Annual Pilgrimage: Indian American Catholic Association (IACA), Washington DC plans to have its Annual Pilgrimage to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, in honor of Our Lady of Good Health, Vailankanni, on Saturday September 7th, 2013. Since IACA established the Oratory to Our Lady of Good Health, Vailankanni at the National Shrine in 1997, it has been organizing devotional activities including the Pilgrimage, every year. IACA’s Annual Pilgrimage is a major event that brings together a large number of Catholics from Indian subcontinent, living in the United States. This is also a unique occasion to showcase the diverse faith traditions and practices that have been in existence in South Asia for many centuries. This year’s
Pilgrimage Mass will be celebrated in Syro Malabar Rite, one of the largest Eastern Rite Catholic Churches, originated in Kerala, India. The Pilgrimage Mass will be celebrated by the Major Archbishop and Head of Syro Malabar Catholic Church, His Eminence George Cardinal Alencherry as the main celebrant. Cardinal
Alencherry will be joined by His Eminence Donald Cardinal Wuerl, Archbishop of Washington and His
Excellency Mar Jacob Angadiath, Bishop of St. Thomas Syro IACAMalabar Christmas Diocese of Chicago and many priests, to con-celebrate the Pilgrimage Mass. Cardinal Wuerl will also preachCelebrations Homily at the Mass. Pilgrimage will begin at 1:00 pm. IACA invites all to join this celebration. &
