I live in Quedgeley and work in . For me to get home after work I am forced to catch 3 buses via Quedgeley Fieldcourt , Gloucester, then into Quedgeley. It is very hard work. Service should remain as at present with an hourly service after 08.30 everyday. Quedgeley Fieldcourt As I work nights both options will affect my options of getting to work by public transport. Quedgeley Severn Vale Berkeley will be cut off, not much left. Berkeley Depends on the actual timing of the two hourly via Kingsway for Option 1. Dursley Bus service rail bus 210 is an absolute lifeline for me and many others. Dursley Worse if you only have Dursley to Quedgeley and then have to change to another bus as it could be difficult to go Dursley further, or could miss connections. It is bad enough when the bus breaks down. Do not cut services please. I work evenings and in the dark or bad weather it is not safe as lone female to travel. Hardwicke Mainly for going shopping, but there is not at bus at 14.15 to get to Dursley before 15.00, i.e. for the children Cam West coming out of school. if an evening bus was only run on a Fri/sat i would be limited seeing family and having a social drink with them on Quedgeley Fieldcourt other nights Of the 2 options option 1 is the lesser of 2 evils. I often return from work after 8.30 p.m. after a long journey and Quedgeley Severn Vale both these options would mean I would incur more expense. It also means that I would be unable to attend social events in the Town Centre particularly evening midweek rugby matches at Kingsholm. If either proposal has to occur, then option 1 is the better as it provides people with a method to get to/from the city Quedgeley Severn Vale centre. Otherwise, people on already tight budgets will be forced to use private transport. This will also increase the number of cars parking in Gloucester of an evening, something that is normally opposite to most council parking policies. People are getting the impression that they are getting little value for money from their council taxes, so adding a further burden of reducing bus services seems flawed. Unless statistical evidence can be provided that the buses are not providing the taxpayer value for money during the evening service (i.e. they are underused) then no change should occur on any route. The number 14 bus is now almost empty at 09.00 because we cannot use our bus pass. The number 14 bus is The Stanleys now full by the time it gets to Stonehouse so people getting on have to stand all the way to Gloucester, even when getting on at Kingsway or Quedgeley. Young mothers with pushchairs are unable to get on as there is no Most of the buses run empty. Cut the quantity of buses to Kingsway and put the number 14 from Stroud to Hardwicke Gloucester back on the route to go pass the Starting Gate. Prefer the service remains as the existing. Quedgeley Fieldcourt The Stanleys are not mentioned. Will the Stroud/Gloucester service still go via the Stanleys? The Stanleys Desire late evening service to return from meetings in Gloucester. Uplands The times of the bus to Cheltenham/Gloucester needs to tie in with arrival times in Stroud. Chalford Very disappointed with the roadshow. They could not answer any questions. A waste of time. Severn I am relieved that the hourly service will be retained throughout the day, thank you. Will the Sunday service be The Stanleys continued as at present? Even out the timetables of the 91/A and the 14B better between Gloucester and Quedgeley to give an hourly Quedgeley Severn Vale service. As I work nights both options will affect my options of getting to work by public transport. Quedgeley Severn Vale I start work at Waterwells at 08.00 and leave at 17.00, 5 days per week. Severn It's such a shame to make public transport unpopular in the county and council's madness!! Amberley and A very good service, frequent buses, friendly drivers. Stonehouse 14A is for paid employment, 113 is for shopping and leisure. Severn The members of Leonard Parish Council agreed that option 2 was the better of the choices. What about the Sunday 14B services? Value this service as only bus from Merrywalks/Cainscross/Stonehouse Sandywell on these days and used for work journeys to Stroud Station. Longer journeys require connections at Gloucester. Central If the hourly service to Stroud was made a seperate route, then it could include Old Hempsted, instead of going Westgate down the bypass. The remainder of the 14 service could be rescheduled to a 20 minute service. We need this bus to run every day, not just Friday and Saturday, to Stroud, unless you provide another route to Farmhill and Paganhill Stroud in the evening. A bus service for Hempsted bypass is needed. Westgate This service is not an adequate substitute for OAPs returning with shopping and faced with a 10 minute walk Westgate uphill. Could some journeys be diverted via Hempsted Lane? There is no mention of any changes to the Sunday service An earlier routs to Stroud would better serve my needs - I currently have to walk from Kings Stanley to Ryeford to catch the 20 need evening buses as public sector workers are unable to fund increasing taxi fares without pay rises Quedgeley Fieldcourt The proposal is 1) reduce the evening service, or 2) remove it altogether apart from Friday and Saturday. This Quedgeley Fieldcourt would leave Kingsway without an evening bus service, there is no other link to Gloucester city centre. We often attend evening meetings at central locations, or enjoy social evenings out, and rely on the bus service to get to and from these! As far as I know they are not making any changes to these but routes that i use. I will be affected by some other bus route changes which i know you are proposing to change such as the 26. Chalford and the large surrounding area has a very large size, not similar i would say to Stonehouse. Therefore I think it is very important that this bus service is not reduced as so many people use it for work, school, shopping and communication. I understand some routes are not making you money but this one is an incredibly important one. Kingsway was built as a commuter Village and we already suffer from poor transport links as it is. For people Quedgeley Fieldcourt who want to go into the city in the evening for meetings and socially will suffer because of these changes. There is not enough Parking on Kingsway and so we are encouraged to use public transport more. Many residents work in Bristol, Innsworth and Cheltenham, a well priced bus service would see the uptake rate rise. Reducing the evening service will be very restrictive to residents who work later and get the Train into Gloucester and the bus home. Ideally the Shuttle Bus could drop at Waterwells P&R because there is a waiting room on site and the buses are Severn more frequent than linking with the other Quedgeley services. Option 2 would give a minimum service which would be OK for me currently while in work full-time but would not be any good for other current users who travel for shopping or visiting family members. OF US HAVE FOUND THAT WHEN WE SHOW OUR SENIOR BUS PASS AND TELL THE DRIVER THE NAME OF OUR BUS STOP, SOME DRIVERS TEND TO PUNCH THE FURTHEST STOP, WHICH WE BELIEVE IS TOTALLY WRONG e.g.. if we board the bus @ the boots stop to come to say, either Sainsburys/or secunda way stops, some drivers have punched quedgeley tesco/kingsway stop; on confronting the driver, he has simply told us 'it does not make any difference to you.' SO WHY ARE SOME PUNCHING THE WRONG DESTINATION ? for more profit to Stagecoach ? they must get extra money for the distance we have NOT travelled. Suggestion: The County Council should clearly state somewhere obvious, in the bus/bus stops/shelter, that passengers should check their tickets, to make sure that it shows the correct destination on their ticket, and if that is not the case, then who/where they can go to report this kind of fraud. This is clearly fraud committed by the bus-drivers and should be stopped immediately. * The same also tends to happen on bus service coming from heron way also because we know of pensioners who travel to and from that area. * We would also like to have the old times back when we can use our senior bus passes at 9am, instead of 9.30pm - if we have an early morning go/hospital appointment then we have to pay, and it is rather difficult for us, pensioners, and this is causing us further hardship in these times of osterity. thank you for taking this on board. TRAVEL ON (GLOUCESTER - CHELTENHAM - OXFORD)SERVICE 853 RETURNING FROM OXFORD ON THE 18:00 Nailsworth DEPARTURE FROM OXFORD, 6 TIMES A YEAR. USE THE 14 (GLOUCESTER - STROUD) SERVICE TO RETURN TO STROUD, DEPARTING GLOUCESTER AT 20:00. WITHDRAWING THIS EVENIONG SERVICE WOULD NECESSITATE USING EITHER A TRAIN OR TAXI TO RETURN HOME FROM GLOUCESTER. The number 14 is a vital service to the people of Kingsway. After all this is built as a green village yet there are Quedgeley Fieldcourt proposed cuts to the bus service. I have just moved here and am looking to get rid of my car which of course wont be possible if the bus service is cut. This is a vital link to the centre of Gloucester for this area of Quedgley. the 14 service is essential in getting in and out of gloucester to work each morning and evening Quedgeley Fieldcourt I use the evening bus service instead of driving to an event. I feel that proposal 1 is best to continue to Quedgeley Fieldcourt accomodate the needs of people who rely on the evening service as part of their social life. This does not seem to be considered in the questions on this survey KINGS STANLEY PARISH COUNCIL is not aware of the needs of individual service users as it does not have the The Stanleys capacity to carry out in depth surveys of the travelling public. As this issue is receiving widespread publicity we hope that the service providers are also involved in this to encourage service users to give their feedback and keep using th services. The Parish Council regards service 14 as an essential link with the wider network and would not wsh to see any reduction in the level of service currently provided. The same would be true for any other service that