Application by the EFTA States participating in the EEA 1.1 Iceland European works The seven covered channels broadcast an average of 39.6% European works in 2007 and 42.2% in 2008. This represents a 2.6 percentage point increase over the reference period. For 2007 and 2008, of the total of seven covered channels, three channels achieved the majority proportion specified in Article 4 of the Directive (Omega Television, RUV and Syn - Vision TV), while four channels didn't meet this target (Sirkus, Skjár 1, Stöð 2 and Stöð 2 Bio). The compliance rate, in terms of numbers of channels, was 42.9%. European works made by independent producers The average proportion of European works by independent producers on all reported channels was 10.7% in 2007 and 12.6% in 2008, representing a 1.9 percentage points increase over the reference period. In 2007, of the total of seven identified channels, two channels exceeded the minimum proportion under Article 5 of the Directive, while three channels remained below the target. One channel was exempted (Syn - Vision TV) and no data was communicated for another one (Omega Television). The compliance rate, in terms of number of channels, was 33.3%. Baht is Asia’s top outperformer on tourism rebound bet Source: Bangkok Post (Link) After lagging other Asian currencies for most of the year, Thailand’s baht has staged a sharp rebound to outperform its peers. The baht has rallied almost 1.5% in May after dropping over 7% in the first four months of 2020. The catalyst? Traders are betting Thailand’s tourism- dependent economy will recover swiftly from the virus-induced slump as economies begin to reopen. “The sooner availability of a vaccine will mean a quicker recovery in industries such as retail and tourism, and as such currencies relying more on these sectors may respond more,” said Frances Cheung, Singapore-based head of Asia macro strategy at Westpac Banking Corp. Yanxi Tan, a foreign exchange strategist at Malayan Banking Bhd. expects the baht to rise to 31.7 per dollar by year-end as the pandemic dissipates. The currency rallied as much as 0.5% to 31.872 per dollar on 19 May, with sentiment bolstered by signs of progress in developing a vaccine against the virus. 2. Organic rice gets trade boost Source: Bangkok Post (Link) The Commerce Ministry has registered a domain for Thai farm and food products, TraceThai.com, with local organic rice chosen as the pilot product given its high value, strong market demand and export potential. Pimchanok Vonkorpon, director-general of the Trade Policy and Strategy Office under the Commerce Ministry, said the registration is part of an ongoing project of the office in supporting Thai farmers and Thai organic rice exporters. -

Vorsitzende), Prof. Dr. Althammer, Becker, Fischer, Dr. Lübbert, Prof. Dr. Mailänder, Prof. Dr. Müller-Terpitz, Sagurna, Schneider und Dr. Zimmer entschieden: Der von der NBCUniversal Global Networks Deutschland GmbH bei der Medienanstalt Berlin-Brandenburg (mabb) beantragten Zulassung zur Veranstaltung des bundesweit verbreiteten Fernsehspartenprogramms „13th Street“ stehen Gründe der Sicherung der Meinungsvielfalt im Fernsehen nicht entgegen. 1 Begründung I Sachverhalt 1 Zulassungsantrag Die NBCUniversal Global Networks Deutschland GmbH („NBCU Deutschland“) hat mit undatiertem Schreiben, welches am 04.02.2019 bei der mabb eingegangen ist, bei dieser die unbefristete Verlängerung der zum 30.04.2019 auslaufenden Zulassung zur Veranstaltung des bundesweiten Fernsehspartenprogramms 13th Street beantragt. Nach dem Staatsvertrag über die Zusammenarbeit zwischen Berlin und Brandenburg (MStV) ist die Erteilung einer unbefristeten Zulassung möglich, wenn mit ihr keine Zuweisung von Übertragungskapazitäten verbunden ist (vgl. § 28 Abs. 5 MStV). Die mabb hat die KEK mit Schreiben vom 06.02.2019 um medienkonzentrationsrechtliche Prüfung gebeten. 2 Programmstruktur und -verbreitung Das Programm 13th Street ist ein 24-stündiges Unterhaltungsspartenprogramm, welches überwiegend Spielfilme, Fernsehserien und Kurzfilme aus den Genres Action, Krimi und Thriller anbietet. -
