FRIDAY Afternoon A fun start to the programme with two very musical local primary nd 2 TBC schools joining together OCTOBER

Vocal Accord in concert 8.00 pm An exciting and vibrant North choir which has built up a strong Church following; they combine a lively approach with beautiful harmonies. £5 Music includes pop, jazz, classical, close-harmony, a cappella, barbershop, folksongs, madrigals, and more…

Vocal Recital. Emma Tonkins and fellow singers. Susan Steele, 2 – 4pm piano Church Emma is an experienced performer, teacher and inspiration to the larger number of students £3 she has taught. She brings together a number of her current students to give a wide ranging recital with a number of pieces from the musical theatre. Trained at the Royal College, Susan is a fabulous pianist with an international reputation

Exevox In Concert 6 pm Exevox is an award winning Exeter based choir who are celebrating their Church 10th anniversary. They perform something for everyone, from sacred £8 pieces to the Beatles. “Excellent choral blend in a brilliant, engaging, exciting programme” and I was very taken with the group cohesion, the sense of fun (so many smiles at the end of pieces), the professionalism, the information before the pieces, and of course the glorious sound..”

Swymbridge Consort – “Mystical Union – Music for 9.30 pm Contemplation” Church After the excitement of Exevox a chance to enjoy the candlelit church as four local singers FREE ( Becky, Laura, Pete and Simon ) bring a programme of music and readings for contemplation; including works by Byrd, Whitacre and Tavener among others.

BELLA VOCE 12 noon Nigel Brooks brings his talented ensemble Bella Voce to open our afternoon , starting our theme of musical theatre which carries on into the evening. Nigel is internationally renowned as a performer and teacher and director of several ensembles including the Nigel Brooks Singers.

Susan Steele, piano. “ Sweet love thou dost 1.30 pm invite – a recital of English song “ Church Pete sings with Vocal Accord and, after Jose Carreras pulled out, has taken this opportunity to £3 indulge his love of English song in a programme of works exploring the often bitter-sweet nature of love. It includes songs by Dowland, Gurney, Finzi, Britten, Butterworth and Warlock.

“Come and Sing” Singing Workshop with Frances Bell and 3.00 – members of the Community Choir 5pm Frances is an inspirational teacher and is deeply involved a wide range of local Church projects including the Barnstaple Community choir, Young Guitarists, youth choirs, £5 Newport School and the recent “Songs of the Sea” at the Queens Theatre Come and enjoy singing in the workshop, with the chance to perform in that evening’s concert ENCORE! Songs from the Shows 6.00 pm Encore! is a theatrical singing group made up of performers from the area, Church many of whom have sung as principals in major musical theatre productions in £5 North Devon and beyond. Over the last few years the group has had great success with their theatrical concerts which help raise funds for local charities. Their mix of four-part harmony singing, duets and solos of favourite songs from the shows, both old and new, has received notable reviews in and around the West Country. The emphasis is on quality singing and entertainment, brought together with a theatrical twist, creating a memorable and thoroughly enjoyable musical event for all the family. It promises to be a fantastic finale to our weekend celebrating the voice.