passes regularly through Kings Stanley. The 14/b service needs more buses on sundays, bank holidays and evenings. To cut or reduce the service would Quedgeley Fieldcourt be incredibly detrimental to our neighbourhood. The only way I am able to continue adult education and work the late shifts that are a compulsory part of my Stonehouse job is by the running of at least one bus, Gloucester to the Stanleys, evenings after 7pm. The 9pm bus in particular is very convinent and often busy. I occasionally need to get from Gloucester to Cashes Green, Stroud after 6 pm. Currently I can get the 14 but it only gets me to Stonehouse, or much later to Stroud centre. There are no connecting services to Cashes Green at these times. I also use the 14 if I stay out late after work, but the latest service is 2300 and this is not late enough, plus again there is no connection to cashes Green. I also would like to be able to get from Bristol to Stroud late at night. Currently the latest train gets to Gloucester at the same time as the 14 leaves. Often there is a replacement bus service, which means I cannot get to stroud at all. By cutting the evening services in the week it would mean we could not get home from the centre on the week Quedgeley Fieldcourt days. We would not be able to attend meetings or be able to go to the cinema mid week with no evening bus. If reducing / withdrawing evening buses from Gloucester to Stroud altogether, replace with one mid-late evening bus on route 93 instead, allowing for Stroud persons to get back from Gloucester. Maybe extend to Nailsworth or Stonehouse?? a later night service would be great from town to kingsway and think this would be used a LOT Quedgeley Fieldcourt When is the information evening in Stonehouse or did you not think it necessary? Stonehouse this service is already only hourly, any less would make it unnatractive to use Stonehouse Use route 14 on Friday / Saturady evening to get into town. A reduction on these days will mean a take will be required, increasing pollution ect. Proposal 2 is preferred The evening service, or lack of it, will make a big difference to me getting around. It might be better for us in Horsley if we had three journeys every day to Wotton and back. Nailsworth The community needs these services. This service is vital for me. It enables me to attend the Ophthalmology Department at Stroud Hospital. Wotton-under-Edge If this bus is taken off myself and others will never go to Nailsworth or Stroud. We haven't a car to fall back on. Wotton-under-Edge Dursley has a lot more buses than us, why? We all pay Council Tax. Cannot comment without knowing times of the journeys in option 2. I use the bus in preference to the car Wotton-under-Edge because of the environmental impact. Impossible to get to the train station. Also, impossible to get to hospital appointments. Wotton-under-Edge We will have no service at all. Wotton-under-Edge Route 40 at its best only just provides a necessary link with train connections at Stroud. Any change will Wotton-under-Edge probably break this tenuous link. Soon I will be unable to afford to run a car, so a bus service is imperative for me to continue working in Stroud. We will have no service to Stroud at all and a lot of us have no car. How much money have the Council got in Wotton-under-Edge offshore bank accounts? Are the Executives taking pay cuts? It appears that the Council is very willing to take the taxes needed but very reluctant to provide some of the most basic needs for Wotton. We appear last in line for consideration. We have no choice of shops. Reduction in journeys would be better. I am disabled and find it difficult to catch a bus from Kingswood to Wotton each way to catch this bus, Kingswood otherwise would use it more often. Need to get to Stroud's railway station for the 10.10 train to London. Wotton-under-Edge It is the only way to get to the railway station for the 10.10 train to London. Wotton-under-Edge The current timetable allows me to use the bus to work in Nailsworth from Wotton, but there is no return Wotton-under-Edge evening/late afternoon bus on a Saturday. I need the link through to Stroud to get to hospital appointments in Cheltenham (cancer treatment.) The 09.00 Wotton-under-Edge bus is essential to me. Catch the bus from Horsley (0924) to Nailsworth to connect to the bus for Stroud for the doctors, to do my shopping in Nailsworth. I return at 12.43 to Horsley. It would depend on the times to fit in with work. Nailsworth Option 2 would make life impossible for active people who no longer run a car. Nailsworth I don't use this service, but sometimes it goes to Stroud, which is duplicating routes 46 and 93. Re-route the 40 Nailsworth from Nailsworth, through to Avening and from Wotton, or even Dursley. Passengers from Wotton wishing to travel to Stroud could use a transfer ticket to continue their journey to Stroud, either on route 46 or 93. By re-routing service number 40 through to Avening and Tetbury, it would give people more scope for shopping. ** To visit the doctor/dentist I have to walk one way and sometimes both ways. I had to have a taxi from Stroud Nailsworth Hospital as there was no bus to Horsley. I have a grandson that works part-time in Nailsworth and also goes to Stroud College. His sister will be starting college in September. They must be able to have access to public transport. The Government tells us to use the buses, we cannot use what we haven't got. My car went years ago. ** If all buses to Gloucester, Bristol and Stroud are cut, Wotton will be completely cut off from any town and will Wotton-under-Edge be like an island. I appreciate that some service will have to be cut but compared to Dursley, we do not have a very good service as it is. Why do they always have to be considered so much better than Wotton? Please do not take the bus off from Wotton. A reduced service could be manageable and preferable. Wotton-under-Edge Getting to hospital appointments. Wotton-under-Edge Option would be okay as long as there was several buses going and not just one per day. Nailsworth The number 40 gives access to Stroud Hospital and links to bus services to Cheltenham. These links would be Wotton-under-Edge lost. Why go to Cam and Dursley Station, how are we linking with Dursley/Stroud bus number 20? Is the driver Wotton-under-Edge staying there until it's time to come back. There are no toilets at this station. The services are spaced only once every 2 hours, it should be hourly! Amberley and Woodchester Why isn't there an early morning service to arrive in Stroud by 8.00 a.m., enabling people to work a day shift? Kingswood I go to Wotton via Stroud to see my elderly parents so Option 1 would be better than Option 2. Westgate Possibly be better if buses co-ordinate giving better scope to travel to other areas of the county. Nailsworth You could save money by cutting it back to Nailsworth (connect with 46), but I need a regular service. Prestbury I am elderly and need the doctor surgery in Nailsworth, so Option 1 is much better and also, I need the bus to Nailsworth go shopping. A service linking Nailsworth with Cam and Dursley Train Station, would be of great benefit in visiting Bristol, Nailsworth especially for retired people who are not wishing, or able to, take a car into the centre of Bristol. Without evening buses I am seldom getting outside Nailsworth/Horsley, except to shop or get to the doctors. A Nailsworth service to Cam Station would be very good, e.g. Bristol Airport or the centre. Not being able to use the pass before 09.30 severely restricts the service that I can provide for a relative in Wotton and any further complications cause great hardship. I go to the dentist in Wotton and don't want to wait 3 hours for a bus back. Central Need to visit family. Wotton-under-Edge I am not on the phone and live in a village with no public payphone. A Dial A Ride service will be of no use to me. I have occasional outpatient appointments at Stroud Hospital and lifts are not always available. Wotton-under-Edge Lack of a regular service to Stroud would be very inconvenient. Nailsworth I strongly support option 1 for Service 40.If anything the extension of the journey to Cam and Dursley rail station improves options for travel to Glos and Bristol while maintaining the Wotton link to Stroud as it is at the moment. My friend and i live in Wotton under Edge and if you remove the 40 route we won't be able to get to Wotton-under-Edge Nailsworth or Stroud for all of the ticked above reasons and please work out how much a taxi would charge and you will find the bus route to be cheaper because as on low income it is impossible to afford taxi services.Me and my friend uses route 40 every week day from 9am to 5.45pm Travel would be improved as far as Wotton-under-Edge if connections were made with Bristol bound First 'Bus Nailsworth 311. Wotton-under-Edge to and from Dursley journeys are covered by First 'Bus 311. Option 1 would improve access to Cam and Dursley trains, good for me. Please get the bus and train times Wotton-under-Edge integrated. I use this service from Stroud to Horsley 4 days per week. I can just get the last bus if the train arrives on time. Nailsworth So if you channge the frequency please bear the train times in mind. I would also use the service in the morning if it arrived in time for the London train at 7:05am. I like the idea of this route being extended to Dursley. If you went with Option 2, I should like to know in advance which 3 journies would be running. My Son is at Wotton-under-Edge Stroud College; he travels in to Stroud on the 504 (School Bus) and returns to Wotton on the 40 which leaves Stroud at 5.30pm. I need to know that he can still continue his education. Regarding Option 1, I most likely will not be able to afford to travel to Stroud if I have to travel via Dursley unless you are going to come to an agreement between Stagecoach and FirstBus that cuts the cost of passengers having to use two different bus companies. It currently costs me 6.00 for an Explorer ticket (also my Son purchases an Explorer for his college travel). It costs me 3.25 one way from Wotton on FirstBus, and then 3.30 on Stagecoach to Stroud (if travelling from Cam). I don't know the return cost for either service but it will still cost more than I am currently paying, therefore I may be unable to afford to travel to Stroud any more. Proposal 1 Why are you planning to extend in a reverse direction? Extend to station. Its only 3 miles further. Proposal 2 Why the need to continue to Stroud? Is this for the convenience of the operator? Nailsworth to Stroud well served. Operate from Nailsworth to Yate station offer people as real alternative. Alternative Change operator to South . Request they operate one of their Yate to Wotton services to Nailsworth every 2 or 3 hours Service Number 91/91A

