He has purchased 31 companies throughout the last 22 years and looks to continue with exponential growth, with his supportive wife Alison and oldest son, Jackson, assisting with the business.

Vic Gallese, Dallas Consulting, transitioned to part-time consulting and chasing his bucket list since leaving Deloitte. “While 2020 was a challenging time, it opened up a few avenues I had not explored,” he says. Number one on Vic’s list was taking up yoga: “I had always talked about it, but home isolation time made it the perfect time to start. I am hooked!” he says. His second big endeavor was assisting a retailer in building out a fulfillment center.

Jim Gauger, Chicago Consulting, retired after a gratifying, nearly 40-year career in insurance and technology consulting. He says his fondest memories are with the Insurance practice in Chicago, where he worked with the hardest working and most skilled individuals in the industry. While Jim made made many new relationships around the world, he holds his time at Deloitte as the most professionally rewarding of his career.

Jeff Gibson, Minneapolis Consulting, works with a team of data scientists and statisticians to create a digital experience for Medicare members that improves health outcomes, increases engagement, and strives to establish loyalty to the Aetna Medicare plans.

Paul Hawkinson, Chicago Audit & Assurance, had a post-Deloitte career in investment banking, but has since spent the last eight years developing a portfolio of work and projects that are personally meaningful. In October 2020, he began work as a postdoctoral scholar in the Haydon Laboratory of the Neuroscience Department at Tufts University School of Medicine, where he studies the relationship of astrocytes in sleep disorders related to aging and aging-related diseases.

Charlie Judy, Chicago Services, took a five-year hiatus from corporate America to “scratch an entrepreneurial itch” after spending nearly 25 years in the space, he says. During this time, he built a model for measuring, analyzing, and reporting on workplace culture, so organizations could become more intentional about managing it. After selling his product to a global enterprise survey company, Charlie became an HR executive at IMO in 2019, a leader in the healthcare technology, terminology, and insights space.

Ted Kedzierski, Detroit Tax, was re-elected to his third term as mayor of Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan. During his tenure, the city has been awarded the AAA designation from Standard & Poor’s bond-rating service.

Laurie Lazar, Denver Services, founded and is the executive director at Realness Project (RP), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) dedicated to transforming the prison system by delivering workshops that rehumanize both inmates and prison staff. “We accomplish this through experiential learning workshops that open up channels of curiosity and empathy, and break down long-held barriers between individuals and groups,” Laurie says.

Philip Read, Chicago Consulting, joined Aberdeen Advisors as a partner.

Kimberly Roberts, Chicago Tax, developed a passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts while at Deloitte—often considering making a career change to this arena. After leaving Deloitte, she found a role with ServiceNow as the Diversity & Inclusion manager for employee resource groups, allows her to apply her passion for DEI with her professional experience. “I wake up every day energized and excited to make a difference!” she says.

Mahlon Sanford, New Orleans Audit & Assurance, retired at the end of 2020. After working for Deloitte from 1977 to 1989, he began his own firm with a former Touche partner and senior manager. They practiced as Roth Murphy Sanford LLP before merging into Carr Riggs & Ingram LLC, a regional firm. Mahlon now plans to continue his nonprofit and board work. “My priority will be spending time with my wife and family, expecially our four grandsons (and hopefully more grandchildren in the future),” he says.

Jeff Borowick, New York Audit & Assurance, has been married for more than 42 years, has three daughters, five grandchildren, and now lives in Roslyn, New York. After working for Deloitte from 1976 to 1980, he left to become the CFO of national law firm based in Long Island, New York. Jeff graduated from St. John University School of Law in 1985. He joined a Long Island-based eligible-employee benefits administrator in 1990. “Retirement is on the horizon,” Jeff says, when he will pursue his hobbies of traveling, playing basketball, and swimming.

Lance Brilliantrine, Wilton Consulting, currently lives in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where he rebuilt a landmarked house. He enjoys choreographing for the Ballets de San Juan and is active in the Rotary Club of San Juan.

