A new academic year is open amid the Covid Pandemic. The Major Archbishop Cardinal Mar George Alencherry earlier in the month of June inaugurated the online orientation classes for Catechism teachers coordinated by the Catechetical Commission. These classes were on 18 different topics, well-received by the teachers. The people are now accustomed to managing daily life in a protocol that is in place during this Covid Pandemic. It is indeed a happy note that the people are now queuing up to receive Covid vaccination while the nation is at the threshold of a third wave!
The Sabhadhinam commemorated on Dukhrana, was kept very simple in the context of the Covid Pandemic yet again this year.
We are saddened at the demise of Father Stan Swamy, a great philanthropist who stood for the marginalized and the poor. The recent attack on a Syro-Malabar Church at Lado Sarai in Delhi is reprehensible.
The Major Archbishop Cardinal Mar George Alencherry has requested prayers for the fruitful completion of the forthcoming Syro-Malabar Bishops Synod that commencing on 16 August 2021.

Orientation Classes for Catechism Teachers Inaugurated
Kakkanad: Major Archbishop Cardinal Mar George Alencherry inaugurated the online orientation classes for Catechism teachers led by the Syro-Malabar Church Catechetical Commission. The Word of God and worship are two facets of faith training. In his inaugural address, Cardinal Alencherry said that through faith formation, we must become a community that attests to Jesus, and that this initiative is the need of the hour and that all catechetical teachers should participate in it. The Catechetical Commission Chairman, Archbishop Mar George Njaralakkad presided over the online meeting. Commission members Mar Lawrence Mukuzhi and Mar Joseph Arumachadathu felicitated the gathering online. Catechism Director of the eparchy of Mananthavady Fr.