Use Quedgeley- Gloucester City service 7 days for voluntary work. Appreciate cuts necessary, happy with changes Quedgeley Fieldcourt Mon-Sat as already a very good service. Sunday service already had cut-backs. Already reduced to use No. 10 to Lower and walk mile and a half home. Cost efficient to combine both services on Sunday as the old night service did. The 91 is only bus to Slimbridge Wetlands Trust, although only on Sunday and Bank Holiday Mon. ** WWT Slimbridge is a very popular leisure destination. A bus from Gloucester to Slimbridge on a Sunday would be well used. We need a Sunday service. Berkeley Even out the timetables of the 91/A and the 14B better between Gloucester and Quedgeley to give an hourly service. Quedgeley Severn Vale

Rely on the Sunday bus to visit family. Cam East For leisure. Severn The numbers 12 and 91 should be merged into just one service, less confusing. Dursley Worse if you only have Dursley to Quedgeley and then have to change to another bus as it could be difficult to go Dursley further, or could miss connections. It is bad enough when the bus breaks down. Lack of buses will affect tourism. Visitors to the area like to use frequent buses as I hear often as a volunteer at Wotton-under-Edge Wotton Heritage Centre. Without a better, not worse bus service, people will be unable to shop, go to the hospital. Mainly for going shopping, but there is not at bus at 14.15 to get to Dursley before 15.00, i.e. for the children Cam West coming out of school. Wish the 91 bus ran a bit later on a Friday and Saturday so we could go to the cinema. Use the Sunday service to Frampton at 12.25 to go and 15.20 to return. Option 2 - needs reliable interchange at Quedgeley. Dursley again this form discriminates against me as i use the bus on a Sunday for going into town shopping. i feel that Quedgeley Fieldcourt more people would use it if it was more frequent. The current 91A bus service serves WWT Slimbridge and as such those of us who regularly go to Slimbridge on a Sunday would be deprived of the pleasure of visiting a local tourist attraction. Having said that my wife, myself and friends do not drive and cannot otherwise get there. Perhaps the bus company could be asked to use a bus with less seats so that GCC does not have to pay for too many empty seats We use the 91 to get to slimbridge bird park. At the moment this is only an option on a sunday. We would like the Quedgeley Fieldcourt service to go there in the week too. or at least on a saturday. We are not able to get there anyother way. I use Mike's bus to Gloucester when I visit relatives by train. I only need to cross from bus station to train station. Wotton-under-Edge This is a very reliable service. Too far to walk at my age and with my health concerns. Cam West If you take this service off I will have considerable expense in getting to my hospital appointments. The journey Wotton-under-Edge would be too long, via 2 buses and via Dursley. The community needs these services. No car so use all the time. I also rely solely on this service as I can walk from Gloucester Bus Station to the Royal Hospital to attend the Wotton-under-Edge Audiology Department. A well used service could run for example twice weekly, rather than removing altogether. Changing at Dursley Wotton-under-Edge would be very expensive and could also involve a two hour wait for a return bus to Wotton-under-Edge. Going to Gloucester easily by bus is an escape. Any alteration would be a disaster. Wotton-under-Edge Bus travel is a great alternative to car travel. Wotton-under-Edge Because of the lack of shops in Wotton, travel to Gloucester is needed for essential clothes and food, which the Co- Wotton-under-Edge Op does not provide. The executives should take any pay cuts. Wotton-under-Edge Only direct bus to Gloucester. Need to take mobility, i.e. getting on and off buses, into account. Kingswood Only direct bus to Gloucester - does not account for mobility, i.e. changing buses. Need the bus for hospital appointments. Do not want to change buses. Wotton-under-Edge We do not want a "ring and ride" only bus to Gloucester. We do need this bus. Wotton-under-Edge Regular visits to hospital will be stopped. Taxis are expensive. A 3 day bus service would be well supported. Wotton-under-Edge We Live in Wotton and we will use this bus for items that we cannot buy here. Wotton-under-Edge Would find it difficult to change buses. Wotton-under-Edge We really depend on this service. It's like a lifeline. Any cuts would be devastating for our life. It's wonderful to be Wotton-under-Edge able to travel easily to Gloucester. Any cuts would be like making us live on an island! We only have this service once in at 11a.m. and then one back at 1p.m. It is very important for us without cars Westgate who live in Hempsted. I will be unable to get to essential hospital appointments, like many of my housebound and elderly clients. This the only bus going direct to Gloucester. Kingswood This is the only bus which runs straight through to Gloucester without changing at Dursley and waiting ages for a Kingswood connection in a very cold, draughty bus stop. I travel often to Gloucester using this service. I have no car and so rely on public transport. Wotton-under-Edge Regular appointments at Gloucester Royal Hospital. Wotton-under-Edge The current service used regularly and any reduced change or the necessity to book from Dursley would cause Wotton-under-Edge problems. My solicitor is in Gloucester, it will be difficult to get there and more costly. Wotton-under-Edge To go from one bus per day to zero seems very drastic. Wotton-under-Edge This bus is my only way of getting about, I do not drive and I like to go to Gloucester every week. It's a day out for Wotton-under-Edge me and many more also. We like to shop there. This bus is needed, it's like a lifeline to a lot of us. We get to meet our friends and for some, it's our only day out. Wotton-under-Edge Old people do not like change. Booking not helpful. This is the only straight through connection between Wotton and Gloucester and is vital to so many people. This service is very useful for visiting Gloucester Hospital's Outpatient/Audiology Department regularly. Please develop the route with commercial operators between Bristol Cribbs Causeway, Thornbury, Berkeley and Gloucester. I need to see a specialist at Gloucester Royal Hospital on a regular basis. I do not drive and find this service ideal. Wotton-under-Edge Would be willing to pay for transport to Gloucester. Difficult to make connection with other buses due to disability Kingswood causing reduced mobility. Instead of taking the bus off altogether, would it be possible to run 2 or 3 times per week? We have no car. This is an impossible situation. How do I get to Gloucester Hospital on a regular basis? Wotton-under-Edge Must all travel be essential? Museums, cathedrals, general lifestyle enjoyment and leisure shopping are all Wotton-under-Edge needed. Clothes shopping may not be essential but is necessary with a direct bus service. Wotton-under-Edge The 201 is our only direct bus to Gloucester. We would be willing to pay something towards this. Wotton-under-Edge This is a regular and excellent way of reaching Gloucester for hospital visits, shopping and the cinema. The service Wotton-under-Edge should remain as it is, or change to 3 times per week. There is no other direct way of getting to Gloucester as the 91/91B do not meet up. If all buses to Gloucester, Bristol and Stroud are cut, Wotton will be completely cut off from any town and will be Wotton-under-Edge like an island. I appreciate that some service will have to be cut but compared to Dursley, we do not have a very good service as it is. Why do they always have to be considered so much better than Wotton? I do not drive and I rely on buses for all my transport needs. Wotton-under-Edge Please do not withdraw this bus to Gloucester. I and others would be prepared to pay the fare to save the service. Wotton-under-Edge Please discuss this and let others have their say about my suggestion. Getting to hospital appointments. Wotton-under-Edge This is the ONLY service direct to Gloucester where we can connect with National Express and train services. It also Wotton-under-Edge enables us to access Gloucester Hospital. Could we have a service maybe once or twice a week, instead of every day or nothing? Wotton-under-Edge How are we going to get to hospital appointments? I would have to leave home at 07.30 to go via Dursley. Wotton-under-Edge No other direct service to Gloucester to buy goods (clothes) unobtainable in Wotton. Wotton-under-Edge When Dursley Hospital opens later this year we will need more buses, not less. Cannot get to the railway station Wotton-under-Edge either. What's the use of bus passes if we cannot get out of Wotton, or do not work in Wotton? I need this bus to meet my daughter and grandson in Gloucester and hospital appointments. Wotton-under-Edge Are the powers to be so insensitive to think that people of a certain age just sit at home and vegetate?! Wotton-under-Edge I always travel on this service every Friday as I don't have to change buses. Eastington and Standish This is a lifeline for hospital visits. This service is a link to Gloucester, no other service for Gloucester goes through Vale North Nibley. It would be inconvenient, take much longer and cost a lot more. Wotton's main link to Gloucester daily - direct. Wotton-under-Edge People in Wotton-under-Edge can make mid morning appointments at Gloucester