GRAVE DIGGER Grave Diggers historia börjar i Tyskland under det tidiga åttiotalet, men blir som mest intressant under en reformering av orkestern 1991 då de två medlemmarna Uwe Lulis & Chris Boltendahl bildar ett team med nykomlingarna Tomi Göttlich & Jörg Michael (Ex Rage & Running Wild) & släpper Comeback-albumet: "The Reaper". Detta album tog bandet tillbaka till dess rötter och tätt därefter under samma år såg albumet "Best of the Eighties" dagens ljus. I Oktober 2010 släpptes deras 14:e studioalbum "Clans Will Rise Again" som handlar om Skottland, dess mystik & folk och är en fortsättning på "The War Album" som är en konceptplatta om skotsk historia.     The formation of the West German power metal scene and the question of a ‘Teu- tonic’ sound Jan-Peter Herbst Abstract Despite being one of the oldest and largest metal nations, little research on metal music from Germany exists. The current article focuses on the formation of the West German power metal scene. This subgenre was one of the first to be played in Germany, and bands such as Hellow- een, Running Wild, Gamma Ray and Blind Guardian produced a characteristic German sound that was to become famous in the world. Based on interviews with music producers, musicians, journalists and academics, this study analyses stylistic musical features of (German) power metal, the artists’ influences and their different aspirations for international success. The find- ings suggest that a characteristic German power metal sound emerged in the 1980s and ‘90s that might be called ‘Teutonic’. Germany was amongst the first countries to burst out countless successful power metal bands before the genre spread to other parts of the world. No standards existed in those days, and production resources were limited and individual. This restricted infrastructure – the unique characteristics of a few recording studios along with the small circle of professional musicians, engineers and producers – has shaped the classic German power metal sound. With standardisation of production resources, new techniques and consequences of globalisation such as internationally operating record labels, American culture in public media and increased English language skills, these national characteristics gradually dimin- ished. Introduction From its beginning, the multidisciplinary field now called metal music studies has been inter- ested in reconstructing the genre’s history from its emergence in the United Kingdom and the United States of America around the 1970s, its spread across Continental Europe, Australia and Japan in the 1980s, and its expansion throughout the world since the 1990s (Wallach, Berger & Greene 2011: 5).

    Zwischen guter Laune und der ›Mission‹ Musik | Interview: Van Canto Es gibt wohl kaum eine andere deutsche Metal-Band, die so faszinierend ist, wie VAN CANTO. Im Laufe ihrer anhaltenden Karriere bescherte die Band ihren Fans nicht nur viele schöne Momente auf der Bühne, sondern auch abseits des Scheinwerferlichts gab es ein weiteres tolles Crossover-Projekt namens ›Feuerstimmen‹. Zum baldigen Tourstart für das neueste Album sprach ANNA NOAH mit VAN CANTO-Sänger Stefan Schmidt. Als Liebhaber melodischer Metal-Musik ist man bei VAN CANTO genau richtig. Seit der Gründung der Band im Jahre 2006 sind sie ihrem Stil treu geblieben. Natürlich gibt es immer auch Weiterentwicklungen, die aber nicht problematisch sind, weil sie ihre Musik noch besser machen. Ihre Alben werden von einem breiten Publikum regelrecht eingesogen, im Bestfall so oft wie möglich. Da trifft es sich gut, dass die neue Platte Trust in Rust wieder einwandfrei als ein Ganzes funktioniert. VAN CANTO-Sänger Stefan Schmidt über die baldige Tour und das neue Album: TITEL: Wie würdet ihr Menschen, die euch noch nie gehört haben, eure Musik beschreiben? Wir machen Metal A Capella, unsere Musik besteht aus Drums und vielen Stimmen, ist kraftvoll, melodisch und macht Spaß. Metal A Capella VAN CANTO wird aufgrund ihres Sound-Arrangements, des Bühnenauftritts und der gewählten Coverversionen als Metal-Band deklariert. Kompositorisch bewegt sich die Band im modernen Power Metal und wird oft mit Bands wie »Nightwish« oder »Blind Guardian« verglichen. Rhythmus- und Sologitarren, Bass und Keyboard-Flächen werden durch die Stimmen der Sänger imitiert, die diese Imitation selbst als »Rakkatakka«-Gesang bezeichnen. Auch der Effekt des Wah-Wah-Pedals wird rein mit dem Mund erzeugt.
