PARKS IN SOME MOSCOW 1. GORKY CENTRAL PARK OF CULTURE AND LEISURE Gorky Park is the capital’s central park, with more than 40,000 visitors on weekdays and 250,000 on weekends and public holidays. Since 2011, the park has been setting new standards, becoming Russian’s first world-class park and a space for recreation, sport, dance and outdoor games. Once again, Park is free. 3. SOKOLNIKI PARK The “Sokolniki” park is a unique one. It is the oldest park in Moscow and one of the biggest in Europe. Several centuries ago, Sokolniki was considered as the king’s resting place but it is now a property of the citizenry as well as tourist site. You can view the park live online. PARK 850TH ANNIVERSARY OF MOSCOW Park of the 850th Anniversary of Moscow with a commemorative stone laid at the opening of the park is located on the banks of the Moscow River, along the Batayskiy driveway and Porechnaya street. It is an amusement park with rides for the young ones, Cafe, free children playground and attractions for the whole family: slides, track, and race track among others.
