Check the social media accounts for colleges that interest you to learn more about their personality. Contact their admissions departments to ask questions about campus life and academic areas that interest you.

• Understand your financial aid options. See pages 60–66 of this book to get started.

• Make a short list of eight or nine colleges that interest you, and see if you can talk to current students or graduates.

• Create a calendar to help you remember the admission and financial aid deadlines for each college you’re applying to.
