AW2019/2020 SKY COLLECTION 100% NATURAL LUXURY. SUSTAINABLY PRODUCED. ETHICALLY SOURCED. SKY COLLECTION Tengri means “Sky God” – the primary deity of a pantheon of gods believed by early Mongolic and Turkic peoples to govern all human existence and natural phenomena on earth. The words “Tengri” and “sky” are synonymous, the physical appearance of Tengri was unknown and considered to be timeless and infinite, like a blue sky. Across Central Asia, spiritual places are decorated with blue ribbons honouring the Sky God. This collection is inspired by these qualities and the meaning of Tengri, along with mankind’s endeavours to conquer the sky. Each piece is handmade in our sustainably produced, all-natural, undyed Noble Yarns and fabrics. These are strong and durable, yet as soft as cashmere. Warmer than merino wool, yet light and breathable. Hypoallergenic, and resistant to pilling, water and odours. Aspects of vintage flight-coats – worn by pilots in the air and off duty – are combined with functional design elements of traditional Mongolian clothing. Created for the modern-day nomad, the collection is a contemporary interpretation of classic silhouettes, blending eastern and western influences. 100% NATURAL & UNDYED | SOFT AS CASHMERE | THERMAL-REGULATING | HYPOALLERGENIC | BREATHABLE | WATER & ODOUR-RESISTANT MERLIN OVERCOAT The overcoat was popular with off-duty pilots. There is no difference in the design, materials or functionality of deels for men and women. Instead of buttoning in the middle, the deel is worn by pulling the right flap across the body and the left lapel over it. It is secured with buttons along the shoulder and side of the body and held in place with a removable belt in the form of a sash. The extra-long sleeves protect the hands against harsh winter winds, and are folded up for tasks like milking animals. The Raven Trench Coat combines simplicity, functional utility and unisex design in a single item of clothing created for the discerning global citizen. High wrap-around collars and snug cuffs were common features of aviation uniforms. The Falcon Pilot’s Liner Jacket features an inner layer of Mongolian yak wadding for added warmth, mimicking the insulating properties of a yak’s coat. The unique properties of yak fibres allow these animals to survive winter temperatures as low as -40°C, yet also provide a cooling effect in the summer, when it can be as hot as +40°C. This jacket is a perfect combination of style and function, drawing on the performance properties of the yak’s natural fibres in a modern reinterpretation of a vintage pilot’s liner jacket for today’s lifestyle.
