Commodore Mohammad Mozammel Haque joined as Officer Cadet on 15 April 1982. He attended basic cadet training in Bangladesh Naval Academy.On successful completion of basic training, he was commissioned in the Executive Branch in on 15 April 1985.

Commodore Mozammel attended various professional courses both at home and abroad and obtained 1stClass in all the graded courses. The courses include International Sub Lieutenant Course (ISLC) from UK, Gunnery Specialization Course from Pakistan, Action Speed Technical Trainer Course (ASTT) from Canada, Naval Staff Course from Defence Service Command & Staff College (DSCSC), Mirpur, Dhaka, Naval Staff Course from Pakistan, Disaster Management Course from Australia, France Language Course from Alliance Francaise , and National Defence Course (NDC) from National Defence College (NDC), Mirpur, Dhaka, Bangladesh.

He also obtained B.Sc (Hons.) from Behria University, Lahore, Pakistan and Masters in Strategic and Development Studies (MSDS) from Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) both with 1st Class.

During his illustrious career in the Navy, Commodore Mozammel successfully commanded ships of all sizes, which include 3 and Large Patrol Craft.

Prior to assumption of the Chairman of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), CommodoreMozammel was appointed as Drafting Authority (DA) of Bangladesh Navy Headquarters. Beside he also served at Naval Headquarters as Director Naval Operations (DNO) & Director Naval Plans (DNP). He commanded BNS Haji Mohsin, Bangladesh Naval Academy, BNS BANGABANDHU, BNS OSMAN, BNS UMAR FAROOQ, BNS MADHUMATI and BNS SAHJALAL. Commodore Mozammel participated in UN Mission under United Nations Interim force in (UNIFIL) in 2010 under Martin Task Force 448, where he commanded BNS OSMAN ()

He has been awarded with the “Nau Utkorsha Podak (NUP)” in 2014 For Outstanding Contribution for BN Development and has been awarded with CNS Commendation twice in 1987 & 2005 for his outstanding achievement in Anti-Smuggling Operations in Bay of Bengal.

Commodore Mozammel hails from the district of Munshiganj. He is married to Mehzaben Akther and has a closely-knit family of one son and one daughter. He loves to pass his leisure in travelling, reading various periodicals and plays golf.
