El FICS daba su apoyo a largometrajes en cualquier fase de producción. Ya han pasado por el festival casi una decena. Sin embargo, ésta no es la WWW.ORSONWEST.COM primera vez que el cine llega a estas tierras. Cin- cuenta años antes, Orson Welles quiso rodar otro western en la misma zona. Orson West es la ópera prima del director Fran Ruvira, natural de Pinoso, Doctorado en Teoría, Crítica y Documentación de la Universitat Pom- peu Fabra de Barcelona. Ejerce como investiga- dor y periodista cinematográfi co y profesor en diversos centros y seminarios. El largometraje se presentó en la VI edición del Festival Internacional de Cine de Sax (FICS). IIII CICLOCICLO DEDE CINECINE PROHIBIDOPROHIBIDO Películas no recomendadas para menores de 18 años. El FICS desea apoyar la libertad de expresión. Por ello, de manera gratuita, se proyectarán varias películas prohibidas o censuradas y con polémica en varios países, debido a sus contenidos ideológicos, violentos, transgresores, radicales, artísticos, etc. Son obras que forman parte del cine más artístico y experimental. Por su calidad y tendencia a contracorriente, estas películas son obras únicas que han sido infl uyentes para todo tipo de artistas y cineastas a lo largo de la historia y que no deben caer en el olvido. Proyección de: EL TOPO (1970) de Alejandro Jodorowsky Dirección, guión, música e interpretación de Alejandro Jodorowsky. Jodorowsky es un polifacético y reconocido cineasta, escritor, psicoterapeuta, actor, compositor, dibujante y guionista de cómics. El topo es un pistolero que intenta encontrar el sentido de la vida. La película es un fi l m de culto, un alucinante spaghetti western con fi losofía oriental, cristianismo, psicología, sexualidad y misticismo. Interpretada a menudo como una metáfora del Antiguo y del Nuevo Testamento. El topo fue apoyada por artistas y músicos como John Lennon o Marilyn Manson. La película fue candidata a los Oscar por México pero parece ser que por su polémico contenido fue rechazada. Proyección de: PINK FLAMINGOS (1972) de John Waters Babs Johnson (Divine) vive en Baltimore en una cutre caravana junto a su degenerado hijo, su obesa madre y su compañera Cotton. Su mayor orgullo es ser considerada la persona más inmunda de la tierra. Pink Flamingos es una de las películas más radicales y escatológicas jamás realizadas. Por todo ello una película de culto y un referente del cine trash. Toda una auténtica provocación para el espectador donde el mal gusto reina. La película infl uyó notablemente en Alaska y en los inicios del cine de Pedro Almodóvar. JJuevesueves 1122 ddee JJulio.ulio. 222:002:00 h en el Café Teatro el Carro de Tespis. Proyección de: DENTRO DE GARGANTA PROFUNDA (2004) de Randy Barbato y Fenton Bailey La película analiza los porqué del fi l m más rentable de la historia, el más famoso largometraje para adultos: Garganta Profunda (1972) de Gerard Damiano. Analiza su creación y posterior polémica que derivó a una auténtica revolución social y a un fenómeno cinematográfi co pocas veces visto. El gobierno de Nixon y el FBI iniciaron una cruzada contra sus creadores y esto puso en jaque la protección moral, la censura y la vulneración de los derechos de los ciudadanos. En el siglo XIII, el rey Jaime I comenzaba la reconquista cristiana.c El alcaide moro del pueblo de Uryula se niega a rendirse y se prepara para acabar con todo su pueblo antesa de la llegada del rey. La Armengola, nodriza del hijo deld alcaide, que ha sido excluida de la masacre por su re- laciónla con éste, decide traicionarle y salvar a su pueblo de lal masacre. La película es un drama histórico basado en la leyenda de la Armengo- la. Un largometraje independiente rodado por el jo- vencísimo director de Orihuela Pablo Riquelme que inició el rodaje con tan sólo 18 años. El director ulti- ma sus estudios del Grado de Comunicación Audio- visual en el Centro de Estudios de Ciudad de la Luz, mientras comienza a distribuir su última obra el cor- tometraje Ciencia fi cción: La creatividad de un artista. Once again our call for short film submissions triggered a lot of interest. Artists and designers, filmmakers as well as scientists sent us their ideas, visions and thoughts about synthetic biology and its societal ramifications as audio-visual content. While watching the100 film entries from 17 countries and four continents, our jury of nine was confronted with a spectacular diversity. It became quite clear that our award categories for “Fiction”, “Animation” and “Documentary” were by far not precise enough to label this wealth of reflections in an adequate manner. From mockumentary to pre-product placement, from affirmation to gamification, from gastronomic speciesism to economic autophagy, “ or from naïve de-extinction to planned bio-obsolescence, the final selection of 60 films in BIO·FICTION 2014 will remain a unique resource in providing narratives for possible futures.
