Our Laser Lorry Offer

ALL 3 FOR JUST £9.99

CS3797 £9.99

Local company Laser Transport contacted us to say they had found a box of covers and would we be interested. Well the answer was yes and after a bit of sorting, we have put together a very special offer. In 1988 they produced a First Day Cover for the Transport issue and to mark their 15th Anniversary, then in 1994 they carried a cover on the first lorry shuttle through the tunnel. Finally in 1998 another tunnel carried cover to mark their Silver Jubilee. We have had all these in the past and individually they would cost around £30, I said we would take them, but had to be able to offer them at a fantastic price to our customers, so can offer all three for just £9.99

Each cover was flown in a different Aircraft, signed by that pilot plus their finishing position marked on the cover. Each is supplied in a special album with a full list of competitors and previous winners, only 350 collections were issued. The star item, and missing from many of these, is the 14th place cover signed by Prince William of Gloucester, who was sadly killed in an accident shortly after this. Elliot See Elliot See (1927 - 1966) was an American engineer, test pilot, and astronaut, who was chosen in the NASA Group Two selection process alongside the likes of Neil Armstrong and John Shepard. He was selected as the command pilot for Gemini 9 but was tragically killed with his crewmate Charles Bassett in a 1966 trainer jet crash in at the McDonnell Aircraft plant in Missouri, where they were undertaking two weeks of space rendezvous training. SP(A)001D £750 Elliot See signed 8 x 10 official NASA photograph £75 per month over 10 months

Bill Anders Bill Anders was the Lunar Module Pilot on the Apollo 8 missions. He is arguably the hardest Apollo astronaut signature to find & virtually impossible to get on a cover. Anders simply never participated in commercial signing sessions, and on the very few occasions he did charity auctions his fee was very expensive which has kept his autograph out of pretty much every space collection. We believe this is the first time we have offered his signature in any form.

SP(A08)03 £995 £199 per month over 5 months Bill Anders signed piece.

John Young John Young signed 1981 STS-1 cover with a 12th April launch day Kennedy Space Center postmark. John Young (1930 - 2018) served a record 42 years with NASA and is the only astronaut to have commanded four different classes of spacecraft - Gemini, Apollo Command Module, Apollo Lunar Module, and the Space Shuttle. Young was the first person to orbit the Moon alone during the Apollo 10 mission and became the ninth person to walk on the Moon during Apollo 16; as well as commanding the first Space Shuttle mission.

It has been triple postmarked on the day of issue (14th August), the missions launch day (30th August), and the shuttles return day (5th September). STS-8 was the eighth Space Shuttle mission and third of the Challenger shuttle. Commander Richard Truly led the five man crew which included the first African-American astronaut, Guion Bluford. The mission was a success and achieved its research and scientific objectives, including the environmental testing of new hardware intended for future spacecraft and research into ‘space sickness’. This is a truly fantastic piece of space memorabilia which is supplied in a special presentation folder. Working in conjunction with the US Post Service, STS-8 carried 260,000 covers all with a $9.35 stamp which were made available for sale to collectors. The goal was to create a highly collectable item which had been carried into space, but at an affordable price for all. There is no doubt that this stand out collectable would make a wonderful addition to your collection or as a perfect gift for friends and family.

1986 SPACE SHUTTLE CHALLENGER

Dick Scobee, Judy Resnik, Mike Smith, Ellison Onizuka, and Ronald McNair signed 1986 Space Shuttle Challenger cover with a 28th January launch day Kennedy Space Center postmark, a scarce set of autographs. On January 28th 1986 the Space Shuttle Challenger broke apart 73 seconds into its flight, leading to the deaths of all seven crew members. The disaster was caused by an o-ring seal on one of its rocket boosters failing at liftoff and resulted in a 32 month halt of the shuttle program. This cover is signed by the five crew members who were official NASA astronauts. There were two other civilian crew members, Christa McAuliffe and Gregory SP(SH)020 £1500 Jarvis, a teacher and an engineer respectively, serving as Payload Specialists. The pair only £150 per month signed a very limited quantity of material which we have seen sell for sky high prices. Thus the over 10 months cover signed by these five is recognised as the complete astronaut crew signed cover.
