Publicity photo: the housewife diva, 3 July 1965 (Alamy) i Abstract The Australian soprano Marie Collier (1927-1971) is generally remembered for two things: for her performance of the title role in Puccini’s Tosca, especially when she replaced the controversial singer Maria Callas at late notice in 1965; and her tragic death in a fall from a window at the age of forty-four. The focus on Tosca, and the mythology that has grown around the manner of her death, have obscured Collier’s considerable achievements. She sang traditional repertoire with great success in the major opera houses of Europe, North and South America and Australia, and became celebrated for her pioneering performances of twentieth-century works now regularly performed alongside the traditional canon. Collier’s experiences reveal much about post-World War II Australian identity and cultural values, about the ways in which the making of opera changed throughout the world in the 1950s and 1960s, and how women negotiated their changing status and prospects through that period. She exercised her profession in an era when the opera industry became globalised, creating and controlling an image of herself as the ‘housewife-diva’, maintaining her identity as an Australian artist on the international scene, and developing a successful career at the highest level of her artform while creating a fulfilling home life. This study considers the circumstances and mythology of Marie Collier’s death, but more importantly shows her as a woman of the mid-twentieth century navigating the professional and personal spheres to achieve her vision of a life that included art, work and family.

I first heard of Paul Solomon in 1974 through the initial book on Paul’s work as a spiritual teacher and a psychic channel: Excerpts from the Paul Solomon Tapes compiled by Daniel Emmanuel and Tom Johnson. Within a year of reading the book, I made my way to Virginia Beach, VA and showed up at the door of Paul’s organization to volunteer. This was 1975, and I was assigned the task of indexing Paul’s trance readings low-tech style, using a cassette tape player, enormous old-fashioned headphones on a spiral cord, and a notepad and pencil. From the first audible word, I fell in love. More than three decades later, much of who I am is a result of my study of Paul’s work and my experience of him as a personal teacher. In 1977, I received a personal reading from Paul that described my role with his work. “Let your direction be in cataloging, indexing and making of value the information that is set before you. Through the categorizing, become an authority on what is given and said. Spare no moment in sharing it. Be of assistance in every way, in allowing the facts, ideas and concepts that are here to become more and better known.

    Read Ebook {PDF EPUB} In Hell by L. Marshall James 8 Bible Verses on Christ’s Descent into Hell. P reviously we examined “Why Did Christ Descend into Hell?” and discussed the four abodes of Hell. On this Holy Saturday, here are eight Bible verses for you to keep near you for apologetic purposes. These eight verses describe the descent of Christ into the Limbo of the Fathers (also known as Abraham’s Bosom). Saint Paul teaches us in Ephesians 4:9 that Christ our Lord descended into Hell after He offered His life on the cross. “Now that He ascended, what is it, but because He also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?” Note here that Hell is described as having “parts” that is the four parts of Hell. Saint Peter said in Acts 2:24 that “God hath raised up Christ, having loosed the sorrows of hell, as it was impossible that He should be holden by it.” Christ loosed the Old Testament saints from hell. Saint Peter also wrote in 1 Peter 3:19 that “Christ coming in spirit preached to those spirits that were in prison, which had some time been incredulous.” On this verse, Saint Athanasius says that “Christ’s body was laid in the sepulchre when He went to preach to those spirits who were in bondage, as Peter said.” (Ep. ad Epict.) The prophet Hosea foretold the descent of Christ into Hell in Hosea 13:14 by placing these words into the mouth of the Messiah: “O death, I will be thy death; O hell, I will be thy bite.” Zechariah foretells the redemption of those in the Limbo of the Fathers in Zech 9:11: “Thou also by the blood of Thy Testament hast sent forth Thy prisoners out of the pit.” What could this mean except that the Messiah would free people from the underworld?     Communiqué de presse Nice, le vendredi 15 avril 2016 Les 13, 21, 22, 23, 24 et 26 juillet 2016 Scène Masséna – Théâtre de Verdure « Nice s’impose aujourd’hui comme une destination incontournable pour les artistes et les festivaliers. 2015 a été l’année de tous les records. Les 60 000 spectateurs du Nice Jazz Festival et les 10 500 du Nice Music Live by Nice Jazz Festival en sont la preuve. La première édition du Nice Music Live, organisée en coproduction avec Adam Concerts, a été une véritable réussite grâce notamment à David Guetta, Selah Sue et Lindsey Stirling. J’ai souhaité que cet été s’annonce encore plus inoubliable. C’est une grande fierté pour nous que de voir Maroon 5, Rihanna ou bien encore Coldplay choisir Nice pour leur concert. Les 31 concerts du Nice Jazz Festival avec entres autres Massive Attack, Robert Plant, Mélody Gardot, ou bien encore Ibrahim Maalouf réuniront tous les publics. Fort du succès du Nice Music Live de l’an dernier, j’ai souhaité donner une autre dimension à ce festival toujours en coproduction avec Adam Concerts et 105dB. C’est ainsi que cette année il y aura 6 soirées pour 7 événements sur 2 scènes avec au programme Rodrigo y Gabriela, Maître Gims et BigFlo & Oli, Milky Chance, Broken Back, The Avener et Synapson, Fréro Delavega et Julian Perretta, Louise Attaque et Feu! Chatterton et le projet interactif « Silence Events » dont le concept novateur est d’écouter un concert muni d’un casque audio. Cette programmation, qui saura ravir encore un autre public, démontre que la ville de Nice aime la musique, toutes les musiques et confirme encore un peu plus son statut de destination estivale incontournable.

    TOTO Bio Few ensembles in the history of recorded music have individually or collectively had a larger imprint on pop culture than the members of TOTO.
