Newsletter 3 | Winter 2013 Project Construction New York City Department of Transportation, New York City Transit, and the New York City Department of Design and Construction are working hard to bring Select Bus Service (SBS) to Nostrand and Rogers Avenues. Construction will occur in two separate phases that are starting this year, one fully reconstructing northern Nostrand Avenue, and the other constructing SBS features on the other parts of the SBS route. Design Parking Regulations

This project will also build SBS stations at DeKalb Avenue and Fulton Street, and will paint a bus lane to the left of the right curb lane. • A new construction project will build SBS stations and bus lanes on Nostrand Avenue south of Atlantic Avenue, on Rogers Avenue, and on Bedford Avenue north of Dean Street. SBS Success in NYC SBS has already been implemented on the Bx12 route in the Bronx (2008), the M15 route on First and Second Avenues in Manhattan (2010), the M34 in Manhattan (2011), and the S79 in Staten Island (2012). SBS on the Bx12 and the M15 has provided significant benefits: • 15% to 20% faster trips • 33% reduction in time spent at bus stops • 10% reduction in all other travel time • Over 90% customer satisfaction • 10% ridership increase on the entire route, including SBS and local DOT and NYCT hope to achieve similar results on Nostrand and Rogers Avenues.
