Commodore’s Corner – Neal LeBlanc (734) 767-9611 [email protected] The weather has definitely made the transition from warm to consistently cooler temperatures and fall is here to stay. The yard crew did another fantastic job this season hauling out boats and getting them set for the months ahead. Unfortunately, many EMBC events have had to be canceled or postponed due to ongoing health risks related to social distancing challenges but we are learning how to live with it. Kim and I had a busy month attending several functions held at other clubs, which were typically limited to a minimal number of attendees. Earlier in the month we were invited to Cooley Canals Cocktail Party, which held at their club. The following week we were guests at Bay View Yacht Club’s Ball. The weekend of the 16th we had a double header and attended Seaway Boat Clubs Ball on Friday night followed by River Views Ball on Saturday. Next, we were honored to be at GIYC’s Cocktail Party, which was titled as “Not-a-Ball” and held outside under the tent overlooking the river. After their shindig was over the 20’s class wanted to stop by Elba-Mar, and we had a fantastic time. I want to thank the bar staff for doing a wonderful job taking care of everyone. There were also several Elba-Mar members who came in dressed as witches having just participated in the Grosse Ile Halloween Parade and happened to stop by the club after. Our group got a kick out of seeing them and it put everyone in a ghoulish, Halloween spirit. We ended the month with a Halloween party at Nugent Canal Yacht Club and are looking forward to November. It has truly been a unique and extraordinary year and both Kim and I thank you for your support. I want to wish all our members a joyful, healthy, and safe Thanksgiving Holiday.

Vice Commodore – Chris Purcell 734-624-3496 [email protected] I would like to thank all our members and employees for helping us through these difficult times. Please continue to adhere to the current rules that have been put in place by direction of Health and Human Services. This month, we are starting to do more Fund Raising in preparation for the 2021 EMBC Commodore’s Ball which will be February 6th. Please check your emails and text for any updates that may be coming. The first event we have scheduled is the annual “Spaghetti Dinner” on Tuesday November 10th. Dinner will be served between 4:30 PM and 8:00 PM. We are going to be limited on seating so please don’t wait too long to get your tickets! Tickets are $10 and are available online or behind the Bar. I will continue to send out the online link until all tickets are sold (approximately 100). We are also trying to plan another limited seating event for later this month or in December, email and text notifications will be sent out with more details soon. Lady Jill and I look forward to seeing all of you again soon!

Rear Commodore – Greg Pogorzelski, 734-309-698-6734 [email protected] Last month in my monthly letter to you, I mentioned things we need to focus on together were wearing our masks as required and wiping down tables after we use them. I just would like to pass along my appreciation to you for taken the initiative on these focused items that certainly helps our club get through this COVID-19 thing together. The feedback has been favorable and it is because of your individual efforts. – Thank you. We are closing out another year here and I would like take this moment and thank Commodore Neal LeBlanc and Lady Kim for the time and effort they have taken representing our club. You have represented our club with class and it is extremely pleasing when visiting other clubs or with just friends that they share similar views. – Thank you. What do we need to focus on this month? Down-boards. Down-boards must be removed by November 15th. If not then, there will be a $25.00 fee per down-board if club removes them for you. Sincerely, Rear Commodore Greg Pogorzelski
