  • Connecting SEQ 2031 an Integrated Regional Transport Plan for South East Queensland
Connecting SEQ 2031 An Integrated Regional Transport Plan for South East Queensland Tomorrow’s Queensland: strong, green, smart, healthy and fair Queensland AUSTRALIA south-east Queensland 1 Foreword Vision for a sustainable transport system As south-east Queensland's population continues to grow, we need a transport system that will foster our economic prosperity, sustainability and quality of life into the future. It is clear that road traffic cannot continue to grow at current rates without significant environmental and economic impacts on our communities. Connecting SEQ 2031 – An Integrated Regional Transport Plan for South East Queensland is the Queensland Government's vision for meeting the transport challenge over the next 20 years. Its purpose is to provide a coherent guide to all levels of government in making transport policy and investment decisions. Land use planning and transport planning go hand in hand, so Connecting SEQ 2031 is designed to work in partnership with the South East Queensland Regional Plan 2009–2031 and the Queensland Government's new Queensland Infrastructure Plan. By planning for and managing growth within the existing urban footprint, we can create higher density communities and move people around more easily – whether by car, bus, train, ferry or by walking and cycling. To achieve this, our travel patterns need to fundamentally change by: • doubling the share of active transport (such as walking and cycling) from 10% to 20% of all trips • doubling the share of public transport from 7% to 14% of all trips • reducing the share of trips taken in private motor vehicles from 83% to 66%.

  • 1 December 2020 Mr Neil Laurie the Clerk of the Parliament Parliament House George Street BRISBANE QLD 4000 Dear Mr Laurie
Our ref: PET 38491 Your ref: A600274 1 December 2020 Mr Neil Laurie The Clerk of the Parliament Parliament House George Street BRISBANE QLD 4000 Dear Mr Laurie I refer to my interim response to petition 3361-20 about Dohles Rocks Road on/off ramps at Murrumba Downs and Griffin, which was tabled on 8 October 2020. The Australian and Queensland governments have committed $2.1 billion of joint funding (on an 80:20 federal:state funding basis) for upgrades to the Gateway Motorway and the Bruce Highway. As part of this joint funding, on 3 April 2018, without any prior consultation with the Queensland Government, the Australian Government announced a commitment of $120 million towards a $150 million project (on an 80:20 federal:state funding basis) to construct northbound entry and southbound exit (north-facing) ramps to the Bruce Highway at the Dohles Rocks Road interchange, Murrumba Downs. The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is unaware of the costing methodology adopted by the Australian Government for the proposed north-facing ramps, and the true cost of construction has yet to be determined. The Dohles Rocks Road north-facing ramps form part of integrated planning underway for the Gateway Motorway and Bruce Highway Upgrades (GMBHU) project to achieve the optimum whole-of-network solution for the North Brisbane and South Moreton area. TMR’s initial modelling has identified that introducing north-facing ramps at Dohles Rocks Road interchange, as a standalone solution, will significantly increase congestion and result in increased travel time for the Bruce Highway during the morning and afternoon peak times, as more vehicles access the highway to make local trips.