Jose Cantu, Rosslyn Risk & Financial Advisory, began working at Expanse Inc., a cybersecurity startup in Rosslyn, Virginia, in November 2020. Palo Alto Networks acquired the company within a month of Jose joining, so he says the first few months were a rollercoaster ride, but he enjoys his work and is looking forward to the next phase of his career!

James Carroll, New York Consulting, retired as professor emeritus after 37 years of full-time faculty status at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, New Jersey. He now limits his work to his ligitation-support practice. “When relief from COVID-19 allows travel, expect to find me adventuring somewhere in the world, or at my New Jersey beach house,” James says.

Debra Carroll, Stamford Tax, left Deloitte in July 2013 to move to Florida, but says she greatly misses it. “It is a wonderful company and the best place I have ever worked. They treat their employees with respect and offer them so many opportunities to enhance their lives,” she says, continuing to note that “I would have never gotten the opportunities here in Southwest Florida if Deloitte was not on my resume.”

Jimmy Chiu, New York Consulting, started a fintech consulting company after leaving Deloitte. He is now the CEO and founder of a new career-driven digital startup social network platform, Health Tech Business, which strives to advance professionals in health, technology, and business. He also co-authored a soon- to-be-released book, Ultimate Guide on Coronavirus, and is currently working on his second book.

Jonathan Clemente, New York Services, is a 2022 MBA candidate of the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.

Ben Crovella, Consulting, works as a senior director at CVS Health, leading the Category Strategy and Performance Improvement team of more than 20 within our front-store (retail) business, specifically merchandising. “We’re a highly analytical team that partners with category managers to provide data- driven recommendations, integrated within the strategy for the category, to drive optimal outcomes for the P&L,” Ben says. Gerry also held another prominent position—father of the bride—in July 2020.

Paul Cwalina, Baltimore Consulting, leads an effort within the national intelligence market to architect, design, and develop a next-generation platform for cyber analysts.

Harold Cypress, Washington DC Services, was running his solo consulting business when one of his clients asked him to facilitate their strategic planning off-site—following the advice in a book, Good to Great by Jim Collins, they had both read and become inspired by. Harold says the experience was a great reminder of the power of purpose and focus.

Rohit Dayal, Washington DC Consulting, is nearing the end of his MBA journey at Carnegie Mellon, where he has focused his time toward transitioning back into the health care/life sciences industry. Postgraduation, Rohit will be joining Edwards Lifesciences as the newest member of its Strategic Leadership Development Program in the Irvine, California, headquarters this summer. He is looking to bring his experience gained from internships at Bristol Myers Squibb and Stryker Neurovascular this past year into this new role.

Jack DiLisi, Parsippany Tax, enjoys teaching business, accounting, finance, and law in upper Bergen County, New Jersey. “As I often tell my students, Deloitte is a truly exceptional organization! Kate Dowd, Washington DC Consulting, graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing and worked in the neonatal intensive care unit as a nurse for almost five years. Kate went on to pursue a Master of Science degree in nursing, which she earned in 2019, and is now a pediatric nurse practitioner. She married in 2013 and has two children (ages 5 and 6).

Karen Eber, Atlanta Services, released a TED Talk, “How your brain responds to stories—and why they are crucial for leaders” in mid-January 2021, which has gained more than 1.2 million views.

Aleksandr Glumov, New York Risk & Financial Advisory, and his wife started a natural skincare brand, For Sea and Oats, during the pandemic. The company’s mission is to create oat-based and eco-friendly skincare products while helping to reduce ocean pollution from the traditional plastic bottle packaging. “We use 20% of our profits to support ocean conservation projects.” he says.

Matthew Goldberg, Arlington Consulting, has been promoted to the global category manager for all ocean freight, air freight, and 3PL warehouse services since leaving Deloitte and joining Stanley Black & Decker. He is responsible for managing transportation provider relationships, to ensure supply chain continuity across different business units (power tools, hand tools, oil and gas, infrastructure, engineered fastening, and security).

