Inhoud Bieren 0.0 Pilsner Session Sour Fruit Wheat Weizen Blond Amber Trappist from the Brabantse monasteries Double Triple Quadrupel IPA Stout/Porter Wood Trendy flavours Inhoud Uitleg termen Bieren Session 0.0 The Session style comes from the craft beer world (special beers from small breweries) and is an umbrella term for craft beer that is brewed to a lower alcohol Pilsner percentage. Dutch brewers are starting to brew more and more beers of this style Session in the last year, which is already common in America. The Session style challenges Sour the better brewer to brew a beer that has the distinctly full flavor that craft beers are known for, but with less alcohol. That works fine. Fruit Wheat Sour Weizen Sour beers are traditionally made by deliberately allowing wild yeast strains or bacteria into the brew. Nowadays fruit is added that contributes to organic acids, Blond so that the beer has a fresh sour taste. In the traditional process, the beer may take Amber months to ferment and possibly years to mature. However, with modern methods, Trappist from the Brabantse monasteries sour beer can be made within a few days. Double Wheat & Weizen Triple Wheat beer and Weizen are different beers but are often mixed up. Both beers are Quadrupel cloudy because they are not filtered and both contain barley malt and wheat malt, IPA which gives the beer a fresh and soft taste. They are both pale yellow to blond in colour. Weizen, originally from Germany, contains only grain, water and hops. Stout/Porter Nothing is added, that’s why the Weizen tastes fresh, sweet, sour and full of flavour. Wood Wheat beer, originally from Belgium, also contains other ingredients. The addition of Trendy flavours coriander seeds and orange peel gives the wheat beer a sweet-sour and spicy taste. IPA IPA stands for Indian Pale Ale. More hops are added to this, from origin, English beer than to lager. That creates more bitterness. You also taste many fruity flavors, which differentiate the bitter tastes again. The alcohol percentage is between 5% and 7.5%. But the amount of alcohol in an Imperial IPA is often higher. Porter Porter is a dark style of beer developed in London form well hopped beers made from brown malt. The name was first recorded in the 18th century and is thought to come from its popularity with street and river porters. The rule, never ask for "a beer" applies especially in Belgium. Such a request will bring forth a perfectly acceptable lager of a type, but one that could just as easily be found in many other countries. The great beers of Belgium are not its lagers. Its native brews are in other styles, and they offer an extraordinary variety, some so different from more conventional brews that at the initial encounter they are scarcely recognisable as beers. Yet they represent some of the oldest traditions of brewing in the Western world. No other country (even those with far more breweries) has among its native styles of beer such diversity, individuality, idiosyncrasy and colour. Nor does any other country present beers so beautifully. Belgian brewers often use wired and corked Champagne bottles, and serve each beer in its own shape of glass, ranging from flutes to snifters and chalices. It is something of a Belgian speciality to bottle beers with a sediment of live yeast, so that they can be laid down to mature. This technique is usually indicated on the label by the phrase "re-fermented in the bottle" (Refermentée en bouteille / Hergist in de fles ).

HISTORY OF MILLER’S In 1950, three brothers of Greek descent, Pete, Nick and Jimmy Gallios, pooled all of their resources and purchased the flailing Miller’s Pub from the Miller brothers, who had established the bar in 1935. After the purchase, the Gallios brothers did not have the $500 it would have cost to change the sign on the pub, so the name Miller’s remained. In 1953, after finishing his military service, younger brother Vannie worked his way into a stake in the pub. The Gallios Brothers started out with one humble goal- support their growing families. So they rolled up their sleeves, went to work and never looked back. Little did they know that one day their little pub would become a beloved piece of Chicago history. Over the years they imprinted not only their work ethic but their personalities on the pub. It became one of the most famous late-night spots Chicago had to offer, where on any night of the week an average couple out on-the- town might find Marilyn Monroe or Mayor Daley in the booth next to them. Chicago baseball legends Bill Veeck and Harry Caray were regular customers and became lifelong friends of the family. Jimmy Durante never came to town 1962 !
