33 09/06/2019 HGV Update:1. Our main aim is to reduce the number of HGVs travelling over Abbey Bridge and passing the Market Cross in Group Barnard Castle. However we have been noting some concerns from parishes that problems may move elsewhere in the Dale and also noting other issues with HGVs in the area. We are sure that this ongoing discussion will be useful for all. 2. We have carried out our own survey around the Market Cross (on Monday 29th April), counting lorries with three axles or more. This survey did not show anything startlingly different from previous surveys, but there are a few avenues we are pursuing. We would like to do an early morning survey (from about 5am); we are concerned that the square fronts of buses go over the narrow pavement when turning; one lorry turned to go over the County Bridge and we are contacting the police about this and asking for their recent data on infringements and penalties (we last had something in October last year). 3. We are signed up to receive the information on the consultation for the dualling of the A66, which is ongoing at the moment, and we will take an active role in this. We are watching carefully to ensure decisions on the plans will not make our situation worse – and hopefully make it better. Also we want to ensure that disruption during the works will be kept to a minimum and that large vehicles will not be directed through the Town as a diversion. 34 10/06/2019 CDALC NALC Chief Executive’s bulletin: news of forthcoming ‘communities framework’ from Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government’s Secretary of State; update from Finance and Scrutiny Committee and work on updating a Member Development Charter. 35 10/06/2019 CDALC Agenda for Rural Services Network North East regional seminar, 11.30am, Friday 18 June at County Hall, Durham. Theme - Should the PC attend? ‘Sustainable Communities’ with speakers Troy Gardner (Working to save the Rural Post Office), Jo Laverick (Rural Regeneration in County Durham) and Lucy Jenkins (Arts, Culture and Regeneration). Free to attend but booking necessary. 36 13/06/2019 Play Inspection Annual Inspection Report and Stock Valuation for Stangarth Lane play area. Findings summarised in report to PC Company meeting 20/6.