Jeff Goldfarb, Washington DC Audit & Assurance, recently accepted an early retirement package and left Jacobs after 23 years. He says he ultimately plans to spend more time in the Christian discipleship of businessmen arena (on the national board of CBMC) and then pursue project- and deal-oriented assignment, mentorship/coaching, consulting, and board roles.

Throughout his years at Amazon, he has had the opportunity to work in diverse areas such as improving the customer order experience, managing marketing campaigns for Prime Video, contributing toward the one-day shipment launch, and leading a team responsible for building models to better understand and explain Prime Video content to its customers.

Tucker Hannah, Nashville Risk & Financial Advisory, founded a boutique , Sorbie Group, which provides strategy consulting, business planning, and financial modeling services to entrepreneurs, startups, and small businesses. “We are small but growing and already have a track record of helping business owners sort through their uncertainties. It’s exciting to get to participate in entrepreneurship every day, and it wouldn’t be an option if I hadn’t picked up valuable skills and experience through years with Deloitte,” he says.

News About You | April 2021 Don Hathway, Mclean Audit & Assurance, now retired, is chair of the board of Melwood, a not-for-profit primarily dedicated to helping people gain employment. One program, AbiLIT, trains autistic persons in cybersecurity and then matches them to an employer. Don also co-founded the Financial Stability Network, a program of Catholic charities of the Archdiocese of Washington, with a fellow Deloitte retiree to provide financial mentoring, education, and free tax prep to low-income persons.

Marcus Holloway, New York Consulting, concluded a five-year mission as CEO of MTM Technologies at the end of 2020, with the sale of the company to ATSG. “It was five years of challenges and rewards, and required the turnaround and transformation of a 30-year-old IT services company into a valuable and sellable business,” Marcus says. He notes that he learned an amazing amount and feels the experience helped to round out his leadership capabilities. Now, Marcus is catching up on personal interests but is already brainstorming what’s next.

Ravi Inamdar, Rosslyn Consulting, was offered the opportunity to become a full-time front-end developer in Accenture Federal Services—an opportunity he credits to his time at Deloitte. Raj Iyer, Rosslyn Consulting, currently serves the CIO for the United States Army and is responsible for a global technology portfolio of more than $16 billion. He serves as the trusted technology adviser to the Secretary of the Army on all things related to IT, including cybersecurity, cloud, and digital transformation. Raj leads innovation for the Army through the adoption of digital technologies that serve as an enabler for the Army’s future war-fighting concept—called Multi Domain Operations.

Becca Jordan Wright, Raleigh Consulting, along with her dad—and building upon her grandmother’s recipe—created “pennies,” a cross between a cheese biscuit and a cheesy cracker, with a kick of spice! She now bakes pennies commercially in Charlotte, having launched Piedmont Pennies in September 2020 while pursuing her MBA at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Kenan Flagler Business School. The company hired its first employee in January.

Stacy Sawin, Rosslyn Consulting, founded FinAbility, a nonprofit addressing the most common reason survivors remain trapped in abusive relationships—financial dependency—in October 2020. “We are developing digital tools that empower survivors to access the financial resources needed to become financially independent and permanently leave abuse. In just a few months, we have built a strong founding team of executives, advisers, and board members, and we aim to directly support 500,000 survivors by the end of 2022,” she says.

Joseph Sce, Hartford Tax, spent 19 Years with overseeing the United States and Canadian tax function. He is currently working on integrating Alstom’s acquisition of Bombardier’s transportation business. Joseph adds that he is married with three terrific children.

Dhilan Shah, Hartford Tax, has had accounting, IT, and finance careers. He has hosted 13 seminars and released 11 educational videos on YouTube. Dhilan participates in the Rocky Hill Chamber of Commerce and is vice president of the India Association of Connecticut. Additionally, he cofounded a music group— Music4U, has modeled in commercials, and acted in two movies. Dhilan also has twin sons who are now in medical school.

