Day 02 Over the Semmering to Ljubljana (B & L) Your train departs in the morning from the main station of Vienna. Breakfast and lunch will be served in the cosy restaurant car. An extraordinary railway adventure awaits you today: the Semmering Railway – the first mountain railway in Europe with standard gauge, part of the UNESCO World Heritage since 1998. Semmering Railway Upon your arrival into Slovenia’s capital Ljubljana, a guided city tour will show you the historical centre where you find a mix of baroque and Art Nouveau architecture. You will also visit the Railway Museum. A bus transfer will bring you to Bled where you will spend the night in a hotel perfectly located at the shores of Lake Bled. Day 03 Bled and the national park of Triglav (B & L) The day starts with a city tour in Bled, said to be one of the most romantic places in the Alps. Enjoy a Plenta Boat Ride, which will bring you to the small island of Bled where you will visit the Assumption of Mary Pilgrimage Church. In the close by city of Radovljica you will find Triglav National Park lovely Renaissance houses and a Beekeeping Museum. Finally, you will discover Triglav National Park and Lake Bohinj in the Julian Alps before returning to Bled. Overnight: Hotel Grand Hotel Toplice (or similar) meals included: breakfast & lunch. 5-Dec-16 Page 2 Day 04 Bohinj Railway and Triest (B & L) Your train takes you southbound, passing the Julian Alps and following the rivers Save and Radovna. On the so called Bohinj Railway you will cross Solkan Bridge; the longest stone bridge among train bridges in the world made of stone blocks. After lunch on board you will arrive in Sezana. A short bus ride will bring you to Triest. A guided city tour will show you the main sights of the city. Overnight: Hotel Savoia Excelsior Palace (or Solkan Bridge similar) meals included: breakfast & lunch. Day 05 Postojna Cave (B, L & D) After approx. one hour bus ride, arrive in Postojna and visit the famous Postojna Cave. By foot and with a small train you will get about two kilometers inside the cave where you will find a huge concert hall that used to host more than ten thousand people. Back at the station of Postojna you will embark on your private train for the last part of the tour. Enjoy lunch onboard while travelling in the direction of Croatia, the train stops at Ogulin. A short bus ride Postojna Cave brings to you Plitvice Lake National Park. Overnight: Hotel Plitvicha Jezera (or similar) meals included: breakfast, lunch & dinner. Day 06 Plitvice Lake National Park and Zadar (B & D) Discover the Plitvice Lake National Park also part of the UNESCO World Heritage. Depending on your preferences you can explore the lakes by boat or promenade along the wooden paths. Afternoon bus transfer to Zadar. Discover the old town during a guided city tour. Overnight: Hotel Crvena Luka (or similar) meals included: breakfast & dinner. Plitvice Lake National Park 5-Dec-16 Page 3 Day 07 Kornati Islands (B, L & D) An excursion by boat will lead you through this beautiful archipelago with its 150 small and large islands. Welcome to the densest archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea, famous for the species rich fauna and flora. Explore the Kornati Islands and enjoy this amazing place. Day 08 Sibenik, Trogir and Split – treasures of the Middle Ages (B & D) Along the Dalmatian Coast you will drive by bus in the direction of Split. You will stop at two lovely cities with a well preserved medieval old town; Šibenik and Trogir. Overnight: Hotel Cornaro (or similar) meals included: breakfast & dinner. Day 09 Split (B) During a city tour you will visit Diocletian’s Palace, a wonderful example of Roman architecture. Afternoon airport transfer.
