Sales of the calendar help support the park’s upkeep, which is maintained by a group of volunteers. “We use the funds to buy plants, tree guards, tools and other needed items,” said Vivian Ducat, Co-Chair of the Riverside Oval Association. This year’s calendar features images from historic postcards depicting scenes from the area surrounding the park. “We were able to obtain a nice array of images from the personal archives of postcard collectors,” said Ducat. “The postcards date photographs showing upper Manhattan,” she back as far as 1912.” remarked.
