Wine List at Fenchurch Restaurant Has Been Carefully Chosen by the Fenchurch Sommelier Team I N T R O D U C T I O N Our wine list at Fenchurch Restaurant has been carefully chosen by the Fenchurch Sommelier team. Our wine list features a diverse selection of wines across a large range of vintages, countries, regions and styles. Within our wine list we have a unique selection of natural wines alongside more classical wines. These wines with their unique flavours, aromas and characteristics enhance and complement the menu in Fenchurch Restaurant. Raise your glass, Head Sommelier Alex Pastrav S O M M E L I E R S E L E C T I O N Bottle 1531 Attems Ribolla Gialla, Collio, Friuli- Venezia-Giulia, Italy, 2017 £61.00 For 700 years the Frescobaldi family has combined tradition, experience and innovation with creativity and the pursuit of excellence. The estate extends over 44 hectares of south-facing terraced slopes to the west of Gorizia, protected both from the cold northern winds and the characteristic “bora” wind of Trieste. The area is particularly suited to viticulture, making Friuli Venezia Giulia one of the leading grape-growing regions of Italy already since the end of the 19th century. An intriguing hazelnut note leads into a vanilla, and white and smoked pepper finish. The very persistent finish leaves us with a slight aftertaste of tangerine, spices and a mineral sapidity. 229 Terrazas de Los Andes Cabernet Sauvignon, Mendoza, ARG, 2016 £55.50 Terrazas de los Andes was founded in 1999, in the heart of Mendoza, a renowned winemaking region in the west of Argentina, on an estate where the first ungrafted vines were planted in 1929. It takes its name from the “terrazas”, a series of terraced plateaus at the foot of the Andes mountain range, scattered over altitudes ranging from 600 to 1,500 meters. Altitude and the vast temperature differences between day and night give the grapes wonderful aromatic complexity and flavor and the potential to make wines that boast remarkable structure, balance on the palate, and power. Predominance of spicy notes of thyme and green pepper in harmony with an intense black fruit and figs background. A gentle and full wine. We endeavour to ensure our vintages are correct, but please note there may be changes subject to availbilty as new vintages are released. 2 I N D E X Coravin Selection - Sommelier Selection 4 Wines By The Glass 5,6,7,8 Champagne & Sparkling Wines 8,9 White Wines - New World 10 South Africa 10 United States 10 South America 10 Australia & New Zealand & Japan 11 White Wines - Old World 12 France 12,13 Italy 13 Spain & Portugal 14 Germany & Austria 14 Rest Of Europe & Lebanon 14 Red Wines - New World 15 South Africa 15 United States 15 South America 15, 16 Australia & New Zealand & China 16 Red Wines - Old World 17 France 17,18,19 Italy 19,20 Spain 20 Portugal 21 Austria 21 Rest Of Europe 21 Rosé Wines 21 Magnums 22 Sweet Wines & Large Size Bottles 23 Port & Sherry & Fortified Wines 24 We endeavour to ensure our vintages are correct, but please note there may be changes subject to availbilty as new vintages are released. 3 C O R A V I N S E L E C T I O N A T F E N C H U R C H Our talented Sommelier Team has selected the following fine wines as an ideal accompaniment to your meal. For the sake of this wine list, our natural wines are wines that are grown or produced by winemakers implementing organic & biodynamic practices, mostly unfined & unfiltered, and the least amount of sulfur added at the end of bottling, or no sulfur added at all. These wines are complex and interesting much like our food and greatly complement our menu. These wines are alive, have character and evolve very quickly over time in the glass. They are meant to be enjoyed with food, with us here at Alter.

#6 TASTING NOTES BY: MASTER SOMMELIER MAX CAST Moderate intensity of aroma with ripe yellow pear, fresh Meyer lemon, quince zest, golden delicious apple, and notes of honey and button mushroom (possibly signs of botyrtis). The wine is dry, full-bodied, with an oily texture. There is phenolic bitterness as well. TASTING NOTES BY: F.L.X. TABLE’S MICHALIS KALAMPOUKAS Notes of ripe peach, lemon cream and apple. There is Chamomile-like floral quality, mushroom and wet wool notes with some possible botrytis from the notes of dried honey and ginger. Sweetness: Dry Tannin: Slight Phenolic Bitterness Alcohol: Medium Plus Acid: Medium Oak: old world or new? climate? grape? country? place? WINE DETAILS: Winery: Famille Hugel Cuvee: Classic “Hugel” Grape: Pinot Gris Country: France Regions: Alsace Vintage: 2017 Alcohol: 14.5% Elevage: No New Oak Other: Slow, temperature controlled fermentations NOTES : Alsatian Pinot Gris is very different from its Italian counterpart Pinot Grigio; it is even slightly more aromatic. This could be confused with Marsanne/Roussanne blend form the Rhône, but those have slightly more lifted aromatics and are often aged in oak. Once you have narrowed down moderate aromatics, medium plus body, oily texture, medium acid, there are very few places to go, except Alsatian Pinot Grigio. A great blind tasting example that what is not there also can lead the way to a conclusion. Retail Price: $25 Click Here to Reorder at F.L.X. Now talking about wines, the Wine and sprit association of the Great Britain has sponsored the following definition of Wine ―Wine is an alcoholic beverage obtained from the fermentation of the juice of freshly gathered grapes. Fermentation is conducted in the district of origin according to local customs and traditions. To bear the name Wine, the product must come only from grapes. If made from other fruits; the fruit name must be put before the tern Wine eg. Blackberry Wine, Apricot Wine, Fig Wine. Only a small part of the world is Wine producing. This is because the grape will only provide juice of the quality required for conversion into consumable Wine where two climatic conditions prevail. 1. Sufficient sun-shine to ripen the grape 2. Winters that are moderate yet sufficiently cool to give the Wine a chance to rest and restore its strength for the growing and fruiting season.
