On the 18th of January, Scouts go Solar activities were realised at the Vijayanagar local association rally 2019- 2020 in the Bangalore Scout district. Over 30 young Scouts were experimenting with the sun through pro- ducing solar art, playing the car race by reflecting rays of light onto a solar panel and drawing solar pictures with the solar spinning disc. Before the activities, they were informed about the dangers of the sun and were making their own sunglasses to protect their eyes. They were informed about the advantages of solar energy and how they can easily use it during their daily lives. Figure 4: Young Scouts are showing their solar art, January 2020.. On the 22nd of January, the Solar Ambassador Asif Mahmood realised an Energy Conservation Workshop at the Public High School Kutchery Road in the city of Sial- kot. In collaboration with the Punjab Energy Efficiency and Conservation Agency, 43 young students were learning about the advantages of renewable energies and solar energy. They learned how to be more energy efficient in their everyday lives and were introduced to useful solar gadgets as well as games. On the 23rd of January, the advanced member of the solar force and becoming Solar Ambassador Chansak Sanguan- kiattisuk realised an extensive Scouts go Solar workshop at the middle school of Thamuangradbumrung in Tha Muang. Equipmentwise, he kindly was supported by the Suankularb Wittayalai Thonburi School. During the work- shop, the pupils could compete in the solar car race on a special “somular 1” car racetrack. For a snack, omelets and rice were being cooked on the big parabolic solar cooker. The pupils also learned how to make their own sundial and how to disinfect water with the sun. On the 23rd of January, the first Scouts go Solar Training was organised by the Solar Ambassador Eduardo Lima and the coordinator of the Scout Region of Goias, Luiz Botosso, at the Scenes Centre BASE Escoteira de Pesquisa e Educação Ambiental in Goias. The entire team of the centre of 18 Scout leaders was introduced to Scouts go Solar activities: They were making their own sunglasses and sundials, were soldering solar LED lamps and playing the solar car race. The Scout leaders were also experimenting extensively with solar cooking: They were building their own Copenhagen Cooker and cooked with it. They made popcorn with the big para- bolic solar cooker and tried several types of commercial solar cook- ers. On the 25th of January, the Scout Organization of Bhu- tan organised a Scouts go Solar workshop for 78 chil- dren and 8 adults from the royal military quarter of Thimphu. At different workstations, the participants could experience the solar suitcase, the solar fountain, solar lamps and fans. In addition, they could produce solar art themselves and run races with solar toys. They cooked their lunch with a parabolic solar cooker. The National Scout Organization of Bhutan has been in- terested in providing a solid solar education to Scouts and non-Scouts since 2019. To this end, group leaders were taught by our Thai Solar Ambassador Piromsak Kidputtanasombut in the summer of 2019 and various solar materials were purchased. Figure 9: Participants of the Scouts go Solar Workshop are cooking eggs with the parabolic solar cooker, January 2020. At the end of January, the Solar Ambassador Rhodah Ndegwa was representing Scouts go Solar at an infor- mation event for Noman women in Marsabit. She in- formed the women about how easily they can use solar energy by giving an extensive presentation and leading a follow-up discussion. Afterwards, she equipped each family with a portable, lightweight solar lamp. The fami- lies were usually using torches, which are not always re- liable, as the dry cells are not always available in the vil- lage shops. With a solar lamp, which simply charges it- self, dangers such as scorpions at night can be avoided. Moreover, the solar lamps are making it easier for the family to do the housework and for the children to do their homework. FEBRUARY From the 30th of January – 2nd of February, Scouts go So- lar workshops were realised for girl groups at the Falcon Grammar School Camp 2020. The groups made solar art, experienced the solar fountain and learned about solar cooking and how to make their own parabolic DIY cooker with aluminum foil. Figure 11: A young girl Scout is producing solar art, February 2020. At the beginning of February, our experienced Solar Ambassador Bernando de Leon led a Scouts go Solar workshop for the 30 employees of the council of Basi- lan. He showed them how to build solar materials themselves, which will help the population in emer- gency situations as after typhoons. Together they con- structed the solar suitcase with LED lamps and a USB port, soldered LED solar lamps and built a simple solar cooker. He also showed them various solar games, with which they can inform children about the use of solar Figure 12: Our Solar Ambassador Bernando de Leon is giving the energy. council members of Basilan a Scouts go Solar workshop as a preven- tive measurement after typhoons, February 2020. On the 15th of February, Eswatini Solar Ambassador Hu- lumende Mavuso realised a Souts go Solar workshop for 40 Eswatini Scouts. At 36 degrees Celsius, they were ex- perimenting with different solar equipment: they were us- ing the 12-volt solar iron, were playing the solar beep game and solar grasshopper race as well as the coloured bottle game.

We change lives by offering 6 to 25 year olds fun and challenging activities, unique experiences, everyday adventure and the chance to help others so that we make a positive impact in communities. Scouts helps children and young adults reach their full potential. Our members gain valuable skills for life including teamwork, time management, leadership, initiative, planning, communication, self-motivation, cultural awareness and commitment. We help young people to get jobs, save lives and even change the world. What do Scouts do? Scouts take part in a wide range of activities as diverse as kayaking, abseiling, expeditions overseas, photography, climbing and zorbing. As a Scout you can learn survival skills, first aid, computer programming or even how to fly a plane. There’s something for everyone. It’s a great way to have fun, make friends, get outdoors, express your creativity and experience the wider world. What do volunteers do? This everyday adventure is only possible thanks to our team of adult volunteers, who support Scouts in a wide range of roles from working directly with young people, to helping manage a local community based Group, to being a charity Trustee. We help volunteers get the most out of their experiences at Scouts by providing opportunities for adventure, training, fun and friendship.

Reporting – June, July, August and September 2017 Revised edition October 2017 A word of introduction: Dear friends, Four months after our annual report, the committee is pleased to share with you a further update on progress achieved on our Regional Scout Plan. More and regular updates about the implementation of the Regional Scout Plan and the Resolutions of the last European Scout Conference in Norway have been requested by several NSOs after the World Scout Conference and we provide this gladly. Over the past year and a half, our teams of volunteers overseen by the Coordinators for each Area of Operation have made significant progress in achieving the objectives agreed at the beginning of the triennium. We want to use this opportunity again to thank all of the regional volunteers for their time, effort and knowledge that they invest in taking this journey together with us. Empowering our regional volunteers to lead on the operational work within the framework of the Regional Scout Plan with clearly defined responsibilities is still a process that we have not yet completed, but we are focussing on these new ways of working to also enable the European Scout Committee to take a more forward-facing view on the next Regional Scout Plan and the Strategy for Scouting in Europe for the next years to come. Following the inspiring World Scout Conference in Baku, with a strong united commitment to realise Vision 2023, the Committee also felt that we need to do more to align with the World triennial plan. In the recent years, we have seen major change on how our Movement works and in the dynamics of the reciprocity between regions and the world level.
