History Project: Tudors and Stuarts:

Secret Service Report

Task: Your report will explain

 who and Stuarts were,  why the royal family was important  why was important  explain some of the battles the royal family had with Parliament.

You may complete your report on paper in a secret service folder, or as a Powerpoint presentation.

Each task you need to complete is listed below.

Efort in What did I learn? Task each Week this task (1-10)

Family Tree: Find out who the Tudor and Stuart Monarchs were – find pictures of as many of the Kings or Queens as you can, including Henry

VII, Henry VIII, Mary Tudor, Queen , James (VI of Scotland, I of ) and Charles I. Create a Tudor and Stuart family tree using your pictures.

Profiles: Choose 3 members of Tudor or Stuart Royal Family. Create a profile for each person including information about their reign. Make sure you include:  When did they become King or Queen?  How long did they reign for? Were they or Protestant?  What were their main problems? How did they try to solve them?  What did they achieve? Were they popular or unpopular? Was their reign successful?

Parliament and Kings: Use the internet to research about how Kings and Queens worked with Parliament. What is Parliament today? What does it do? What is it for? Using the key words Draw and label a map of the houses of Parliament for your file.

Final Secret Service Recommendation: Choose one monarch to recommend as best leader of the UK. Why this monarch? Why should they be remembered?

Civil War: Investigate why the English Civil War was fought. What were the different soldiers fighting for? What were they called? How did the battle progress?

There are lots of books in the library that you can use to help you complete your project. You can also attend Humanities homework club which is on a Wednesday after school in B11.

You will also need to use the internet to do your own research on the Tudors, the Stuarts and Parliament. You can describe a Tudor King or Queen, and a Stuart King. 3 You can describe the role of Parliament. You can describe the English Civil War. 4 You can describe the differences between Kings and Queens. You can create an independent (not internet copy) Tudor family tree. 5 You can explain the kinds of change taking place. You can explain the different problems and solutions of the Tudor monarchy. 6 You explain HOW things changed and how much they changed (nature & extent).

You will also get an attitude/effort level for your project.

Attitude level Criteria:

1 (Outstanding) Project handed in on time All sections completed to a very high standard Presentation is exceptional 2 (Good) Project handed in on time Most sections are completed to a very high standard Presentation is good throughout 3 (Satisfactory) Project handed in on time Some sections are completed to a high standard but some sections have not fully met the criteria Presentation is clear but not planned. 4 (Inadequate) Project is late Some sections have not been completed Presentation is messy