Hospital and return on the 201, Wotton-under-Edge perhaps three days a week would be a good option. Wotton has so few buses and due to the lack of solicitors, reduced bank hours and only one chemist. For a Wotton-under-Edge population 5/6000 there is no sorting office, etc., it is impossible to bring trade to Gloucester City without more, not less, public transport. Less buses mean more, far more, cars on the road if you can afford, or are able to have a car on age grounds. This service needs to be kept at least on Saturdays when it is fully used. Wotton-under-Edge As a non car driver, this service is essential. Willing to pay to keep service open. Wotton-under-Edge As a single mum with 3 child fare paying kids, to pay for a service to Dursley then to Gloucester with changes and Wotton-under-Edge shopping will become too expensive and a complete nightmare. This bus only comes to Synwell on certain days. This enables me to go out shopping and have a break from home. Wotton-under-Edge As I cannot afford to run a car I need this service to attend hospital appointments and shopping. Wotton-under-Edge Need to visit family. Wotton-under-Edge I do not drive and so need public transport to shop for things that small towns cannot provide. I also visit friends. Wotton-under-Edge I live in Thornbury and I travel to Wotton nearly every Friday to see my elderly mother. I am willing to pay more as I consider it too cheap but I wouldn't be able to afford First's fares as they are far too expensive. Service number 201 - Without this service people will find it hard to get to the dentist, optician and shopping in Wotton or Gloucester. The hopper runs twice a week with a window of 3.5 hours. Also, gives us a link to Bristol and Gloucester, rely on this for hospital appointments. We live in an isolated area so if you take this bus off you will be doing us a disservice. Bus passes are great if there is a bus, would be willing to pay.** Service Number 201 - These buses are a lifeline to all who don't drive. The Wotton Hopper takes us to the doctor, Kingswood dentist and chemist as well as general shopping. It comes to the centre of Kingswood, which is a great help when carrying shopping. It's the only bus to Gloucester. Please try and keep the buses running, a bus pass is useless without a bus. Could be a later return a couple of days a week. Wotton-under-Edge This is my only way of attending hospital appointments and getting away from home for a change of scenery. Wotton-under-Edge Unable to walk into Wotton for other buses. Pre booking would limit my flexibility to travel according to my health and the weather. The service is rather Cam East confusing, i.e. numbers/routes changing and arrival/departure points change. Timetables often change without warning. If you have a hospital appointment before 10.30 have to catch the 07.30 bus but can't use your pass. Haven't got a car so rely on buses. Realise money has to be saved. Date advertised for roadshow was wrong.** One or two times a week to include a Saturday. Wotton-under-Edge Living in Wotton under Edge the bus services are very patchy but are in actual fact lifelines for many of the Wotton-under-Edge residents - whether it is for shopping, hospital appointments, work or education or just the opportunity to be able get out of Wotton ( as beautiful as it is) and maybe spend a couple of hours of different scenery to meet up with friends for coffee or lunch. I have always used this bus at least once a fortnight, and especially on Fridays and school holidays it is always full. Many people really rely on this service and to stop it will have a huge depressing impact. Even if the service ran a few times a week would be better than nothing. Please think twice about removing this service. Thank you This service is the only direct connection between Eastington and Gloucester. Then it only runs on Tuesday and Eastington and Standish Friday. I use the bus on a Friday and is usually full there are no other buses running to gloucester from our village Eastington and Standish The 201 Mikes travel is useful to people living in Synwell for several who are unable to walk down to Wotton to Wotton-under-Edge use the main buses and need to go to Gloucester for shopping, hospital visits etc.being able at the moment to board the bus almost outside their door. As a registered partially sighted person who is unable to drive a car, I rely on the bus service from Wotton under Wotton-under-Edge Egde to Gloucester to get to college. I note that you say that it is possible to make the journey by changing at Dursley. The current service takes less than an hour to get from Wotton under Edge to Gloucester. Having looked at timetables for the alternative route you suggest via Dursley Bus Station, if you caught the 7.50am from Wotton, you would arrive at Dursley at 8.21am then have to wait for the 9.20 to Gloucester, arriving at 10.09am a total journey time of 2 hours and 29 minutes. This would not be practical for anyone needing to make that journey. I would be more than happy to pay more to use this bus - to get to care for my mother, it currently costs me 1.30 Wotton-under-Edge for a "Single" ticket and a "Return" is 2.20. This is still far cheaper than using the 311 Service which costs me 3.25 for a "Single". Sometimes I go to Gloucester, and if I'm having to spend 3.25 to get to Dursley plus whatever it would cost to travel on to Gloucester, then back again, I would not be able to afford to travel. Please reconsider removing this service, many people could lose their independence. Service Number 205

What happens when Berkeley Hospital closes? Will there be services to the new hospital in Dursley? Berkeley Will make all journeys more difficult. I have Asthma and I need the bus to get to my doctor appointments. Dursley Run up and down St. George's. Dursley Need to keep service on St. George's Road. It's handy for the dentist and doctor, shopping and other things. Yet again we haven't seen a new proposed timetable. Berkeley As I do not drive, if medical or dental appointments are needed I have no way of getting there. I am on Income Support so Berkeley cannot afford taxis, etc. Cannot pre-book as never know when a medical emergency will occur. We are a family of four. We were promised a bus when the hospital moves to Dursley from Berkeley. Berkeley I collect my daughter's medication from Dursley so would be lost without the bus service. Please don't leave us with no bus. Life Berkeley isn't that good and no bus will make it worse. Better connections with the 311 at Dursley, or at Thornbury for Kingswood, Penwood Lodge could be improved. Berkeley Berkeley and Sharpness are virtually cut off without bus services, unless people have their own transport. Berkeley Doctors, need to meet, carer. Dursley This service us a lifeline to people living on the Norman Hill Estate and St George's Estate. Cam East Vehicles used should be much more user friendly. Berkeley Will be difficult to see opticians/dentist/shop or visit family and friends. Berkeley We need our bus service, otherwise will be completely isolated. The current service is hardly adequate and a Dial A Ride (in my Berkeley opinion) would be worse. We will need access to the new hospital, when this one closes shortly, for health appointments and visiting and also, for dentist and chiropody appointments and for swimming and access to a proper library. The current time in Dursley is just about right. We are left with no hospital, school or library, yet we pay more Council Tax. Berkeley Use the service to visit the doctors at Berkeley and the chemist and dentist at Dursley and also, the new hospital at Dursley. Berkeley OPTION 1:- Until specific details re: connection points, total journey times etc., are made available it is impossible to make a Berkeley judgement about the level of affect to overall travel. OPTION 2:- It could be difficult to make both advance plans and last minute decisions re: appointments, job interviews etc., without being sure that the community transport would definitely be available. These bus routes are already not fit for purpose and reducing or removing them makes a bad situation even worse. More thought should be given to the hub idea with circular routes available. Those of us in Stone, Woodford, Newport and most of the area to the south of Dursley have had to give up any hope of using buses or trains, so we have to use cars. Now they are talking about bringing in charges for parking so the supermarkets win again and local centres will lose their customers. This bus doesn't go to Sharpness, i.e. the early bus or the late bus. Berkeley We could have a bus two or three times a week. Berkeley My mother would not see her daughter and I would not see my sister. Cannot afford to pay for taxis to get to work. Berkeley I use it to get to Castle School, as it is my only form of transport. Without it I will have to be home schooled! Vale It is our only bus service and young people need it, to not only go to school, but also to go to places where they can socialise Vale with their friends. Mike's Travel provides a very good service, which I find invaluable. Pleasant drivers who are always helpful, it would be a sadly missed and very inconvenient were it to cease. I live in Sharpness and I use the bus nearly everyday, it is my lifeline. Berkeley This is the only bus service we have and without it we would not be able to go anywhere. Vale It's fine as it is. It's a brilliant service as it is, if altered we can't say what it will be like as we have not seen a timetable with Berkeley times. Impossible for hospital appointments, etc. I do not drive so how are we going to get to Gloucester from Sharpness? I can't get Berkeley to Cam Station to get a train. Diabolical. Please develop the route with commercial operators between Bristol Cribbs Causeway, Thornbury, Berkeley and Gloucester. Do not drive and have to get to work. Berkeley It needs to fit in with appointment times. Berkeley I am 79 and a carer for my daughter. My day off is usually a trip to Gloucester. Berkeley Go to Gloucester twice a week through ticketing, but have had a bad experience. Berkeley Prefer a direct bus to