Page 1 of 6 YNLC LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY PROGRAM APPLICATION FORM The Yukon Native Language Center (YNLC) partners with the Simon Fraser University (SFU) and respective Yukon First Nations to offer a language learning program for students who wish to acquire conversational and literacy skills in a particular First Nations language, to teach this language in schools, or to enhance their language for cultural reasons or professional objectives. The registration deadline is September 16, 2020. Registrations may be accepted after the deadline based on seat availability. Priority is given to Yukon First Nation citizens. Vacant seats are open to First Nations outside of the Yukon and the public at cost. Tuition and other student fees are covered for Yukon First Nation students. Credit or Non-Credit Choice The language proficiency courses are available as credit and non-credit courses. The Certificate of First Nation Language Proficiency (CFNLP) and the Diploma of First Nation Language Proficiency (DFNLP) are accredited programs through SFU. For students applying to take the courses or the program as credit, you will be contacted by the YNLC Training Programs Coordinator to complete the SFU application and course registration forms. Students not wishing to take fully university courses through SFU, may want to take the courses as non-credit. Please check the box below to confirm whether you want to take the course/s for credit or non-credit and whether you want to enroll in the full CFNLP or the DFNLP program or just take select courses only. YNLC courses (courses only and no credits). See the YNLC website for the YNLC Handbook for Students. Select courses (not full program) for credit (with SFU - Simon Fraser University) Full YNLC-SFU Language Proficiency Certificate (9 courses for 27 credits from SFU).
