The availability of and toddler care in Rice county is very limited and hard to find. If you would like assistance locating infant or toddler care, please contact [email protected]. Please include your name and contact information along with the start date of , days and hours you will need care for your child/ren, the ages of your child/ren, and the community in which you will need care to be provided. The following definitions apply to and group family childcare:

MN STATUTE 245A.02 DEFINITIONS

Subd. 19. Family day care and group family day care child age classifications.

(a) For the purposes of family day care and group family day care licensing under this chapter, the following terms have the meanings given them in this subdivision.

(b) "Newborn" means a child between birth and six weeks old.

(c) "Infant" means a child who is at least six weeks old but less than 12 months old.

(d) "Toddler" means a child who is at least 12 months old but less than 24 months old, except that for purposes of specialized infant and toddler family and group family day care, "toddler" means a child who is at least 12 months old but less than 30 months old.

(e) "Preschooler" means a child who is at least 24 months old up to school age.

(f) "School age" means a child who is at least five years of age, but is younger than 11 years of age.

CLASS A

 A total of 10 children. (Provider must include all her own children under the age of 11 years in her enrollment).  Of that total, 4 may be school-age children and; 6 may be under school-age.  Of the children under school-age, no more than a total of 3 may be and toddlers and; of those children, no more than 2 may be infants.

CLASS C1

 A total of 10 children. (Provider must include all her own children under the age of 11 years in her enrollment).  Of that total, 2 may be school-age children and; 8 may be under school-age.  Of the children under school-age, no more than a total of 3 may be infants and toddlers and; of those children, no more than 2 may be infants.

CLASS C2

 A total of 12 children. (Provider must include all her own children under the age of 11 years in her enrollment).  Of that total, 2 may be school-age children and; 10 may be under school-age.  Of the children under school-age, no more than a total of 2 may be infants and toddlers and; of those children, no more than 1 may be infants.

CLASS C3

 A total of 14 children. (Provider must include all her own children under the age of 11 years in her enrollment).  Of that total, 4 may be school-age children and; 10 may be under school-age.  Of the children under school-age, no more than a total of 4 may be infants and toddlers and; of those children, no more than 3 may be infants.
