Coach Shellane Ogoshi enters her sixth season as the head coach of the women’s volley- ballb squad. Th e Pioneers fi nished the 2012 campaign with the most wins in Ogoshi’s tenure, securings a 23-15 record including an in-conference record of 11-5. Th e squad earned its seconds NCAA Tournament berth in three years after making its way to the ECC champion- ships match. Senior middle blocker Lisa Delfs and junior middle blocker Makamae Namahoe earnede second-team All-Conference accolades, while freshman libero Rachel Ringor set a newn school record for digs in a season. Th e 2011 season proved favorable for Ogoshi, as the Pioneers fi nished the year with a recordr of 17-15. Sophomore middle blocker Makamae Namahoe led the squad to yet another ECCE Tournament, while earning her second-consecutive All-Conference recognition. Th e 2010 season was even better than the fi rst season of 2009 for Ogoshi, as the Pioneers earned a berth to the NCAA Tournament with 20-13 overall record for the year. A combination of leadership and youth helped propel LIU Post to the big dance with senior Marilena Guadagnini and freshman Makamae Namahoe earning All-Confer- ence nods. P PIONEER COACHES

At the conclusion of the 2010 season, Coach Ogoshi was named a Th irty Under 30 Recipient. Th e award was featured in the I 2010 April/May edition of Coaching Volleyball magazine. Shellane was one of three NCAA Division II coaches recognized for the O award. N Th e 2009 season was a productive year for Ogoshi, as the Pioneers fi nished with a record of 14 wins and 14 losses, earning her E Coach of the Year honors within the conference. Also, two Pioneer players were named All-Conference selections. Senior middle E blocker Kerry Heitner and freshman middle blocker Kirsten Taylor represented the Pioneers. R Ogoshi spent one season as an assistant coach at her alma mater Hofstra University, where she assisted with all facets of the

program. C Th e Hawaii native put together a standout four-year career for the Pride, as evidenced by her jersey retirement in the fall of O 2008. Ogoshi played in 118 matches during her career and tallied 4,597 assists and 1,660 digs. She was a two-time Colonial Ath- letic Association (CAA) Setter of the Year (2005 and 2006) and the 2005 CAA Player of the Year. Th e 2004 CAA Rookie of the Year A and All-Rookie Team selection, Ogoshi went on to earn All-CAA fi rst team honors in each of her next three seasons. In addition, C she was an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Honorable Mention All-Region pick as a sophomore and the CAA H Championship Most Outstanding Player in 2006. In addition to her coaching stint at Hofstra, Ogoshi has also coached club volleyball with the Pakela Volleyball Club (Honolulu, E Hawaii) since 2004 and the TCA Volleyball Club (Hempstead, NY) since 2008. S A two-time ESPN Th e Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District selection, Ogoshi graduated with a degree in International Business and Finance in 2007 and currently resides in Levittown, N.Y.

Jose Brito begins his fi fth year on the staff , off ering over six years of prior coach- ing experience. Brito, a 2007 graduate of Hofstra University, coached junior varsity volleyball at Hewlett High School and currently serves as a clinic coach and trainer at Sportime in Bethpage, N.Y. Brito remains a coach at the LIBA Volleyball Club, while heading up junior varsity boy’s volleyball at Uniondale High School. He has a Bachelor’s degree in math and fi n- ished with his masters’ degree in Physical Education. Plus Brito is certifi ed by the state of New York in Physical Education K-12, as well as Adult CPR and First Aid..