Gloucester from Berkeley. Berkeley Gloucester Hospital visited for my eyes. I have ticked "same." Local people would settle for everything to at least stay the same. No doubt their input will help you Berkeley consider any improvements or budget considerations. Can but ask. Are there two services to Halmore/Purton? No doubt in the future I may need any services that I can get. It all depends on being able to drive a car around here. Berkeley and Sharpness are virtually cut off without a bus service, unless you have your own transport. For the elderly this is Berkeley most unlikely. At present it is very good. I don't like the idea of having to ring for the bus, will put people off. Would prefer a definite Berkeley timetable. Obviously cannot be better than the present system. The Ring and Ride option does not work. It was tried before and many old people found it too much, they want a timetable so Berkeley that they can just turn up. Please retain this service with a low floor vehicle. To be funded by South Gloucester and Bristol. Vehicles use should be much more user friendly. Berkeley Use the bus every day. It is a lifeline for my needs. Cam West It will be difficult to keep appointments - shop or visit sick friends. Berkeley I use this bus to travel from Gloucester to Berkeley and back once or twice a week. To change buses would create problems and Longlevens delays. The journey would take longer because of diversions to Cam or Dursley and because time would need to be allowed to make connections. If the first bus ran late and connection was missed, there would be a delay of one or two hours waiting for the next bus, meaning appointments would be missed. ** Berkeley Library may close, nearest library is Dursley or out of county Thornbury. Berkeley Local people without cars need to get to Thornbury for shopping, part-time jobs, doctor, physio and outpatient appointments. Vale For young people it is useful for access to Sports Centre. Will cause isolation and we need a direct link to Gloucester without having to change buses. We have no clothes shops and Berkeley need to go for business reasons and also for entertainment. The current time in Thornbury is about right. The Dial A Ride, in my opinion, would be worse. Grandchildren travel to see me in Longlevens. Longlevens Use the service to visit Gloucester Royal Hospital. Berkeley My son currently uses this service daily to get to and from school in Thornbury, it is a good, direct, quick service. I am concerned Vale that option 1 will mean more stops and a longer travelling time. Option 2 is ridiculous for a school bus run and I assume rather costly. There are no other service available, our other alternative is to start using our car which, especially environmentally, is not practical. My child uses this service to travel to and from school everyday. Option 2 is not a viable option to provide transport to and from school. Option 1 does not specify the times for the service and could make the journey or waiting time much longer for my child. There are a number of children using this service to attend school and that number is to increase in September. Hi - my name is Ben and I live in Berkeley. I have been offered a place at Castle School to do my A-Levels. Option 1 on service Berkeley 207 does not make a difference to my plans as I can get to Castle in time for class, and back again later in the day. Option 2 means I cannot go to Castle and my education would be seriously affected. Unfortunately the timescale for the review means that I will not know what the outcome is in time to accept a place at another school - this would affect many other students as well. So i could lose a year of Education. Whilst I understand your need to cost cut. Please not at the cost of a Childs Education. Castle is an excellent School and it would be a tragedy not to go there. OPTION 1:- Until specific details re: connection points, total journey times etc., are made available it is impossible to make a Berkeley judgement about the level of affect to overall travel. OPTION 2:- It could be difficult to make both advance plans and last minute decisions re: appointments, job interviews etc., without being sure that the community transport would definitely be available. Again I feel the tick boxes dont contribute anything as the options are not defined clearly enough. Eg Frequency ! Depending on Berkeley the frquency option 1 could be a good service opening up new oportunities. Option 2 would be unacceptable as most people would not wish to be bothered with booking in advance There is no alternative public transport services run from any other bus stop within a 15 minute or so walk. Berkeley There is no alternative public transport services run from any other bus stop within a 15 minute or so walk. Those of us in Stone, Woodford, Newport and most of the area to the south of Dursley have had to give up any hope of using buses or trains, so we have to use cars. Ring and ride doesn't work. comments reflect the views of a large number of older people who live in Sharpness and attend social activities at Hamfallow Berkeley Court. Many of them use the buses to travel to Berkeley, Gloucester and Thornbury for shopping. None of them was aware of the review or consultation on changes to the buses because nobody felt it necessary to ask these people or others who live in more rural areas which already have few services; the majority of consultations have taken place in the urban areas where people already have access to a wider range of services. Several people also told me they were very concerned about how they would be able to access hospital appointments or to visit friends and relatives when Berkeley Hospital closes and services are transferred to the Littlecombe site in Dursley. There is concern that if they are obliged to use the Phone and Ride services, they may not be able to use their bus passes. Why did it not occur to anyone at GCC to visit day-centres wh ere elderly people meet and to discuss their concerns. People generally in the Berkeley area feel they have been completely sidelined not only in respect to this consultation but also with regard to the closure of the hospital, school, library, police station and youth club? They would like to know whether they will see a reduction in their council tax. Please note that these comments refer also to other bus routes serving the Berkeley area where the concern is that under proposal 1, the journeys will be considerably longer and more arduous. This bus is badly needed as I need to go to the hospital and doctors a lot. Also, the dates given for the roadshow were wrong and people in Dursley missed out. This bus is used by lots of elderly people who would otherwise be housebound. I wouldn't object to paying. Dursley Brilliant, regular service, used by many. Dursley Any cuts to the Whiteway service would mean devastation for many elderly people - me included. How do we get to doctor, Dursley dentist, etc? Please don't do it. This bus is a lifeline to the hospital, doctor, shopping, etc. Dursley No other transport available. Dursley The bus gives a lifeline to our elderly residents in the Whiteway/Woodmancote area. Alternate pick-ups would be better than Dursley nothing! The roadshow's dates for Dursley was incorrect in the press and your flyers. I find this service very good. Dursley We do not have a car and rely on buses for doctor and hospital appointments. Dursley Will not be able to go anywhere, just homebound. Dursley I travel from Stroud to Box Road, Cam, on service 20, continue to Bristol Parkway by rail. If the 210 was withdrawn could the Uplands number 20 be diverted to call at the station? During off peak, the service could be twice hourly, but I need this service for my work during peak times. Dursley Need to get to the doctors and meet my carer and so need to use my bus pass before 09.30. Dursley No other transport. Dursley No other transport. Dursley A two hour gap from the highest point on the route into Dursley is detrimental for local shopping and train connections. Option Dursley 2 - forget it! I represent a large number of elderly, frail or disabled people who live in sheltered housing. These people rely on the bus for Dursley shopping and socialising. It is vital that they have a regular and reliable service. The Dial A Ride would make things harder. Asking them to pay is unacceptable.** Option to replace with Dial A Ride won't work, especially with meeting trains. Too many diversions and waiting for passengers to turn up will cause delays and missing trains. If you have also booked the bus and the train is running late you will be stranded. You could also be turned down if other people have already booked. Doesn't help people who need a medical appointment as have to book in advance. Elderly people use this service. ** Merge the service. Dursley Sheltered housing tenants will be very severely affected if they lose the bus service. Dial A Ride is not an option. Dursley Any changes to this service would be a catastrophe to this area, especially the elderly and young families. Dursley Any changes would be dreadful in this area of Dursley. Dursley First we lost the estate shop, then the sub Post Office and now the buses - a steady isolation of the Whiteway pensioners. If the Dursley buses can reach the bus station from the rail station they can surely go the extra mile to Whiteway. The consultation had virtually no publicity, was held at a time no public transport was available, in a building with difficult access. I need the current service because my daughter uses the nursery at Dursley CofE School. My son has also just started at this Cam West school and I live at Woodfields and I don't driver. I need the bus for school times. Can't imagine life without the 210, so popular here and convenient. Dursley If the bus is late then you miss the train. If the train to Bristol is late the bus has already left. Cam East Needs an hourly service to Whiteway, but to connect with the station's service or Dursley bus station, with improved waiting Dursley facilities and real time information. I use this service on a daily basis to get to work on the train. The 210 service is an