1 User Manual TrainworX SBB Re 460 (V3.0) for TS 2019

Introduction Congratulations! You have purchased the TrainworX Re 460 pack. Please take the time to read this manual before driving off in your new engine. This add-on is TrainworX’s third locomotive release. After the Re 6/6 and Re 4/4 this was a logical next step. The engine is a bit heavy on polygons which has not showed any issues while testing. On slower computer systems there might be some lagging however. This might be mitigated by changing your graphics settings. I hope you like the product and have many hours of fun with it. This add-on is officially licensed by SBB CFF FFS in Bern . For more information and updates please visit : www.trainworx.eu and like/follow my Facebookpage : https://www.facebook.com/TrainworX4Trainsimulator Special thanks

I want to express special thanks to some people without whom this product never would have seen the light. First off all many thanks to Chris Longhurst (www.christrains.com) who has helped numerous times during the building process. I hope to, one day, reach his level of quality on my builds. Thanx Chris! Secondly I want to thank Bruno Lämmli (http://www.lokifahrer.ch/) for his consults on Re 460 details and controls. Bruno made it possible to make the cab and controls as near as possible to the original engine. Merci Bruno! And last but not least I need to thank Herbert Gisler (SBB) who helped me with the ‘in cab’ audio recordings and my main testers Fredi Stierli and Michael Aschwanden. These guys have helped me by testing (and positively criticizing) my work time and time again. Danke Schön!

The original From Wikipedia:

The Re 460 (popularly known as the Lok 2000) series are modern four-axle electric locomotives of the . Upon their entry into service in the early 1990s, they replaced the Ae 3/6I (de), Ae 4/7 and Re 4/4I (de) series units, and displaced many of the Re 4/4II series into lesser duties.

The series was introduced as part of the Rail 2000 project, a massive project to modernise and improve capacity on Switzerland's railways.[4] While originally designed as a multipurpose locomotive, they are now used for passenger services only, often in conjunction with the IC 2000 double decker (often used to pull InterCity and InterRegio trains in German and French language areas). Their freight role has been assumed by Re 482s. They are maintained at Yverdon. Assignment

When SBB was split up on 1 September 1999, Re 460 079–118 were assigned to the freight division, later becoming SBB Cargo. It was seen as an advantage to use all Re 460, which had been designed for 200 km/h, for passenger service. The passenger division passed the Re 6/6 to SBB Cargo and bought 079–095 on 1 January 2003, 096–102 2004 and the rest 2005.

Advertising

Due in part to their large, mainly flat bodysides, Swiss Federal Railways were approached early on with requests for the Re 460 to be used as mobile advertising hoardings. Despite opposition from some quarters, the money that could be earned swayed the decision and the first such locomotive, Re 460 015 was unveiled in 1994 in Agfa livery. Today no other loco type in Switzerland carries so many different liveries. Naming

Almost all Re 460 locomotives are named, with the names being applied below the cab window at one end.

First steps After entering the cabine you should at least take the following steps to get moving:

Manual start

1. Steuerstrom (Key) ON (Ctrl-S) 2. Mainswitch ON (Z) – If you press the mainswitch within 3 seconds from turning the key, the panto will be activated automatically 3. Panto UP (P) 4. Reverser Forward (W) 5. V-Soll to required speed (or 200 to drive manually) 6. Release (Switch off) Parkstellung 7. Release PMS brakes 8. Set Trainbrake to ‘Release’

Autostart

1. Press Crtl-Shift-S - Steuerstrom will be set to On - Mainswitch and Panto will be activated - Reverser will be set to forward - Tempomat will be set to 40 kmh - Parkstellung will be released - Deadmans Safety system (Wachsam) activated. Press Shift-7 to switch off. 2. Release PMS brakes 3. Set Trainbrake to ‘Release’

Parkstellung At start your engine will be in Parkingmode. Both pantographs are raised and a white light on either end of the engine will be lit. Also the PMS brakes will be switched on.

Wachsamkeitskontrolle The SBB has a ‘sifa’ type vigilance system called ‘wachsamkeitskontrolle’. This system is distance based under 100 kmh (not time based as German sifa is). Switch the system on by pressing Shift-7.

Speed under 20 kmh:

After 50 Meters : Audible warning

After 100 Meters : Emergencybrake with buzzer

Speed over 20 and under 100 kmh: 18 User Manual TrainworX SBB Re 460 (V3.0) for TS 2019

After 1600 Meters : Visual warning

After 1800 Meters : Emergencybrake with buzzer

Speed over 100 kmh: The system switches to time-based measurement. Audible warnign after 30 seconds. Emergencybrake after 35 seconds.

The system is reset by pressing the spacebar (Acknowledge) or by moving the regulator or trainbrakehandle.

LIGHTS

The lights will be set automatically unless you press the Lights switch in the cab.

ZUB system The swiss ZUB safetysystem is simulated in this engine. There are no actual ZUB magnets I any of the routes that are available at the moment of release of this version so the system is not 100% correct.

Activating ZUB

The ZUB system will be inactive by default. To activate it please follow the following steps:

- Start up the engine - Engage PMS brakes - Press the green button on the ZUB panel - A test sequence will now run which ends with a simulated braketest and the red ZUB button will light up. - Press the red ZUB button to quit the test and activate the system - Now set the trainbrake to ‘fahrstellung’ and re-engage the main switch

ZUB will now be active.

ZUB function

The system will try to pick up the speedlimit coming up from ether a signal or trackspeed depending on what is available. Issues with (faulty) trackspeed design in routes and or signalling issues can cause the system to behave erratically.

The system will calculate a braking-curve to get to the desired speed at the signal. A buzzer will sound if you go over the speedcurve. Slowing down quits the buzzer. Disrespecting speedlimits will eventually cause a forced brake (Zwangsbremsung).

Driving faster than the current speedlimit will cause a buzzer to sound at +5 kmh and a forced brake at +15 kmh.

Reset a warning by turning (pressing) the ZUB knob (Q).

19 User Manual TrainworX SBB Re 460 (V3.0) for TS 2019

Manöver Pressing the ‘Manöver’ switch will make it possible to pass red signals without SPAD or Emergency brake. You have to stay under 40 Km/h (warning). This is normally used when shunting.

Winter effects When the season is set to ‘Winter’ the Panto’s will have an arcing effect where it touches the catenary and there will be simulated snow swirl. You can switch this off (active engine) by pressing Ctrl-Shift-A.
