Title: Invest in Bristol and Bath – 5 year commitment to underwriting costs

Summary of decision to In 2013, the Council established a shared inward investment promotion service be taken: between the four West of England unitary authorities – Invest in Bristol and Bath. Hitherto, the service has operated under the aegis of Bristol City Council as accountable body using Growth Hub monies which came to an end in March 2015. It is proposed to secure the future of the service by establishing continuity of funding over a 5 year period, with each unitary authority underwriting an equal share of the costs. These amount to £1m pa and thus Bristol City Council’s share is £250k for each of the 5 years commencing in 2015/16. The service will remain under the City Council as accountable body but staff will be managed by the Chief Executive of the Local Enterprise Partnership. The service will be subject to annual review and the Council may thus withdraw approval should the service fail to deliver an agreed programme of work with acceptable outcomes.