essential link to the train station allowing Dursley people to get to work in Gloucester and Bristol as well as providing access to services around Cam & Dursley. It is imperative that this service is retained and not changed to an on demand community transport service, which is completely impractical when using a train service especially for visitors. Option 1 proposal to not service Whiteway on alternative journeys is a sensible one which should improve reliability and minimise the number of times the bus misses the train connection. Along with the service to Gloucester(12) & Stroud (40), the 210 is the most important bus service in the area. What point is there of encouraging people to use public transport when they cannot access it as you have removed the bus service to the train station. Its not as though Cam & Dursley station is within walking distance of the town. The 210 service is a very valuable asset for Dursley people (especially the elderly)who do not have the ability to travel by car to Dursley catch the improving train service. The minimum acceptable service is a regular service from the centre of Dursley. Option 2 is not practicable for people people in employment who want to travel early in the morning and coming home in the evening The peak time 210 should simply be a shuttle between Dursley Bus station and the train station. It is pointless going through Dursley the Quarry at peak times - leave that for the daytime services for older people to use. This will make the shuttle more punctual and allow for a longer wait in the evening as the Bristol/Glos train is almost always late. This will enable more people to have the trust to get the bus to the station thereby alleviating the fact that the car park is now full after 09:00 The 210 bus does not run every hour as you state. Note the 9.24 10.34 and 12.34 We were originaly told our BUS Pass cold be Dursley used after 9.00am now it is 9.30 if the bus runs every hour. Option 1, problem with that is journeys starting Dursley bus station could still miss train connections during road works as could the services still running to Whiteway. Option 2, cant see how ring & ride could work when train connections are involved, too many pick up points at varying times could make the bus miss train connection. Likewise trains arriving late discharging bus passengers who had prebooked their bus would cause late running of bus or strand passengers 1 is the most viable and I would be happy to pay more for the service. I have used the service for 15 years and have noted that Dursley it provides an invaluable service to all members of the community (from commuters to OAPs). It meets the train for commuters getting to and from work and allows others to get to & from the shops, school or hospital appointments in Gloucester. For information it is an hours walk to/from Dursley to Cam/Dursley station. Not much fun in inclement weather or during the Winter when it is dark. I use the service mon-fri (7am and between 4.15-6pm) to get to work in Bristol and regularly to go shopping in either Gloucester or Bristol. I cannot see how a community type service can fascilitate all the varied needs provided by the 210 service which is excellent. Can such a service be available between 6-7am to get to the station; how will it work when someone needs to get a train to/from work whilst someone wants to go shopping or visit a friend? O nly a reliable timetables service can do this. Other services in the past have been used i.e. First Choice but these have been poor substitutes and unreliable. First Choice usually don't wait or just don't turn up. It is an inconvenience to the larger bus companies. I rely on the bus service in the morning (usually 7:15am) to take me to the railway station to catch the train to work and in the Cam West evening (at 6:15) to get me home again. It is possible to walk but this adds an extra hour to my already long working day. To be honest I think a service that runs from Dursley centre to the railway station is essential, but it need not divert from a fairly direct route, i.e. it should stick to the A4135 only. The town of Dursley and Cam are small enough to make this a fairly easy road to get to. Service Number 211

Live in Dursley but commute to Bristol for work, I can't afford to retire. First Bus has an early bus, doesn't arrive in time Dursley for me to start work at 9 1a.m. Fares on this are prohibitive. The last bus to Dursley is at 16.20, I finish at 17.00. Could take the train, but fares expensive. Also, very unreliable. Shuttle bus also unreliable and doesn't meet all the trains at Cam. If I miss it would have to get a taxi. I don't have a car. ** Booking in advance takes the spontaneity out of life. I can just see huge frustration trying to book by phone, Wotton-under-Edge particularly if you don't have a computer as I don't! There would be long waiting times, no replies and would be forever holding on the line. This worries the elderly. Our only service to get commuters into Bristol for 9 a.m. Essential service for young people who are starting Vale employment and for elderly to get to appointments. I work for the United Healthcare Bristol Trust and I will be unable to attend work if the service is withdrawn. I provide Berkeley support for all paediatric patients who have gastro problems in the South West. I would be happy to increase the cost of the fare if we can keep the service. If this service was withdrawn, my travel would be affected far more than worse. It would have a serious affect on the Berkeley time and cost that it would take for me to get to work and back. I would be prepared to make allowance for the cost of this service to go up, rather than lose it. This is a popular and necessary service. Option 1 to withdraw the service and provide a service into Cam and Dursley Station is of no use, when you live in Dursley Dursley and work in Berkeley. Option 2 to replace the service with a flexible transport service and booking trips in advance is not an option. The service is used to commute to and from work on a daily basis at the same time every day and having to book trips in advance will be time consuming. Extend services 20, 12 and 91 to Cam and Dursley Station en route to and from Stroud. This will add about 10 minutes Dursley to each journey but serve the railway station at the same time. Service is essential to all of us who use it to get to work. Changing or withdrawing should not be an option.** I am appalled to hear that the 224 bus service from Dursley to Bristol is going to be cut. This is my only means of travel Dursley to work and there are no suitable alternative which will meet my needs in service and cost. Many people rely upon this service to commute to work and i am very disappointed to learn that the service is going to be stopped. I must express a grave dissatisfaction on behalf of Gloucestershire County Council and would request that the urgently re-think their approach to this service and ensure that it will continue. Alternatively, i stand to loose employment and the ability to get into work in the morning and home in the evening ... I use service 224 to commute to work in Bristol every day. Withdrawal of this service would have a devastating impact Dursley on my travel needs. The only option available to me if 224 is withdrawn is to catch a bus from Dursley to Cam & Dursley station to catch a train into Bristol. First great Western prices and more than double what I pay to travel by bus. Furthermore the trains and invariably late with the consequence that the Cam & Dursley rail link bus has already left the station before the trains from Bristol arrive. This means a 3.5 miles walk from the station back to dursley as the timetables o other buses travelling through Can to Dursley do not coincide particularly in the late afternoon/early evening. On the over 30 occasions I have caught a train from Bristol to Cam & Dursley, I have only managed to catch the rail link bus 4 times. I catch the 224 service to Bristol daily. I work for University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust. The Trust has Berkeley removed all car parking for staff who do not work late shifts. They say that we must travel by public transport. If you remove this service I will be unable to get to my place of employ. This is the only commuter bus service to Bristol. We are trying to be green and reduce carbon emissions by using public transport. This service MUST remain. We have lost our library and police service in this area, to lose our much utilised public transport system would mean some people unable to get to work. cannot believe you are considering withdrawing this service, I'm worried sick that if I can't get to work, I may lose my Berkeley job. I feel strongly that it is your duty to provide at least one service for the people that have to work in Bristol, so why withdraw this one? You advertise this service as being designed for Bristol commuters, and those are the very people that rely on it. It is an essential service, not a luxury. You mention giving priority to 'essential needs'- being able to get to work to earn a living should be at the very top. What about the students that rely on this service to attend College? Again this should be a top priority. I cannot drive, so this would not be an option for me, and for those that can, it would be impossible to secure a parking space in Bristol. Option 1: this is not feasible due to the time and expense. Currently the service takes approx 40mins from Berkeley to Bristol & costs under 25 per week. Option 1 would take 1.30 - 2hrs t ly on this service) will be at work. Regards, Heather Owens, E-mail address: [email protected] Having a job in Bristol, I rely on this bus service as I have no other means of getting to work. Surely this service (which is Cam East only 1 return journey a day) is an essential one for people with employment and for students who also use this service for filton college. This service has a high priority need for local people in this area. Having read through your proposals involving the train, I would comment that the prices would be far to expensive and as for commuting time, this would be