Looking further back, Turner has taught me to minimize detail without losing it completely. I work in acrylic paint on canvas or oil pastels on card. I appreciate and value 6 the texture of the base and often add even more textures. In my abstract expressions of reality I rely more on unconscious suggestions and intuition than on any concrete notions. I firmly believe that anyone can see and understand beauty. Ten years after its foundation, Archivo Gráfico is not only a con- General View with the works of the artists from Archivo Grafico solidated workshop, but it has reached precedents in this coun- try as a Workshop specialized in the technique of Monotipia, the 10 most fleeting and direct of the graphic techniques due to its fast reproduction, both in the creative process as well as in its impres- sion. A single print gives no pos- sibility for changes or hesitation; it is the most authentic and sincere expression between the idea in the artist’s mind and the imprint SPECIAL PRESENTATION SPECIAL on paper. A clean and transparent correlation, almost untouchable, conception and execution: there lies the magic of monotype. Felipe Cortés, a graduate of the Escuela Nacional de Artes plásticas La Esmeralda, was the founder, in 2002, of the Taller Ar- chivo Gráfico, Gráfica Mexicana Contemporánea, in Colonia Roma, Mexico City. The proximity of the technique with painting, the fluidity PRESENTATION SPECIAL and agility of its language and the need of communication charac- teristic of a workshop, generated in between its members, particu- larly between author and printer, were the principal reasons that led a permanent group of artists to Miriam Libhaber and Felipe Cortes in the studio work exclusively in this technique in Archivo Gráfico, under the di- 11 rection of Felipe Cortés.
