AIRPORT OPERATIONS OPS SWAP FORUM 2018 PROGRAM 23–24 May 2018 www.airports.asn.au MESSAGE FROM THE CEO Welcome to the 2018 Airport Operations OPS SWAP Forum. OPS SWAP forms part of the commitment the AAA has to provide the aviation industry with comprehensive technical training and research updates and returns after a successful event in 2016. The OPS SWAP Forum program will discuss technical issues, new technologies and challenges that airports face on a day-to-day basis including airfield regulation and safety through a variety of case studies based on airport operations and projects. I encourage you to take the opportunity to participate in the Airport Trivia dinner on Wednesday evening. Thank you to Simon Hatfield for hosting and preparing the trivia questions on national and international aviation trivia. It should be a great night. I would like to acknowledge the partners and thank them for their ongoing support of the aviation industry and in assisting the AAA to host industry events. I look forward to the opportunity to catch up with you during OPS SWAP. Technology is now implemented and integrated across multi-organisational borders at the airport. The clear trend is that highly complex integration projects tend to outgrow specification limits, creating significant challenges to provide their intended, and much needed, operational benefits. It is now time for a paradigm shift, and to bring the operational design and implementation to the forefront to let technology support operations, and not the other way around. 1030 - 1130 Morning Tea 3 AIRPORT OPERATIONS OPS SWAP FORUM 2018 23–24 May 2018 Airport Operations 1130 - 1200 Airside Operations Management Using Real Time Intelligence Peter Dunlop Airside Operations Manager Brisbane Airport Brisbane Airside Operations, in partnership with AeroAscent, has introduced an innovative world first mobile app designed to raise Airport Safety, Compliance, Real Time Intelligence, Enablement, Engagement and Efficiency WEDNESDAY 1200 - 1245 Hot Topics in Airport Operations Chair: Simon Bourke Policy Director AAA Stephen Goodwin DAY 1 DAY General Manager - Operations Brisbane Airport Matt Cocker Executive General Manager - Operations and Corporate Affairs Hobart Airport Katie Cooper Head of Aviation Operations Melbourne Airport 1245 - 1330 Lunch Airport Operations 1330 - 1400 Part 139 Project Update Darren Angelo Acting Manager Aerodrome Regulation CASA » CASA update » PIR Part 139 update » Aerodromes update 1400 - 1430 Integrated Airfield Teams Collaborating for Project Success Matthew Bender Manager, Operations and Standards Gold Coast Airport Jared Feehely Operations Supervisor Gold Coast Airport » The Tasks at Hand - Brief Overview of Concurrent Capital Projects at GCA 2017/18 » Team and Relationship Building - Integrating Personnel and Achieving Assurance » Challenges and Victories - Lessons Learnt 4 23–24 May 2018 Wednesday 23 & Thursday 24 May Brisbane Airport Conference Centre 1430 - 1500 Optimising Airside Operations at a non RPT Airport Barrie Rogers Airport Manager Parafield Airport Apron Management for Flight Training Organisations » Concepts to maximise Apron Usage for High Volume Users » Scheduled Apron Movements Paperless Aerodrome Reporting » The Benefits of Tablet/Laptop Based Aerodrome Reporting WEDNESDAY » Operating System Add-Ons 1500 - 1530 Afternoon Tea Wildlife Hazard Management 1530 - 1600 Managing Wildlife During the Design and Construction of Brisbane New Parallel 1 DAY Runway Jackson Ring Wildlife Coordinator Brisbane Airport » Wildlife hazard considerations during runway design and construction » Offsite management and engagement » Preparing airside operations personnel 1600 - 1630 Technology and the Management of Wildlife Hazards Mike Clancy Airside Operations Manager Northern Territory Airports (Darwin International Airport) Davy Maddick-Semal Manager Operations Northern Territory Airports (Alice Springs Airport) » Overview / Case Studies of Wildlife Hazard Management (and issues) at Darwin and Alice Springs » Technology that has been used or trialled and the outcomes » Future plans 5 AIRPORT OPERATIONS OPS SWAP FORUM 2018 23–24 May 2018 1630 - 1700 The Changing Landscape around Airports and its Impact on Wildlife Strike Risk Will Jamieson Regional Manager, Principal Biologist, Project Manager Vancouver Avisure Historically, over 90% of reported wildlife strikes have occurred on or in close vicinity to airports.
