Three more games were played in the annual inter-squad World Series as Green and Black battled to a tie in Game 3, but Green would win both games 4 and 5 to wrap up the yearly battle. “Green just flat out dominated in every aspect of the series,” said Coach McNamara. “They put together better at-bats, ran the bases better, their pitchers challenged hitters and threw more strikes and their defense played clean, error-free baseball. It was a pretty simple equation.” Green took game 3 by a score of 8-3. Black bounced back to tie Game 4 by a score of 11-11 after trailing by three runs heading into their last at-bat. Green would come back to take Game 5 by a score of 3-2 as the game was dominated by pitchers and defense. “All in all, I think we got better in all aspects of the game. We obviously still have some things to work on but I think the Coaching Staff was pleased with what we saw. Offensively, we seem to have the makings of a solid lineup, with much better speed from top to bottom. The pitching staff looks to be much more flexible and possibly deeper than it has ever been. The defense has shown flashes of being good but that’s an area we will continue to look at as the year progresses.” Green now controls the all time series at four games to two.

PLAYING BALL MILES AWAY FROM HOME Sophomore infielder Kevin Fearon had a wonderful opportunity to join on with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes to play with a USA team which traveled throughout Europe participating in goodwill games. There were players from all over the country, including Minnesota, Tennessee and California. They began their trip in Amsterdam playing a local team called the Holland Pirates, winning a tight ballgame 3-2. While in the city of Amsterdam the team visited the Anne Frank House and the Heineken Brewery. “Walking around the city alone was amazing; it was incredible to see,” said Fearon. Their next stop was Belgium where they didn’t fair too well. The team’s final stop was France. First they went to Rouen which is where they played the 23 and 22U Junior National team. They played well enough to split their four games. When the baseball concluded, there was enough time to site-see around the beautiful streets of Paris where Kevin had the wonderful opportunity to see both the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame de Paris. “Those two magnificent places made this entire trip for me,” added Fearon. “The baseball was good but the total experience is what made the trip, that and the people I met. I will never forget it.” SENIOR PROFILE: This newsletter focuses attention on senior right‐handed pitcher Hayden Allred from Waxachachie, TX. He played his first two seasons at Cedar Valley Junior College in Dallas and is one of six players who have transferred from CVC and finished their careers for the Post Baseball Program. Last season, Allred finished the year 2‐1 with a 2.45 ERA in 22 innings pitched while striking out 16 batters. He was 2nd on the team in appearances with 13. He also started one game last year and in one of the most important games of the season, Hayden had a remarkable outing going 7.1 innings giving up only 2 runs on 6 hits in a big 8‐2 win vs. Bloomfield. “Hayden played a vital and flexible role for us last year as we were able to start him or use him in long relief out of the bullpen. He threw strikes, kept the ball down and was very durable. He did a nice job for us last year. We look for him to have an even more extensive role for us this year,” offered Coach McNamara. Allred will graduate this upcoming spring with a degree in Business Management.
