Exciting Opportunity to Attend the 2020 European Scout Jamboree Exciting opportunity to attend the 2020 European Scout Jamboree Calling all leaders After a gap of nearly 15 years, since the UK hosted the last European Jamboree in 2005, the upcoming European Scout Jamboree will take place in Poland in July/August 2020. Building on the fantastic programme developed as part of their World Scout Jamboree bids the Scouts and Guides of Poland invite you to join them for 11 days of activities, combining the chance to develop new skills, make new friends from across Europe and experience Poland’s beautiful countryside. Based on its own island close to the city of Gdansk, the purpose built site is within walking distance of beautiful sandy beaches, pine forests and a short bus ride from the bustling city. For more information on this fantastic event visit: www.ej2020.org The Jamboree will be held on the same basis, and age ranges, as the World Scout Jamboree. We have also been allocated a unit of the same size as a World Scout Jamboree Unit. As a result we will be looking to recruit 4 leaders, to organise the unit, and 36 participants. As we expect demand to be high, a leader selection event will be held (date TBA) with a participant selection event held afterwards. Further details of the selection will be passed on to the districts, as it becomes available. At present we only details of the fee for the Jamboree itself (1850 Polish Zloty (approx. £376) for Leaders and participant and 1250 Polish Zloty (approx. £255) for IST), we do not have total costings which will include travel and insurance. In addition to the unit we have also been allocated 5 spaces on the International Service Team (IST). Any leaders that wish to express their interest in applying for a leadership position, should email me at: [email protected] Yours in scouting Karen Pettitt Assistant County Commissioner for International Suffolk Scouts .

We change lives by offering 6 to 25 year olds fun and challenging activities, unique experiences, everyday adventure and the chance to help others so that we make a positive impact in communities. Scouts helps children and young adults reach their full potential. Our members gain valuable skills for life including teamwork, time management, leadership, initiative, planning, communication, self-motivation, cultural awareness and commitment. We help young people to get jobs, save lives and even change the world. What do Scouts do? Scouts take part in a wide range of activities as diverse as kayaking, abseiling, expeditions overseas, photography, climbing and zorbing. As a Scout you can learn survival skills, first aid, computer programming or even how to fly a plane. There’s something for everyone. It’s a great way to have fun, make friends, get outdoors, express your creativity and experience the wider world. What do volunteers do? This everyday adventure is only possible thanks to our team of adult volunteers, who support Scouts in a wide range of roles from working directly with young people, to helping manage a local community based Group, to being a charity Trustee. We help volunteers get the most out of their experiences at Scouts by providing opportunities for adventure, training, fun and friendship.

  • Reporting – June, July, August and September 2017 Revised Edition
Reporting – June, July, August and September 2017 Revised edition October 2017 A word of introduction: Dear friends, Four months after our annual report, the committee is pleased to share with you a further update on progress achieved on our Regional Scout Plan. More and regular updates about the implementation of the Regional Scout Plan and the Resolutions of the last European Scout Conference in Norway have been requested by several NSOs after the World Scout Conference and we provide this gladly. Over the past year and a half, our teams of volunteers overseen by the Coordinators for each Area of Operation have made significant progress in achieving the objectives agreed at the beginning of the triennium. We want to use this opportunity again to thank all of the regional volunteers for their time, effort and knowledge that they invest in taking this journey together with us. Empowering our regional volunteers to lead on the operational work within the framework of the Regional Scout Plan with clearly defined responsibilities is still a process that we have not yet completed, but we are focussing on these new ways of working to also enable the European Scout Committee to take a more forward-facing view on the next Regional Scout Plan and the Strategy for Scouting in Europe for the next years to come. Following the inspiring World Scout Conference in Baku, with a strong united commitment to realise Vision 2023, the Committee also felt that we need to do more to align with the World triennial plan. In the recent years, we have seen major change on how our Movement works and in the dynamics of the reciprocity between regions and the world level.
