GETTING STARTED 1. What insight or observation from this week’s message did you find most helpful, eye-opening, or troubling? Explain. 2. Share a time when someone wronged you and they couldn’t admit it. What excuses did they make? How about a time you couldn’t admit your mistake? 3. You can make a good case that the three hardest words to say are, “I have sinned,” or, “I was wrong.” Why are those such hard words for us to say?

4. Read . 5. Return to each of these sections in the passage. Take turns saying a portion of David’s prayer of repentance in your own words and discuss what it would be like to include these words in your prayers. Verses 1-2 | Ask for forgiveness Verses 3-6 | Acknowledge your sin Verses 10-12 | Please restore me Verses 13-17 | I will serve you Lord

MAKING IT APPLICABLE God honored both Jonah and David’s prayers and forgave and restored them both. The grace of God is not just amazing, but it’s outrageous! It welcomes all sinners into the courts of heaven and for the rebel who today languishes in the far country, feeling alone, and forgotten, God’s grace reaches out and says, “ has paid the price. When you are ready, you can come home to God.” In what ways will you choose to come home to God this week?
