It focuses on purchase recommendations for new hardware and minimum requirements, and serves as an orientation framework for existing systems. 2 Background Information 2.1 Classification of Systems . Purchase recommendations The purchase recommendation supports you in purchasing new hardware. New devices in line with the purchase recommendation use modern, state of the art technology and will be usable far into the future. Compatible with DATEV In this section, we describe how to equip an existing system to ensure good performance when working with DATEV programs. However, user behavior, the number of applications running simultaneously, the number of users and other factors also play a role in the performance. Suitable systems fulfil the purchase recommendations applicable approx. three years ago (PC systems) or approx. four years ago (servers). Existing systems that fulfil these values may only be used with DATEV programs for one to two extra years. The statements regarding hardware concern systems that are primarily used for DATEV programs. If additional programs or services that place high demands on resources are used, this must be taken into account when selecting the hardware. 2.2 General Information about New Purchases The purchase recommendations for the PC and server systems are based on an optimal price/performance ratio. Please note the following: Processors Choose the current processor generation. The current generation can be noticeably faster even with the same clock frequency. Systems with an ARM processor ("Windows 10 on ARM") are not supported. Device examples: . Microsoft Surface Pro X, processor designation "Microsoft SQ1" (manufactured by Qualcom 8x3.0 GHz) . Tablet from Lenovo Miix 630 Dokument 1080703 Seite 2 von 11 Choose processors from the same model range, with a higher clock frequency and fewer cores (at least quad core for workstations and servers). Software (including DATEV programs) generally benefits more from a higher frequency rather than lots of processor cores. Monitor . A 32" monitor with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 and an aspect ratio of 16:10 is recommended. Virtually all DATEV programs support Windows scaling settings. You will get a sharp image and clearly displayed icons. You can also use any high-resolution monitor with a small screen size (e.g., a 12" notebook). If using multiple monitors, the resolution and scaling of the monitors must be identical. Otherwise there may be a loss of quality when the programs are moved to the second monitor. Further Information: . Large Monitor / Dual Monitor – Information for Use in Connection with DATEV Programs . Increase font size in DATEV programs Software Choose the professional version of the 64-bit Windows 10 operating system for single users and notebooks. Among other issues, Windows 10 Home does not support domain membership. DATEV only supports the 32-bit version of Microsoft Office. Microsoft itself also recommends using the 32-bit version (http://technet.microsoft.com/de-de/library/ee681792(v=office.15) .aspx). DATEV only supports the desktop version of Office 365. Further information: Microsoft Office and DATEV Programs: Supported Office Packages (Dok.-Nr. 1080705) SSD . SSDs are significantly faster on workstations than standard hard drives, particularly in launching programs and starting the operating system. An SSD with 500 GB is standard for Solid State Drive PCs and notebooks. SSDs for servers (enterprise SSDs) have since become a recommended standard option. If the server manufacturer offers an "SSD option," this is preferable for a terminal server at least. Hardware for Virtual Environments There are special and additional requirements in virtual environments and for virtual servers: Virtualisation: Practical experience (doc. no. 1080080) (only in German) 2.3 Other System Requirements . Access to the DATEV Rechenzentrum is required to install DATEV software. Further information: Requirements for retrieving Access Rights, Licenses and Software (doc. no. 1080533) (only in German) . A standard internet connection (e.g., DSL 6000) is sufficient. Dokument 1080703 Seite 3 von 11 . In networked environments, at least one DVD drive is required. By releasing the software on the network, you can access it via all workstations and, where appropriate, install it from there. The workstation serves as an input and output medium for the user. Only the keyboard, screen information, and mouse movements (optionally sound) are transmitted between the terminal server and the WTS client. A WTS client can therefore fall under the purchase recommendation for workstations / single users. Exceptions In the following cases, terminal clients must meet higher requirements: . The WTS client is intended to be used as a DATEVasp working station or DATEVasp remote working station. The WTS client has local anti-virus protection (VIWAS classic/comfort). In these cases, the requirements of a DATEV-compatible system apply as described in chapter Workstations / Single Users. New terminal server functions can only be used with current Windows terminal clients (RDC: Remote Desktop Connection Client). For dual monitor operation the client must have a powerful graphics solution and at least RDC 7.0 (Remote Desktop Connection) installed. See the following documents regarding thin clients: . DATEVasp: Using Thin Clients in the DATEVasp Environment (doc. no. 1015010) (only in German) 4 Server Systems We recommend using the most up-to-date operating system that has been approved for use by DATEV software for new installations. For servers, this is currently Windows Server 2019. DATEV has approved all supported server operating systems in the 64-bit version only: Supported operating systems, service packs, and system components (Dok.-Nr. 1080704). Details and requirements for using Windows Server 2019: Windows Server 2019 and the DATEV programs (doc. no. 1003962) (only in German). There are special and additional requirements for virtual environments or virtual servers: Virtualisation: Practical experience (doc. no. 1080080) (only in German). 4.1 File Servers / SQL Servers For a file server / SQL server, we assume "average" program usage and corresponding database sizes. The purchase recommendations are meant for approx. 15–20 concurrent users or workstations. A separate DATEV DMS server is only recommended for DATEV DMS classic with more than approx. 50 users: DATEV DMS classic Service Description, Version 9.0, Art.
