Spring Work Day

Page 8 H ig h N ot es Shrine Mont

We had another great weekend at Shrine Mont. Can you believe it, we had one FULL day of sunshine, and we took full advantage of it. Thanks to KC Robertson for walking parishioners through prayer; Margaret Wohler for leading the children’s (now family’s) program; The Guitar Circle for their Friday night singalong and service performance; Katherine, Deirdre and Claudia for looking after our little ones during the Saturday programs; Joani for leading compline and Chuck for leading us in Sunday’s service. The majority of the weekend had mild weather so we could do all our planned outside activities like dipping for salamanders in the lake, hiking, hayride and the campfire. Sunday had a sprinkle or two (more like some heavy rain), so we kept to the indoors for Sunday’s service and finishing touches to the weekend. Many thanks go to all those who worked behind the scenes to make the weekend retreat most memorable. Please join us at next year’s annual retreat May 1-3, 2020. Mark your calendars now!

Meet our New Sexton Carlos Guzman

One of our Strategic Plan goals is to hire a part-time sexton and we have achieved that goal. Carlos Guzman will start with Emmanuel on July 1. Read on to learn a bit about Carlos. “Hi my name is Carlos Guzman and I would like to thank you for the opportunity to work with the Emmanuel family. God is good. I was raised by my grandparents in El Salvador. Due to the internal guerrilla conflicts at that time my parents were forced to seek a better future for me and my family. I had the opportunity to reunite with my parents in 1996 in Long Island, New York, so I consider myself a Yankees fan! I currently serve as Sexton with St. Albans Episcopal Church. I'm the father of four beautiful boys, one who will begin college in the fall. I'm very excited and proud of the opportunity to support him. Thank you for the opportunity, Emmanuel. I’m looking forward to serving you. At your service, Carlos Guzman
