D.) Québec, Canada © Catherine Lemarier-Saulnier, 2018 Résumé Cette thèse étudie la réception des nouvelles médiatiques genrées par les citoyens. À l’aide d’une approche multiméthodes et mixte, trois collectes de données ont été menées afin de comprendre la médiation des leaders politiques et son impact sur l’évaluation de ces derniers. La première est une analyse de contenu des cadres médiatiques sur les chef(fe)s de partis politiques provinciaux lors de l’élection québécoise de 2014. La seconde est une enquête en ligne, comprenant un questionnaire et une séance de listage d’idée à partir d’un article genré ou non. La troisième collecte est constituée de groupes de discussions réalisés un mois après la fin de la campagne avec un échantillon de participants de la seconde collecte. Les principaux résultats de nos analyses mettent en lumière que la norme masculine, proche de l’identité du « Mâle Alpha », est encore omniprésente lorsqu’il est question des leaders politiques dans les médias en contexte de campagne électorale, et ce, malgré la présence d’une femme comme première ministre sortante. Cette norme est aussi mobilisée, à des degrés divers, par nos répondants dans leurs réactions mesurées par l’enquête en ligne. Certains participants utilisent davantage les principes du genre masculin dans leur évaluation, particulièrement lorsqu’ils sont confrontés à des cadres médiatiques allant dans ce sens. Nos groupes indiquent que la norme masculine du milieu politique n’est pas remise en question par les citoyens, et qu’elle est encore aujourd’hui la base de l’évaluation du leadership politique québécois.

En effet, plus de 87 % des immigrants établis au Québec vivent alors dans la métropole. Dès 1990, le gouvernement québécois annonce son intention de favoriser la régionalisation, de l'immigration dans une perspective de développement régional. Or, la concentration métropolitaine des immigrants n'est ni un phénomène récent ni propre au Québec. Pourquoi dans ce cas devient-il, à cette époque, un problème public? Une analyse de politique publique basée sur le modèle théorique séquentiel développé par Charles Jones nous permet d'étudier le processus par lequel la concentration métropolitaine de l'immigration au Québec est construite socialement et politiquement comme un problème public par les autorités gouvernementales et des représentants de la société civile.

D © Katherine Sullivan, Ottawa, Canada, 2015 ii Sommaire L’accessibilité, la popularité et la fonctionnalité des médias sociaux s’immiscent peu à peu dans les formes de communication politique. Lors des élections générales au Québec en 2014, le service de microblogage Twitter a servi d’espace aux débats et au partage d’information tant pour les citoyens que les politiciens. En validant le concept de la sphère publique d’Habermas dans un contexte numérique, cette thèse vise à cerner les potentialités cyberdémocratiques de Twitter. Nous nous intéressons aux manières avec lesquelles 26 candidats québécois ont fait usage de Twitter pendant la période officielle de la campagne, soit entre le 5 mars et le 7 avril 2014. Près de 13 000 messages numériques publiés par 26 candidats québécois ont été analysés afin d’en dégager les modalités d’usage. Ceux-ci ont été quantifiés de façon à déterminer si leur utilisation s’inscrit dans une optique de marketing politique ou de sphère publique numérique. À la lumière de nos résultats, force est de constater que Twitter a été majoritairement utilisé dans une optique de marketing politique par une majorité des candidats associés aux Parti Québécois, Parti Libéral du Québec et la Coalition Avenir Québec.
