1 About This Document This document provides an overview of workstation operating systems, server operating systems, feature updates, system components currently supported by DATEV.

Keep operating systems up to date

Keep your systems up to date using Windows updates (Instructions: Installing Windows Updates (doc. no. 1071598) (only in German)). DATEV tests DATEV programs for compatibility with Windows updates (operating system) and Microsoft updates (applications).

2.1 Operating systems for work stations

DATEV recommendations

DATEV recommends using Windows 10 Pro and Windows 10 Enterprise.

Windows 10 Home is not recommended. This edition installs feature updates provided 2 times a year by Microsoft for Windows 10 immediately after their release by Microsoft without requesting to do so (further information: Feature Update for Windows 10 (doc. no. 1080746) (only in German)). If the DATEV software is not compatible with a feature update, therefore, you may experience downtimes (including long downtimes).

Achtung End of support for specific versions

The following versions will no longer be supported when DATEV programs 15.0 are made available (August 2021):

. Feature update 2004 for Windows 10 Pro and Windows 10 Enterprise

. Feature update 2004 for Windows 10 Home

The following versions are no longer supported after DATEV programs 14.1 (January 2021):

. Feature update 1909 for Windows 10 Pro and Windows 10 Enterprise

. Feature update 1909 for Windows 10 Home

The following versions are no longer supported after DATEV programs 14.0 (September 2020):

Ability to run of DATEV programs using Windows 10 Enterprise Multisession (in Azure)

. DATEV enables DATEV programs to run on virtual machines set up in a public cloud.

. The data protection classification, using programs in the public cloud (e.g. in Azure), and data storage in the public cloud are the responsibility of the customer.

. The setup and configuration of the IT environment in the public cloud (e.g. in Azure) and the setup of the DATEV environment are the responsibility of a qualified IT technician or DATEV solution partner.

. DATEV supports the use of DATEV programs on Windows 10 Enterprise Multisession in a domain network. A peer-to-peer environment is not supported.

. This Windows 10 edition is offered exclusively in Azure. It enables simultaneous use by multiple users by providing RDS services.

In order to make the installation prerequisite check (IVP) allow the installation, the DATEV Basis-Installer V.14.1 must be used for the installation of the DATEV programs 14.1 and must include at least the service releases from 18.03.21. To prepare the installation, log on to the data carrier portal and download the DATEV Basis-Installer V.14.1 at least incl. service releases 18.03.21 as described in the following instructions: Data carrier download portal: Download DATEV programs as ISO file or DATEV basic installer (doc. no. 1009250) (only in German)