totally impractical. I hope that my comments will be taken into serious consideration, thank you. use the 224 to travel from Dursley, the Carpenters arms stop, to the centre of Bristol, Colston Ave, to get to my full time Dursley job. Currently this service provides my only means of getting there in both a reasonable time (as I have a 20 min walk from Colston Ave to my office), reasonable cost and reliability (not having to link up different transport buses/ trains). I can't afford to run a car into Bristol everyday so am reliant on public transport. As a working mum to a 3 year old child I am extremely concerned that option 1 would give me such a long journey everyday that I would not get to see my child at all. I am also extremely concerned that option 1 would not allow me enough time during the day to complete a full days work and could potentially put my employment in jeopardy. I have looked at option 1 and found the current timetable for the 311 bus. Currently this bus takes 2 hours to get from the Dursley bus station to Bristol, and then 2 hours back again. This would 224 service that is run as a commuter service to provide for people to reach their employment, is being placed alongside other bus services by the Council. At the beginning of the review the Council states that travelling to work is an essential need, however, it seems that the Council does not consider it essential when there is some form of subsidy involved. The commuter service supplies a vital link that is direct to the part of Bristol in which I work. The timing is right for Cam East getting to and from work. My employer, the NHS, discourages private cars on the hospital site and parking in the city is expensive. The train option is expensive and inconvenient. Trains are already crowded between Yate and Bristol, and Temple Meads is another 20 minutes walk from my final destination. 224 bus is a vital commuter service that would leave many people unable to travel to work/college if it is taken away. I Berkeley regularly take the bus from Berkeley to Bristol and have done so for the last 7 years. There is no alternative transport to Bristol. The proposed changes will simply not be appropriate given the extra time and cost required. I believe the service could be made much more cost efficient with the following changes: - increased publicity by the council to publicise the service (there is obviously a need as the train from Dursley costs over twice as much and is often overcrowded) - changing/enforcing standards with the current bus company (Eurotaxis) to ensure fares are accurately taken (there have been countless problems with drivers as there is no ticket machine) and passenger statistics reflective of reality - downsizing the bus to a smaller bus or minibus to reduce running costs - increasing the fare by a couple of pounds The other point I wou ld raise is that is is ridiculous and poorly planned (or is it?) to hold a public consultation service for a commuter bus service on a Tuesday during the day. This doesn't fill me with much hope that you will get a representative view in order to make any kind of sensible decision. Perhaps you should consider travelling on the bus and interviewing people that way? service is essential for the Berkeley community. It serves not only my needs as a commuter to and from Bristol but gives Berkeley the local students an option to get to Filton College without having to travel 6 miles North to come approx 24 miles South. I also know that one of the passengers cares for her elderly mother and needs to be able to get to Bristol quickly and cheaply. I understand that our needs are selfish and if this service is withdrawn, I can provide a car-share service but it still leaves a lot of individuals stranded without the means to afford train travel or the time to make several stops on the way to work. The Community Travel scheme would be a help but you need to make it plainer what it involves. Can we book it as a community to provide the same service as now? What would the cost be? An ad-hoc service is no good to anyone. Is there scope to increase the fares on the current service? I know that you don't charge us enough, £4.50 worth of fuel i n my vehicle would only take me one way hence I use the bus. However, an increase of £1.50 per passenger would be acceptable to most. You can also consider removing the free bus travel for over 60s because these individuals are actually going to work. Maybe we could have a smaller vehicle, a people carrier for each town would suffice. Leaving Berkeley without a direct service to Bristol would have a detrimental effect on us, please look at all options before taking it away. Stopping the bus will cause big problems to myself and the majority of the people who get the bus. Any other option Berkeley will make an already long day a lot longer and the cost if we have to get the train will be trebled, if the train is late coming home and the bus doesn't wait for it Berkeley people will be stuck. Almost everyone who gets the bus on a regular basis are either going to work or college. I would also like to say that holding the roadshow in Berkeley during the day instead of the evening doesn't give the people who actually use the bus an opportunity to go as we will be at work, we can't all get to Dursley of an evening, there's no buses. There hasn't been any questionaires handed out on the 224 service. This is a service that is well used and valued by commuters to Bristol from Dursley and Berkeley. It supports both Cam West workers on their daily commute and students on their way to Filton college. In September many students use the service until such time as alternate transport is available to them. Several of the users have no other means of transport. I have been a daily user for almost 5 years and greatly value the service. In all that time I have never seen any attempt to publicise it and the only way train users find out is by word of mouth. We have several regular ex train users who found out and now use the bus in preference to the train. Several regular users have OAP bus passes. Disappointing only to hear about this through word of mouth on the bus. Alternatives will be more costly and time- Dursley consuming for all involved and will lead to greater environmental impact due to people needing to drive or get taxis more. I am writing to express my dismay that the Dursley to Bristol Bus (224) is likely to be withdrawn, as part of the county- Dursley wide bus review. This service is invaluable and provides a fast, reliable and reasonably priced way for those of us who live in Dursley and Cam to get to our jobs in Berkeley and Bristol. Many of the regular riders on this bus do not have cars and are dependent on this bus to get to their places of employment. Yes, there is a train from Cam and Dursley to Bristol. But the train costs more than twice the cost of the bus (4.80 return v. 10.70 return). The bus also has the advantage of picking up and dropping off in Dursley town centre and Bristol city centre, unlike the train stations, which are further away. Yes, there is the 311 bus, but a quick look at the scheduled route for that bus shows that it takes TWO HOURS to get from Dursley to Bristol; route 224 take an hour or less. This is a huge difference. Please think more broadly about this review. You say that busses to help people stay in employment are a prioritythis bus is almost solely used by people who work in Berkeley or Bristol. Most of my fellow passengers would be willing to pay more in order to save this service, so it would be helpful to know that that option is being discussed, as opposed to simple cancellation of a valuable service. Service 224 provides an invaluable and practical method of travelling to and from Bristol from Dursley. It is a reliable Dursley service (far more so than the train services that are one of the proposed alternatives) and is much better value than travelling by train. It also has the significant benefit of connecting the centre of Dursley to the centre of Bristol, rather than the outskirts of Coaley (3 miles from the centre) to Temple Meads station (which isn't that central in Bristol either). Travelling by train takes longer (to get to the centre) is much more likely to incur delays (either from delayed trains or from missed connections at either end) and is much more expensive. It would be a great shame for Dursley if this essential service were withdrawn. I was unable to complete the tick box as the option is too unspecific. If an hourly or even two hourly service were Berkeley provided to Cam station then this option would be better for everyone. If the service to Cam station was spasmodic then benefits would be questionable. Option 2 would be taken up by a very small number of people and would be of no benefit to the public at large Option 1 to withdraw the service and provide a service into Cam & Dursley Station is of no use, when you live in Dursley Dursley and work in Berkeley. Option 2 to replace the service with a flexible transport service and booking trips in advance is not an option. The service is used to commute to and from work on a daily basis, at the same time every day and having to book trips in advance will be too time-consuming. use service 224 to commute to work in Bristol everyday. Having attended the local meeting at Dursley Town Hall last Dursley night I have to say that I am not convinced that any of the proposed alternatives for this route are viable. A number of times Alan said he would put n a bus which wold get us to Cam and Dursley station to catch a train into Bristol. He did not seen to comprehend that the problem is not getting to the station it is returning from the station in the evening when the trains are inevitably late and the station bus has already gone. This would leave me with a 3.5 mile walk home. This would also mean catching 2 buses an a train instead of 1 bus. My weekly commuting cost would increase from £24/week to £68.50 and it will take me longer (1.5hours) to get to work. Not the 45 mins that the council say. If they are prioritising routes which allow people to commute to work and educational facilities as the council claim then this route should not be under th passengers using this service. He claimed they get that information from surveys and from the service providers. In two years I have only seen a survey carried out once and they only asked people who boarded in Cam, Dursley and Berkely. They then disembarked so did not speak to passengers who boarded at Newport and Stone. Alan said he knew of 1 passenger who uses a concession pass regularly on this service. We know of at least 3 who use this service for commuting, maybe not every day, but his facts were incorrect. Eurotaxis do not keep accurate records of the number of passengers using the service. Many drivers do not give out tickets and Eurotaxis themselves have told us that some drivers are suspected of pocketing some of the ticket money. GCC must address this with Eurotaxis and insist on accurate information about passenger numbers before guessing how much each journey is subsidised and subsequently making decision based on inaccurate information. The bus journey from Saul to Stonehouse or Stroud is a pleasant and happy experience. Perhaps we can pay for this service? Severn At this time we have one bus a week, this is a Friday morning returning at 12.30. It is proving very popular so to withdraw this bus will cause many problems. The scheme to book a seat was tried some years ago and again, problems were encountered. the service is only once a week-how can it be cut anymore! Stonehouse Service Number 281

