Firm in Hope. mark. Love and the Cross go together. Fervent in Charity. In today’s gospel the Lord opens His heart to the disciples. Creciendo en la Fe. Firmes en la Esperanza. His time is running out and He has much to tell them still. And so there is an urgency in His words. He wants the disciples— Ardientes en la Caridad and us—to know how we must be recognized as His followers, and the answer is love, the love with which He loved us, a sacrificial love. Odd as it seems, Christ is glorified by the Cross, the throne from which He reigns, the throne from which He shows His love. And so the commandment: “As I have loved you, so you also should love one another”(Jn 13:34). It seems strange that during the Easter Season the Church invites us to ponder on the words of the Lord at the Last Supper. But if we consider them as Jesus’ last will, then it is good that we bring them to mind now; for we must carry them out until the end of time: “This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” (Jn 13:35). God bless you! Fr. Luis Quinto Domingo de Pascua (Ciclo C) Reflexión Dominical Si la Cruz es la señal del cristiano, el Amor es la marca que lo identifica. El Amor y la Cruz van juntos. En el evangelio de hoy, el Señor abre Su corazón a los discípulos. Se le acaba el tiempo y todavía tiene mucho que decirles. Sus palabras tienen una urgencia especial. Quiere CONGRATULATIONS que los discípulos sepan cómo reconocerán a Sus seguidores, To the parents of the entre los que estamos incluidos nosotros; y la respuesta es el children baptized amor, el amor con que Él mismo nos amó, un amor que se sacrifica. Ove godine se navršila 35. godišnjica osnutka prvoga kon­ centracionog logora u Zapadnoj Evropi, koji je zatim postao simbolom okrutnosti i nasilja, užasa i patnje, tiranije i ropstva. I to u punom XX stoljeću! (Napominjem odmah na početku: Dachau ipak nije bio najgori nje­ mački logor. To znam iz vlastitog iskustva, jer sam proživio tri razna nacistička logora. Jednako tvrde i svi drugovi koji su bili razasuti po raznim logorima Reicha te imali prigodu da uspoređuju. No jer je Dachau bdio prvi njemački logior, ostalo je najpoznatijim logorom i postao simbo­ lom novovjekovnog ropstva). LOGOR DACHAU Po naredbi Hi nil era (koji je tada bio još samo šef policije u Mün- chenu) logor Dachau je službeno otvoren dne 22. ožujka 1933. U prvo vrijeme nalazio se u jednoj napuštenoj tvornici oružja posred dachauske močvare, blizu gradića Dachau (15 km sjeverozapadno od glavnoga grada Bavarske, Münchena). Bio je predviđen za 5.000 zatvorenika, ali naci­ stička revnost i okrutnost brzo je premašila sve Himlerove prognoze.^ Logor se prenaglo punio »neprijateljima III Reicha«, pa se već g. 1938. pi istupilo njegovu proširenju. Samo po službenim nacističkim registrima od 1933. do 1945. kroz Dachau je prošlo više od 206.000 robijaša.2 A ko­ liki su otišli (osobito Židovi) neregistrirani na drugi svijet, to sam Bog znade ! U Dachauu su bile zastupane mnoge narodnosti (gotovo sve evrop­ ske), no najviše je bilo Rusa, Pioljaka i Nijemaca.

Prefazione “Purificare la memoria” è un compito delicato e indispensabile per una crescita equilibrata delle persone e della società. Con quest’e- spressione s’intendono almeno due cose. Anzitutto non censurare il passato, non nasconderlo o non alterarlo perché non ci piace, perché non corrisponde all’idea che vogliamo avere di noi stessi; poi pren- dere una posizione corretta nei confronti del passato, riconoscendo- ne con sincerità gli errori e le insufficienze in modo da superare il rischio di ripeterli. La ‘censura’ a livello personale produce nevrosi e quindi immagini infondate e comportamenti irrazionali; a livello sociale, poi, censurare il passato produce intolleranza, aggressività, incapacità di un dialogo sincero e fruttuoso. Di dialogo abbiamo un bisogno profondo e urgente in questi tempi nei quali le cultu- re si confrontano, si contrappongono, si criticano a vicenda; e per il dialogo è condizione previa necessaria la sincerità, la correttezza, la libertà interiore. Ora, nella nostra memoria di Italiani hanno un posto importante gli anni del fascismo, della guerra e della resisten- za. Rivisitare quegli anni, farlo con un animo obiettivo e sereno, è indispensabile per costruire poco alla volta, con fatica, una memoria 5 che sia condivisa e che contribuisca, quindi, ad arricchire la com- pattezza morale del nostro paese. Non è un impegno facile perché anche la memoria è sottomessa a valutazioni animose, di parte, che tendono a esacerbare i conflitti e a contrapporre le interpretazioni.