20122013 WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL Dr. Kimberly R. Cline - President, Long Island University Dr. Kimberly R. Cline, the 10th president and fi rst woman president of Long Island University, enters her fi rst year with LIU after spending the last fi ve years at Mercy College. Dr. Cline comes to LIU with experience as a president of a multicampus institution, as a CFO of a university system and as a university attorney, bringing a rare trifecta of managerial, fi nancial and legal expertise to her new role. Known in higher education circles as a transformational leader, Dr. Cline was appointed president of Mercy College in 2008. She was the architect of a renaissance at the College, reversing a downward enrollment trend by instituting initiatives that increased the size and academic quality of the student body. During her fi ve-year tenure, the College more than tripled its endowment, earned its fi rst A credit rating from Standard and Poor’s and made the most signifi cant investments - LIU L LONG ISLAND in academics in its history. Dr. Cline worked closely with faculty to achieve consensus and spur O innovation. Under her leadership, Mercy launched a nationally recognized student retention program; developed new academic programs and centers in growing fi elds like entrepreneurship, N

strategic consulting, social justice and global engagement; enhanced technology training for faculty; G and improved responsiveness to outcomes data.

Prior to assuming the presidency at Mercy, Dr. Cline served as vice chancellor and chief fi nancial offi cer of the State S University of New York. In this role, she was responsible for all of the system’s fi nancial and administrative functions and oversaw SUNY’s $10 billion budget, which supports 64 campuses throughout the state. During this time, Dr. Cline also served L on the executive board of SUNY’s Faculty Senate. She fi rst joined the SUNY system as vice president, chief operating offi cer A and chief of staff at SUNY at Maritime College, where she was instrumental in doubling enrollment and balancing a 20 percent defi cit-spending budget. N D Cline also devotes her time and talents to the New York State Department of Education’s Advisory Committee on the Statewide Plan for Higher Education, the Center for Creative Leadership, the ACE (American Council on Education) Women’s Network Executive Council, the East Coast Conference Presidents’ Council and the Hispanic Association of Colleges and U

2013 WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL , Director of Athletics & Recreation N Bryan Collins enters his eighth year as the Director of Athletics at LIU Post. Under Collins’ O leadership, the Pioneers’ athletic programs have seen a continual rise in both the regional and I national levels of athletic performance and academics.

T Notable achievements during his tenure include 33 conference titles as well as NCAA A championship titles from the 2007, 2012 and 2013 women’s lacrosse teams, the 2009 and 2010 E men’s lacrosse teams and individual NCAA championships from members of the 2013 women’s swimming team. R

C Th is past season, the men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball,

E women’s swimming, women’s basketball, softball, and men’s and women’s lacrosse teams all participated in NCAA tournaments. R LIU Post boasts some of top-ranked programs in the country that are frequently ranked in

& national polls. Th e Pioneers fi nished fi rst in the East Coast Conference Commissioner’s Cup standings for 2012-13 season - their third Cup win (2006-07, 09-10) during Collins’ tenure.

S Off the fi eld, Collins has included community service as a part of his players’ responsibilities. During the 2012-13 academic

C year, LIU Post student-athletes completed a department record of over 4,000 hours of service. He currently serves as the

I Chairman of the National Kidney Foundation – Long Island Kidney Walk. T Collins is responsible for the creation of a department mission statement based on the foundation of athletic excellence as E well as the initiation of the Academic Commitment Excellence (ACE) program, designed to improve attendance and academic L achievements in the classroom. In addition, LIU Post athletic programs are mentored by campus faculty and staff through the Adopt-A-Faculty program. H T In 2007-08, Collins established a Student-Athlete Orientation seminar and handbook as well as an annual student-athlete

A recognition dinner to recognize both athletic and academic success. Th e department also established an Academic Honor Roll to honor student-athletes who receive a minimum 3.0 grade point average. F In addition, Collins serves on the East Coast Conference Executive Committee and is also involved with the NCAA/ADA O

Mentoring Program. He currently serves on regional advisory committees for men’s lacrosse and baseball.

R Collins has overseen improvements to the athletic facilities on campus, including the installation of FieldTurf on Hickox Field as well as a brand new state-of-the art sound system for the stadium. In addition, all of the outdoor athletic fi elds have O undergone improvements to their playing surface. Th e Pratt Recreation Center Gymnasium, home to the basketball and

T volleyball teams, received a new sound system as well as a working press row table for media and game operations staff . Th e baseball fi eld received brand new dugouts and the softball complex received batting cages beyond the centerfi eld fence. C
