In 2006 with generous support from the Neighborhood Grant Program and several local businesses, the complete coopera- tion of the County Parks Department and lots of hard work and enthusiasm from neighborhood volunteers, we installed a chil- dren’s playground at the park with a swing set and play struc- ture. Now, we would like to add additional equipment to the playground and add several trees around the lake and the pe- rimeter wall. During discussions with Mary Stagg of the County Parks Department, it was determined that two specific pieces of equip- ment could be added to the playground to complement what has already been installed; a Spinner Bowl and a Junior Spica. Pic- tures of this equipment are attached for your perusal. Mary Stagg has given her assurances that the County will expand the borders of the existing Tot Lot and install the new equipment when it is received. When he learned of our plans at the park, a local businessman pledged to plant several shade trees at various locations in the park to add to the visual ambience and comfort of park users. As a result of that pledge, this project will add eight (8) live oaks in the cen- ter of recesses along the West wall of the park and ten (10) bald cypress trees at the waters edge on the West side of the lake. Annemarie Post, the Environmental Horticul- ture Florida Yards and Neighborhoods Coor- Spica (above) dinator for the County, has confirmed the Spinner Bowl (below) viability of this plan. We hope to be able to add additional trees in later years of this long-term improvement effort. Page 24 - October 2007 - Landings Eagle Preliminary LMA Budget 2008 Suggest Multiple Improvements

Flat Assessment to 2007

This is the preliminary budget to be discussed at the Oc- tober LMA meeting. Final action before voting on by asso- ciation president at the November meeting. Treasurer, Richard Bayles details major variances from

2007 budget:

There are four notable items in this initial 2007 Forecast and proposed 2008 Budget for the LMA. With respect to the 2007 Forecast of Operations, after months of reviewing alternative proposals for solutions to the drainage issues associated with the Eagles Nest Area, the Board approved an expenditure of $50,000 to accomplish the maintenance required to correct the problem – a figure $30,000 higher than provided for in the 2007 Budget. In addi- tion, landscaping maintenance is projected to exceed its budget by $14,400. Savings in other areas, including the postponement of funding for the Eagles Nest Area remedia- tion (removal and replacement of dead trees and removal of invasive species) into 2008, results in a projected $10,302 deficit from current operations. The initial proposed 2008 Budget includes two major items – replacement of the current Main Gatehouse and elimination of the projected $46,205 cumulative deficit in the Associa- tion’s equity account. In effect, in the past the Association has been borrowing from the reserve fund or following year’s maintenance fees to fund expenses in the current year. Last year we restored the reserve fund to its target level. This year we need to eliminate the cumulative deficit. With reductions in other areas, the currently proposed budget calls for no increase in the maintenance fee – keeping it at $1,106 per unit as in 2007.
