ABOARD THE STEAM TRAIN ALONG THE RAILWAY AND A VISIT TO THE PARK OF PEACE ON SABOTIN

1. DAY EXCURSION

The steam train will start its journey from the railway station at 8:53 and pass and Bohinj on its way towards the train station Most na Soči or Kanal, where we exit the train. For railway enthusiats this 108 years old railway will undoubtedly be an unforgettable experience. The view of Lake Bled, crossing and passing numerous gorges, riding through many tunnels, the longest of which measures 6.327m (3.93 miles), will absolutely not leave you indifferent. Make sure your cameras are at hand! On the train we will be accompanied by tour guides and staff who will provide information about the train, the Bohinj railway itself and the regions we will be driving through. There will also be a restaurant car where drinks and small snacks will be served.

At the railway station in Kanal we will get off the train and continue our way by buses. Accompanied by tour guides we will drive to Sabotin, to the slopes where there were 22 nations involved in the battles of the Isonzo front. In today's Park of Peace we will see the museum and caverns while we will listen to the tour guide telling us pleasant, romantic and also sad stories that were written on the mountain, which is geographically also known as the last alpine and the first mediteranian hill. After the tour we will have lunch in a restaurant and then head out to the nearby ossuary in Oslavje, , where we will see a monument dedicated to the fallen italian soldiers in . From the monument, large cylindrical building, there is a wonderful view on the valley and on Sabotin. On the way to the train station in we will see with its numerous palaces, parks and a castle in which the gunpowder was stored in World War I. Gorizia was badly damaged in heavy bombardment.

From Nova Gorica we will ride by the Isonzo valley back to Bled (18: 58) and Jesenice (19.37) with the steam beauty.