I have used a "ring and ride" service in the past and found it to be unreliable. I would prefer to keep the 3 day a week bus Coaley and Uley timetable. The bus is a lifeline to me. Coaley and Uley Flexible transport services, or "Ring and Ride" are no substitute for the reliability of a properly scheduled service, especially Coaley and Uley for the elderly people who have not got personal transport, i.e their own car. Most of my hospital appointments are on a Monday and Wednesday. The present timetable links well with the Gloucester Cam East and Stroud buses. Not a practical option for elderly people who are unable to drive. We are dependent on the buses. Coaley and Uley We would like the bus to stay the same on Saturdays, we like to swim and go to the hairdressers. Coaley and Uley The Saturday bus is important to me as I take my children swimming. Coaley and Uley This service connects (Mikes Travel) from Thornbury from Cam to Gloucester and 12.45 from Gloucester back to pick up 281 Coaley and Uley from Dursley and Coaley at 1.30 p.m., the only way to Gloucester for us, for appointments. If Option 1 meant that we have to pay for a bus service I wouldn't be happy as I have a bus pass and am on Pension Cam East Credit. However, would rather pay than no service at all. Unable to go to the daytime roadshow as wasn't advertised in the local Gazette. Only found out when I received this form. Local bus services aren't advertised enough, few people seem to know about them. The 281 used by OAPs to get to the GP, shops. Taxis expensive. ** We need a better bus service in the Highlands area. The 16.15 from Stroud to Uley is usually a few minutes late. In view of Dursley the hospital opening in Dursley, we will need a bus from Uley. You give to us with one hand and take away with the other. The 281 is an essential connection for travel from Dursley to Gloucester. The pre book Ring and Ride would be worse. Coaley and Uley The 281 service is essential for access to Gloucester via Dursley. Coaley and Uley We really need a regular bus to the railway station. Coaley and Uley The 281 service connects to the service to Gloucester at Dursley. Coaley and Uley The only other bus we have is the stagecoach No 20 bus at 7.30am and 9.15 to Stroud which is hardly convenient for Dursley Penioners. The return buses are late afternoon! We seem particulary underserved at the Highfields end of Dursley, whilst the opposite end have the benefit of Gloucester, Stroud (every hour) and Bristol buses. Service Number 288

No car and use the bus all the time. This bus route is a lifeline for the elderly who cannot drive, or are unable to drive through disability. The County Wotton-under-Edge Council's cutbacks should not affect the most vulnerable in the community. This service is essential. Flexi travel will not provide the service required. Kingswood Vital bus service, stranded without. Wotton-under-Edge Sheltered accommodation, Dryleaze Court. Needs to be on a Friday like it always used to be. Wrong date listed in the Wotton-under-Edge paper and on internet. As a Christian, I would ask that you consider carefully how the most vulnerable are treated. As scriptures show clearly Wotton-under-Edge that God has a bias for the poor. This bus stops reasonably near my home. I find walking too far and carrying heavy shopping quite difficult. Kingswood Better to have transport on Friday instead of Thursday. Wotton-under-Edge No alternative transport for people without cars. Wotton-under-Edge Depended on by many elderly folk. Booking in advance is not a good idea. It means that I cannot make commitments without first checking on the bus seat. To co-ordinate both would be Wotton-under-Edge stressful and may not be successful. The need to see a doctor, would perhaps be delayed as have to always pre-book appointments. I am appalled at what is likely to happen. Do not drive and there is no other bus service around the area. Wotton-under-Edge We have no other means of getting to and from Wotton Under Edge. Please consider the elderly and disabled. Wotton-under-Edge An essential service for several friends who live in Wotton. Wotton-under-Edge Many members of the Jubilee Club and local pensioners will be losing a vital lifeline. Kingswood Route 288 which incorporates the Wotton Hopper is of great value to those without transport, especially the elderly in the outlying areas. The aim is to bring people into the very centre of the town, doctors' appointments and so on. The service reaches areas which do not have any other buses. The Hopper has a designated bus stop in the centre of town (other buses are not allowed up the main street). ** The elderly rely on this service to collect their pensions, pay bills and purchase their food. Wotton-under-Edge Being elderly I find the convenience if pick up points/drop off a necessity being physically less able. A real blessing. Kingswood This would affect my quality of life, going out is what keeps me going. Please don't cut this service off. This is the only service for those in the outlying areas or Wotton and needs to be kept as it is. Wotton-under-Edge As a disabled person who has no car available, I need this service to do my shopping, doctor, dentist and optician Wotton-under-Edge appointments. This service enables me to take my disabled sister into Wotton to shop, attend health appointments and meet friends. Wotton-under-Edge Need to visit family. Wotton-under-Edge This service should be provided more than twice a week. As a lady of senior years getting to the High Street for money Wotton-under-Edge and shopping, etc., would be difficult. I struggle as it is. This service is essential to keep Wotton shops alive. Pensioners and the less abled need to get down into town. Wotton-under-Edge This service is essential for older and disabled people who have no other means of getting to the shops and are unable Wotton-under-Edge to carry heavy shopping home. Without the bus from Dursley to Bristol I wouldn't be able to catch the coach to London. My sons live in Surrey and Wotton-under-Edge Kent and so I would never see them. Wotton-under-Edge If all buses to Gloucester, Bristol and Stroud are cut, Wotton will be completely cut off from any town and will be like an Wotton-under-Edge island. I appreciate that some service will have to be cut but compared to Dursley, we do not have a very good service as it is. Why do they always have to be considered so much better than Wotton? Currently, the last bus from Bristol is 4.20 p.m. no good for anyone working until 5.00 p.m. Why was the 5.20 last bus Kingswood curtailed at Thornbury? Visiting mother in Henlow Court, not a car driver. Wotton-under-Edge As no other option, again, this is dreadful. Dursley Visiting mother-in-law in Henlow Care Home - non car driver. Willing to pay to keep service open. Wotton-under-Edge Service number 311 - Without this service people will find it hard to get to the dentist, optician and shopping in Wotton or Gloucester. The hopper runs twice a week with a window of 3.5 hours. Also, gives us a link to Bristol and Gloucester, rely on this for hospital appointments. We live in an isolated area so if you take this bus off you will be doing us a disservice. Bus passes are great if there is a bus, would be willing to pay.** Service Number 311 - These buses are a lifeline to all who don't drive. The Wotton Hopper takes us to the doctor, Kingswood dentist and chemist as well as general shopping. It comes to the centre of Kingswood, which is a great help when carrying shopping. Enables us to visit Thornbury Health Centre and Cribbs Causeway and onto Bristol. If we can't get this bus hospital transport used which is expensive. Please keep the bus a bus pass no use if no bus. I hope the 311 continues to operate as it does at present but I am dismayed that the last bus from Bristol 17.10 has Wotton-under-Edge been withdrawn.I use this route frequently for hospital visits and sometimes it is difficult to arrange appointments to fit in with the last bus at 16.20.As an elderly person I have a horror of being stranded in Bristol.I hope too that the stop at Cribbs Causeway will continue. I have commented before on how little we can use our bus passes living in the areas outside Gloucester, sometimes I wish we didn't have them and could have decent transport links and pay the fares instead. I use the 311 to visit my very ill sister in bristol and to meet friends and please work out how much a taxi would charge Wotton-under-Edge a mile and you will find the bus route would be cheaper Links to the trains at Cam and Dursley are important so I am pleased you are retaining this service, please try and get Wotton-under-Edge the bus times to integrate with the train times.