Deepak Shivashankar, Philadelphia Consulting, continued to excel in the field of technology consulting, “thanks to the fantastic experience and learning I had while working with Deloitte,” he says, adding that “it has helped me immensely in all roles, initiatives, [and] projects that I have been involved with.” He is now in a new role as a sports entrepreneur and, with the help of a like-minded group, opened a sports facility arena. “Hope to see my dreams come true!” Deepak says.

Randy Siller, New York Tax, is a managing parter at Siller & Cohen.

Howie Spitz, Boston Tax, worked in New Hampshire for a private equity fund for 30 years after leaving Touche Ross in 1986. When the fund dissolved, he moved to New York City (where he currently lives) and became a managing director at Andersen Tax. Howie says, “I look back fondly on my days at Touche, starting work with the 1982 class of 27 individuals, where we began our careers all those years ago. Charlie Stout, Hermitage Services, transitioned to a company that builds software on the ServiceNow platform as a solution architect. “With my background in software architecture, we implemented ServiceNow with over 600 workflows and 12 enterprise integrations. Keertana Subramani, Atlanta Consulting, says she loved her time working in Consulting for the GPS sector, but had longed to study economics for years. She is now pursuing a master’s degree in econometrics and mathematical economics from the London School of Economics.

Amy Tang, New York Consulting, started Folio in 2019 shortly after leaving Deloitte. Folio helps users plan trips by creating tailored travel guides, using AI to suggest hotels, restaurants, and activities that match each traveler’s preferences. Amy says, “We [have] grown our team and recently launched our Places of the Month initiative, where we feature two destinations per month and offer discounted guides.”

Gradually, it was then shared with others until had me publish an op-ed about it,” he says.

Tony Themelis, Boston Consulting, works for Microsoft and helps companies secure their information against inside and outside threats. “My team works on classification, labeling, and [the] protection of sensitive files across email, files, cloud storage, and on-prem,” he says.

Phil Weiss, Parsippany Tax, is a principal at Apprise Wealth Management, a registered investment advisory firm that provides comprehensive financial solutions for entrepreneurs, investors, professionals, retirees, and individuals, as well as families on a fee-only basis. A fiduciary oath is also provided to all clients. “While our client group is diverse, what they have in common is an insistence on trustworthy advice with no strings attached,” he says.

Monterio Woodson, McLean Consulting, spent five years at Cox Communications as the senior director of contact center platform technology before being recently promoted to assistant vice president, Intelligent Automation at Cox Enterprises Inc. In this new role, Monterio will be responsible for the growth and expansion of Cox’s robotic process automation, robotic desktop automation, and virtual assistant capabilities.

David Best, Los Angeles Audit & Assurance, has focused on charitable work, business mentoring, and some consulting as an independent board director since 1999. For the past 15 years, David has been heavily involved in NGO work in the Winelands, Stellenbosch, South Africa, having co-founded an academy (PYDA) for 18- to 25-year-olds from local townships. PYDA develops disadvantaged, unemployed people in the wine, tourism, and fruit sectors to become “work-ready.” The one-year program has a specific emphasis on women in the workplace.

Robert Betts, Consulting, is a program director at R/GA, which creates advertising and marketing products based in technology and design.

Anne Blixen-Finecke (nee Landry), Los Angeles Audit & Assurance, is the CFO of Loaf, a multichannel furniture and homewares retailer in the . Prior to joining Loaf in 2020, she was the commercial finance director at Debenhams and also held various senior finance management roles at Marks & Spencer and Tesco.

Hugo Carcamo, Los Angeles Audit & Assurance, is an InfoSec governance manager at SMBMI and currently works with other Deloitte alumni. “I could not have joined without the strong network [of] connections that I developed at Deloitte,” he says.

Michael DeBellis, San Francisco Consulting, is doing independent research and consulting in a field of AI known as Knowledge Graphs. In 2018, he presented a paper that applied Noam Chomsky’s approach to linguistics to the study of human ethics. That paper won the award for “Best Vocabulary” at the Semantics 2018 conference in Vienna. “The last year, I have been working with a professor from the Indian Statistical Institute on a knowledge graph that models information about the COVID-19 pandemic from the Indian Government,” he adds.

