KPC Meeting Report 11/13/16

● Welcome from Wendy Blum KPC Co Chair ● Linda Blackwell from the Social Action Committee (SAC) spoke on the current projects they are working on. ○ Thanksgiving meal for the Women Care Shelter ○ Refugee Center in Seattle/ King County ■ Jan. 21st and 22nd SAC will be collecting kitchen and bath items, backpacks and school supplies to make boxes for refugee families. ○ Donations of pet food and blankets for Whatcom Humane Society ○ Donations for Food Bank, milk money and baby food donations ○ Support of in mid July ○ Donations of backpacks and school supplies ○ High Holy Days food collection ○ SAC works with Interfaith Coalition on many projects ■ Books for prisoners ■ CAST ■ Annual coat drive ○ Anyone interested in joining the Social Action Committee the meetings are on Sundays. ○ Linda Blackwell’s contact info: [email protected], (360) 647-9519 ​ ​ home phone and (360) 739-1492 cell phone.

● Shabbaton next Sat. Nov. 19th from 9:30 am through lunch. ● Party - Dec. 25th from 4-6 pm ○ Need 9-10 Kesher parent for set-up starting at 2 pm ○ Need some parents to donate drinks, coffee and 4 bottles of sparkle water and other parents to keep the drink table filled during the party ● Hanukkah candles ($5 per box) and gelt bags ($2 per bag) can be purchased online and on Dec.4th and 11th before/after Kesher. All proceeds go to support the Hanukkah party. ● We are looking for another 1-2 people to join the KPC Co-Chairs. If anyone is interested contact Wendy Blum at [email protected] or Marcy Probst at ​ ​ [email protected] ● Sagit Hall spoke on new and fun things happening within Kesher. In early 2017 there will be a few field trips taking place and the need for parent chaperones. The Kesher Community meeting is tentatively scheduled for January 25th, 2017 at 6 pm.