Laura Dirtadian, San Francisco Risk & Financial Advisory, moved from Lyft to Affirm, where she is the vice president of enterprise risk management

Ernie Dronenburg, Tax, was elected by his colleagues to become the 2021 president of the California Assessors Association (CAA). The CAA represents all 58 elected county assessors. In 2010, he was elected to be the assessor, recorder, and county clerk of San Diego County, which is the fifth-largest county in the United States and second largest county in California. The department has an $86 million budget, 415 employees throughout five offices, and annually assess more than 1 million parcels, records 800k documents, and issues 90k licenses.

Adam Foster, San Francisco Audit & Assurance, left Deloitte in December 2020 to return to the United Kingdom and explore other career opportunities; he has since accepted the role of finance business partner for e-commerce for Fanatics Inc., based in . “This is all thanks to the unique experience I gained through auditing tech and retail firms in the Bay Area!” Adam says.

Todd Gill, Boise Audit & Assurance, was appointed as president and CEO of United Heritage Insurance in Meridian, Idaho, on January 1, 2021. He also serves on the board of directors, and was previously the COO and CFO. Todd has been with the company for more than 16 years since leaving Deloitte.

Gail Ginell, Los Angeles Tax, has been working as a tax accountant for 35 years. She has been married for 30 years, has two grown sons, and lives in Thousand Oaks, California.

Jeanne McGovern, Seattle Audit & Assurance, was appointed as a director and audit committee member for Huntsman Corporation. Huntsman Corporation is a publicly traded global manufacturer and marketer of differentiated and specialty chemicals with 2020 revenues of approximately $6 billion. She is now retired.

Michael Murphy, Foster City Consulting, was the director of technology at a local high school for 16 years after leaving Deloitte.

Zane Navratil, Seattle Audit & Assurance, left Deloitte 10 months into my career because pickleball was an opportunity that he couldn’t pass up! Zane became a professional player and instructor in July 2020, and he now travels the country playing and teaching. “I am ranked No. 3 in the world in men’s singles, and No. 11 in men’s doubles. I taught over 1,000 people in 2020, and that was in just half of a year!” Zane adds.

Lakshmi Narasimha Nemani, Los Angeles Consulting, has developed immense expertise in the role of product owner in the domains of health care and Salesforce. He is a principal consultant with Consulting and wishes to progress even further as a product manager, product owner, and SME.

Bon Oh, Los Angeles Consulting, founded a digital therapeutics company in South Korea after graduating from Deloitte as a partner and COO of Consulting at Deloitte Korea. His company has partnered with a global pharmaceuticals company and focuses on mental health.

Doug Ott, San Francisco Risk & Financial Advisory, is doing what he says he does best—teaching professionals, accountants, lawyers, and investigators how to grow their book of business in an efficient and authentic manner. “It has been rewarding to know that I am making an impact on so many professionals’ lives and careers. All of this is via , which is an easy fit during the pandemic,” Doug says.

Michael Parsons, Los Angeles Tax, is a principal at a professional services firm and focuses on research credit and strategic federal tax services as a California/West market leader.

Karthik Rapaka, San Francisco Consulting, has committed himself to a five-year full-time PhD program at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, studying organizations that are advancing social impact. “I am truly grateful for the culture and leadership at Deloitte by seeding in me the responsibility to serve the society at large,” Karthik says.

He founded Cloud Paradigm, Inc., and built US and India (Bangalore) operations and teams from the ground up. “We have been serving marquee customers in North America using [a] global delivery model. Jodi Whittaker, Boise Audit & Assurance, is the managing partner of the Boise office of the recently merged Oregon-based KDP Certified Public Accountants, LLP and Idaho-based Whittaker & Associates. Jessica Yen, San Francisco Consulting, became an entrepreneur during COVID-19 and launched a work journal company, Daily Work Journal. Daily Work Journal is a journal notebook product that helps working professionals reflect thoughtfully about their work trajectory, organize their work notes intentionally, and retain work information better.
